Do not sign up for their insurance. They dropped me because they tried to charge my card, but the charge did not go through. They did not contact me they just dropped me. No warning. They still sent me an insurance card though leaving me to believe I was covered. I looked back on my account and never saw any charge or trying to charge me though. I went to multiple doctor visits which I have found out that I now need to pay for out of pocket and have several coming up that I have no coverage for. I tried to contact them, and they kept transferring me and not helping me and then they ended up transferring me to a completely different healthcare. I was on hold for 45 minutes and when they answered it wasn't even them. I asked for a manager, and they did that. Needless to say, I feel like they should be held responsible. If you are with them, be careful because they might drop you just because.

I was on a transfer with a tech who drilled on 20 questions or more in order to update my I.D. Health status for the UHC App. A nightmare just like everything else in this country.

Sure wish I had looked at these reviews…
Sure wish I had looked at these reviews as I do everything else. After 5 years of paying for a policy with these people and paying on time, the one time it didn't go through they wait an entire month to take both payments with supposedly one email notifying someone of the issue, not to mention I've never even used this insurance policy which was dental i canceled. After being upset due to the monies i had for something else in my account. Hoping to fix the issue days later when someone calls me back as I requested they can't do nothing about it cause I canceled being upset that most places ran it again the next day or two and unaware they would wait an entire month, not mentioning they'd wait, that had me beside myself after that many years of paying for something I'd waited to use, being you have to wait 2 years for any major dental, I'm now screwed and they could careless. All they care about is getting that money. I WON'T EVER USE UNITED HEALTHCARE ONE FOR ANYTHING EVER AGAIN. I SUGGEST ANYONE LOOKING DOESN'T STOP HERE AND GOES TO SOMEONE ELSE. They aren't clear on how they take your money especially on autopay which everyone these days wants anyways. Most even offer a discount on autopay but not these guys. SHOP ELSEWHERE FOR YOUR DENTAL OR HEALTHCARE INSURANCE. Now I think well I'd probably of had issues with this insurance upon using it anyways. Hate i paid for 5 years on this crap.

UHC Dexcom Nightmare
My partner just switched to United Healthcare and she has Type 1 Diabetes and has been using Dexcom CGM for years. With Blue Cross Blue Shield the process was quick and easy, with the patient's needs, life, and worries in mind.
United Healthcare however, has made her go through hoops for weeks. They don’t trust her doctor, they delay any work on their end, and they definitely do not consider the patient.
She’s been out of Dexcom CGMs for more than a week and is having unhealthily high blood sugar throughout the night (>200), and is scared to go on group bike rides, because it’s not feasible to stop and check blood sugar while the group rides off into the distance.
I just learned that United Healthcare is one of the largest for-profit companies and prioritizes cost containment and shareholder profits. This is not the society I want and I don’t know why anyone else would. Choose a patient-focused insurance company that moves our society forward, not backward. Ask ChatGPT or your favorite AI to guide you towards companies that share your values prioritize you.

Nothing healthy about their health food…
Nothing healthy about their health food card. The app will f@c you over at least 5 times hound your will quit and not collect on possessed and canned food. Can't buy anting fresh like milk or eggs or meat.
At least 3 items are not in stock on a typical order and it's near impossible to get them off your list so you can check out. Then they say there's a price change so you have to find that. Then they say you're email needs to be filled in when it clearly shows it is. Then tech tells you to just start over.
Gee, they sure find any way to screw you so they can make $10 billion per quarter.

Denies Medications, Terminates Coverage, and Offers Little Support
I am a member of UnitedHealthcare (UHC) and I can honestly say they are one of the most frustrating companies to deal with. From the start, they have routinely denied pre-approval requests for essential medications that my doctor has prescribed, including those for chronic conditions like diabetes and asthma. It’s maddening because sometimes they'll approve these medications for a short period, only to turn around and refuse them later, leaving me (and my doctor) in the lurch and having to scramble for alternatives or having to make multiple additional requests for approvals. For an asthma inhaler, I've had to join a clinical trial just to get an inhaler similar to one I've used for years because UHC stopped covering it and others like it. Since when did UHC get to decide what's best for my health? When did UHC become my physician?
Despite having my premiums automatically withdrawn every month, UHC has terminated my coverage twice without warning. Both times, I only learned about the issue when my pharmacy contacted me about problems with my Rx. Both terminations were administrative errors on UHC’s part. When I reached out to UHC, their solution was for me to pay out-of-pocket for Rx and medical expenses until they fixed the issue. (They weren't even aware there was a problem until I notified them.)
When I explained that this would be like telling me to choose between essential medications and basic living expenses like a mortgage or car payment, their response was dismissive, saying my financial problems would be temporary and that I’d be reimbursed later, after the administrative situation was investigated and addressed. I was told I’d need to submit receipts and invoices for reimbursement, though no timeline for fixing the problem or providing reimbursement was given to me. Who does this corporation think they are, telling a paying customer that the financial problems caused by their errors are only temporary? They have no idea what the ripple effects are when someone has to choose between medical needs and essential life expenses. It’s completely out of touch and dismissive of the real-world impact their mistakes have.
It’s frustrating that instead of immediately fixing their mistake, this multi-billion-dollar company basically told me to decide between paying for healthcare or paying for things I need to live—despite me regularly paying them $1,000 a month in premiums.
I just don't understand how a company like this is allowed to continue operating. There have to be laws and regulations in place to protect people from this kind of negligence and stress, right?
If you're looking for a reliable and accountable health insurance provider, do yourself a favor and keep looking—because UHC is definitely not it.
Did I mention that not once did anyone apologize for the inconvenience?

**Review of United Healthcare**
I am extremely frustrated with my experience with United Healthcare. Following a major surgery last week, one of the benefits I was supposed to receive was access to Mom’s Meals for post-operative recovery. Unfortunately, I encountered significant obstacles in accessing this service.
Upon my discharge, I reached out to United Healthcare to utilize my Mom’s Meals benefit, only to be informed that I needed authorization from my surgeon to proceed. This requirement is baffling. United Healthcare had already approved my surgeon, the date of the surgery, the type of surgery, and the length of my hospital stay. So why is an additional authorization needed for a service that is entirely separate from United Healthcare?
It is incredibly frustrating that United Healthcare is placing unnecessary barriers between patients and essential services. Mom’s Meals is a partner organization that aims to assist individuals during their recovery, yet United Healthcare’s policies prevent them from doing so. After spending an hour on the phone and speaking with two representatives who seemed ill-equipped to handle my situation, I was left with no resolution. It was disheartening to see that they could not even accurately spell my surgeon's name.
I am appalled by the lack of empathy and support from United Healthcare during a time when I simply needed access to food—something that should not have been a complicated process. This experience has left me feeling neglected and frustrated, and I don’t want to be affiliated with this association any longer.
I strongly advise others to think twice before choosing United Healthcare. My experience has been nothing short of disappointing, and I am actively seeking alternatives.

UHC/OPTUM RX BELIEVES I AM A MEDICAL EXPERIMENT
I accepted their insurance for the first time this year. I had a refill for my medication sent over in advance for the first fill for 2025 on January 3, 2025. UHC/OPTUM RX requested a pre-authorization. My doctor did the pre-authorization and OPTUM RX denied the claim. My doctor appealed the appeal and OPTUM RX denied the pre-authorization again stating that I needed to try other medications before they would fill the one I needed. I have appealed the appealed the denied pre-authorization appeals and am waiting on the reply, which I expect to be denied. My doctor also explained that I have been on this medication previously and it is just because it is new insurance that they believe I am now an experiment. On January 15 I will be canceling my policy and returning to BCBS.
