Disgusting greedy company. I would give 0 stars if I could. Elderly mother paralyzed on one side of body, on continuous oxygen, has been in a hospital bed almost 2 months now, had respiratory failure, pneumonia, and sepsis. Hospital determined she needed acute rehab in a skilled nursing facility to get her strength up before returning back to her apartment. Hospital submitted it for insurance authorization. United Healthcare DENIED it saying she does not need skilled nursing in the acute rehab. I am LIVID. WHAT IS THE POINT OF INSURANCE IF THEY DENY YOU WHEN IT IS FOR SOMETHING SERIOUS. I RELISH A DAY WHEN THEY FACE RECOURSE: LAWSUITS, BEING SHUT DOWN BY THE GOVERNMENT. DENYING LEGITIMATE HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE REQUESTS SHOULD BE A CRIME PUNISHABLE BY LAW AND SUBJECT TO AN INSURANCE COMPANY BEING SHUT DOWN BY THE GOVERNMENT.

Terrible company
Customer service is completely unorganized and never on the same page. Every time I call I'm giving different information and wrong information at that. No one seems to be able to answer any questions that you ask them about your plan. The people that you deal with on the phone are very nice and pleasant, but they seem to have absolutely no idea what they're talking about.

The worst insurance company I have…
The worst insurance company I have dealt with in my 44 years of working. They are incompetent, poor understanding of what preventive health care is. I am diabetic and they do not cover blood draws, incomprehensible. I paid more in my first month in co-pays with them, then I have in any other entire year with different insurance companies. They are deceptive and will make promises (lies) to get your business ands then say its not covered.

Had my MRI denied that was asked for by my oncologist at MD Anderson, to keep track of my cancer. Deemed not necessary, will be appealing. My oncologist and surgeon both said MRI is the standard for my cancer

Create an easy communication pathway for your members
Provide your clients with better means to reach you. Both my husband and I have tried multiple paths to communicate with UHC. At some point we were told to email our concerns. Then when we tried that, access to email was denied. What is UHC afraid of? Is UHC so out of control they need to hide from their clients? As a patient of Essentia Health in MN, my healthcare world was turned upside down when Essentia had finally had enough of the delays and denials of needed procedures and treatments, and finally dropped UHC patients. An agreement was subsequently reached last autumn and the relationship was extended for 2025. Meanwhile, I was desperate to locate a rheumatologist anywhere near my home in north-central MN. None within 50 miles. We are in our later 70s and long drives even in daytime hours are not easy. I still have no answer to this quest. After shedding many tears, and nearly ready to move back to Florida BCBS, the 2025 agreement was reached. By that time, my rheumatologist had moved on. So now I sit with no rheumatologist, having a serious autoimmune condition that is not curable. Frankly, I feel betrayed. Additionally, I should share that at various doctors' appts., providers communicate their displeasure with UHC. This is frankly embarrassing to their patients. Optum pharmacy is not a favorite among doctors we have dealt with, as well as pharmacists. What on earth is going on at UHC? As an IBM retiree spouse, where do we turn? How can we reach a "real" person without constantly being put on hold, told to call back, or asked to send a message that is rarely responded to. Then told to email our concerns only to learn that that also is no longer an option? UHC, you need to get off the floor and get these issues resolved ASAP. My husband is desperately needing a back surgery, and he, as a 30-year employee of IBM is struggling to get the approval he needs for the physical therapy UHC themselves require. WHAT??!! This is, in a word, outrageous. Someone at the top of UHC needs to listen up to their clientele.
