I used to think UHC was amazing, but since 2024 that's not true. Being told that I'd get reimbursed & then they don't reimburse AND not being given a reason. Suddenly not paying for doctors. Being told to get a pre-authorization and they'd pay for it, BUT they won't. I, literally, do what I have been told to do BUT they don't follow through on their end. Suddenly don't cover my optometrist, who I've seen for years, but they won't even send me a list of eye doctors they will approve. SOOO much stuff... Copy of claims & other papers that they legally have to send to me, but aren't. Yes, I'm even dealing with the corporate office for some of this...and yes, I'm still being lied to. UHC has gone from great to infuriating and not caring about my medical needs at all. I've tried to reach out to a lot of people, including John Rex & Andrew Witty, but...got "pawned off" to Susan Cassidy...she has blatantly lied in emails & over the phone. I wonder if those men even know that I'd reached out to them. If they'd fix these issues, which they already know about these & more, I would very quickly put out a review that they've messed up, but apologized and fixed everything. It wouldn't cost them too much, either. (*I have tooooo many receipts & pictures to post on here, but I have a lot!)

Cancelled my insurance without telling me
1. Extremely poor customer service communication. Their "advocates" can't communicate well at all and several times didn't do what they said they would do.
2. I entered incorrect banking information when trying to set up auto pay. The email they sent back said "If your payment is unsuccessful, we will send you an email". They then cancelled my insurance due to no payment without sending me an email to tell me that it was unsuccessful. They never told me. The same day they cancelled me i received an email from them saying "Make the most of your plan today" I was deceived. I found out from my physical therapist upon arrival a week later. Now I'm responsible for the bill.
-Train your advocates better.
-You can send me an email telling me that i have insurance, but you can't send me one that says i'm cancelled?
Terrible, predatory company practices.

Sad Coverage
Truly the worse insurance. I used to have Anthem Blue Cross and they used to approved any branded meds super fast. United just doesn’t do the job. FRUSTRATING.

United Healthcare uses bait and switch…
United Healthcare uses bait and switch techniques. Sells you one plan, then changes it in Jan and won’t let you disenroll even after calling two people one of which said I was cancelled. Then they say they can’t cancel me. On phone with their Philippines customer service (why are American health dollars going to jobs there?). They are a rip off. Don’t start! They change the prices mid year and call it “personalized billing”. (It is theft and fraud). They changed my total plan this year without my permission. Part D went from 27/mo in 2023, 42per month in 2024 and 82.10per month in 2025 AND they haven’t paid on the cost of ANY medicine except for the first month!!!! I also have to pay them the 184 also out of social security check and they take 151 from my bank account. They made sure they got ALL my data. A bank account number, social security and Medicare number, and credit card number for the first two part D payments! They pay some on the original Medicare but if they screw anything up it is impossible to get anything changed. The Philippines is there to say “so sorry”. We are just here to explain how things work. United Healthcare is fraudulently taking American Healthcare dollars, individual people’s data, and sharing it with their many companies who call you to see if you want to be admitted!!!! I asked my Dr and he knew nothing about it. It was a United healthcare non working number when I called back. They are ripping off the American people! Their CEO (the big one who didn’t get shot) Sir Andrew Witty, ceo of both United healthcare and optum. (With optum, They are trying to do both patient care and insurance—-a conflict of interest.). Back to Andrew witty, he got an award from the Queen for his EConomic Impact on England from his work with United healthcare. He also got awards from the pharmaceutical industry for helping them. How much of our Medicare pharmaceutical dollars are going to countries that were once English colonies??? (With the dollars going to the Englishmen who originally started.). How many people in how many countries have my name, social security number and other data in their computers? You have to give all this info to the agent that enrolled you and then when you want out, that agent says he can’t disenroll you even though he took all your info and enrolled you. He said have to call the 1800 number. I did. He said I was disenrolled. A month later, I get a letter with a form of request for disenrollment. If you fill it out you have to agree that they can choose the date you disenroll. I was in the phone with their Philippine customer service for FOUR HoUrS telling them I won’t fill out the form because I don’t agree. I did send a letter that next day demanding yo be disenrolled. (This is just from part D, the one they don’t pay anything on anyway). Today I got another letter saying I’m not allowed to disenroll from United healthcare part D. They are crooks!!! I first called the agent end of Jan when they changed my plan without my permission. He was out of town and when he got back had the flu. It was Feb 25 when he could finally talk with me and when I cancelled on the 1800 number. Today is April 3 and it is still not cancelled. I guess I’ll have to die if I want to cancel. Maybe we can all do that. That would end their money tree. They are promoting us being miserable with their “coverage” and their frustrating oh so sorry customer service. I would have kept the original Medicare and plan G with them, but now I’m mad and someone else will get my healthcare dollars next year. Never again United healthcare. Don’t mess with Americans!!! Notice Mr witty hiding out in England and letting his USA ceo get shot. The sympathy people had for the shooter says a lot!!! United healthcare has killed a lot of people and made others miserable then manipulated their statistics to make it look otherwise. For example, if they deny a drug, but you still pay cash for it while going through the useless year long appeal process, they don’t count it in your deductible or as anything anyone paid. They don’t include that drug at all. Even then, they don’t pay. The patient pays the total cost. Good rx is cheaper than the copay on everything this year and the 82.10/month is wasted. I could use that to buy my medicines and supplements instead of gifting it to fraudulent whitecollar criminals who have been chosen by our government to get and spend our health dollars. AARP is also a CHOSEN company by our government…,why do I have to be a member if AARP in order to get the cheapest price on Medicare???? Then they have a target list of older, sicker people to target with advertising and possibly to be coordinating people’s assets with their medical records so some business can steal your assets when you are sick and dying. None of medical care is private anymore since HIPPA—

UHC advantage does not cover Wegovy…
UHC advantage does not cover Wegovy even when a doctor appeals the denial. I had to talk to someone in the Phillipines who did not understand my concerns and could only say..."So sorry". I was on hold for 35 minutes. Apparently I must have a heart attack or a stroke to be covered for a drug that could save my life.

Denials, Bad Customer Service, and Disappointment
I carried United Healthcare dental/vision insurance since 2022 until yesterday, underwritten by Golden Rule.
It was difficult to find a provider who accepted this plan. I don't know why, but most providers had to dig to even find its association with United Healthcare, despite theirs being the biggest logo on the card. This wasn't a huge deal, as I eventually found a dentist/optometrist in-network.
The first red flag arrived when UHC rejected a mouth guard claim. My dentist ordered one for me as a medical necessity, since my tooth enamel was being rapidly ground down during sleep. The price was high: ~$700.
I would understand if UHC rejected the claim under the pretense of it being overpriced-- which I believe it was-- and instead offered an alternative solution, but their official reasoning for the rejected mouth guard was that, according to my dentist, "We do not consider mouth guards necessary preventative equipment under your plan."
What else is a mouth guard for, UHC? To get better at chewing gum? Will you cover the costs of restorative surgery when my tooth enamel is ground gone?
Again, not a huge deal, I just bought a cheap mouthguard online, but it's a small glimpse at this company's philosophy. Equipment and procedures deemed medically necessary by medical professionals? They'll stonewall and cut corners every step.
I've heard tell of them even bringing in their own, non-medically-trained reps to decide if procedures, deemed necessary by medical professionals, can be avoided or replaced with less effective and cheaper alternatives, to the detriment of patients.
They don't stand for the people they serve. Real people with lives and bodies and minds. People who could avoid pain down the road through preventative care upfront. Dying people who might have a better chance through an important, albeit expensive, procedure. They only stand for their own wallet.
The final straw came when I was forced to deal with their terrible customer support. I could no longer log into my account, despite having an active subscription, due to a site error on their part.
After getting past their AI chatbot (useless for anything but basic tasks), I was able to chat with a human across the world. I feel bad for them, having such a terrible job and surely no more love for UHC than I, but they ignored all the evidence of the issue I sent, including the error code and screen captures. I followed their advice to clear cookies / caches and try different browsers, despite having tried that already, and their only suggestion was to try again. Finally, they just said, "Let's make this easy for you," sent the number to the wrong help-line, and disconnected without warning.
When I finally got on the line with the right people, I just told them to cancel the plan. Every step of the way with this company has been a pain and a disappointment.
Even as far as health insurance companies go-- an extremely low bar-- UHC has seized the shovel and is leading the charge in digging a giant hole toward despicability. They're a tongue-eating louse on the American healthcare industry, the poster child for middle men who serve only to skim, not serve.
Their bankruptcy, which in any righteous world would have arrived years ago, should be celebrated in the streets.

UHC (Wrongful disenrollment) cancelled…
UHC (Wrongful disenrollment) cancelled brothers health insurance in the middle of cancer treatments. Stated he was disenrolled because he had new company for insurance. A LIE!! He did not and they could not tell us who it was. He insisted on reinstatement based on there reason for disenrollment and was transferred to new enrollment and schedules for insurance coverage month 26 days from date of call. Reinstatement was the purpose of the call finally after 10 calls reached a representative who promised to escalate coverage to date of disenrollment at a tier level within days another 8 calls later it is as always a 5- 10 days escalation. Only 2 days after that call it had fallen to tier 1 priority and rep will escalate to tier.2. waited 3 days back to tier 3 and escalated to 7- 10 days for reinstatement. Nit to mention multiple conversations with representatives that English was a second language.i hope you never have a love one in need of chemo and find yourself of their coverage cruelty. Our hearts are broken!!!
