I was told they accepted my insurance but then received a bill for almost $400 where they claimed insurance didn’t pay anything…and it was all for absolutely nothing. The Dr. didn’t listen to anything I said and prescribed an antidepressant that I’ve been on before that doesn’t work for me. Please don’t waste your time or money on this predatory company.

Useless!
Useless!! Waste of time. I filled out all info. Got a call from a rep I could barely understand - call center I presume. All set for call tomorrow. Really looking forward to it because I am depressed and anxious.
Now they email me they don’t accept my insurance.
GIGANTIC waste of time

Giving Zeros
I reached out and made an appointment with Talkitry. I came to this company bc my former psychiatrist no longer took my insurance and I'm currently on medication and only have enough til September. I explained this multiple times. You matched me with a dr and I had my appointment. 45 mins through the session, she tells me I'm too complicated for her to treat and ended the appointment. I wasn't given advice or anything to help me with finding a different doctor within the comapny. Now I have to make the a plan for when I have psychotic episode bc I ran out of medication bc this incompetent dr they hired couldn't treat me.

not for the mentally ill girlys
First red flag was the emails, literal broken english. Second I specifically requested for a specialist in a specific illness and the psychiatrist I matched with denied they did once on call. Third they were rude due to me and condescending. I had connection issues out of my control leading to them ending the call early. Because they canceled the call early I got charged for no showing because of an issue I had no control over and had explained this as well.

Insurance not accepted
My wife found Talkiatry via ZocDoc which stated that our insurance was in-network. Lo and behold, it wasn't, and no one at Talkiatry told us so until we received a bill for >$400. For an appt that was nothing more than the doctor getting to know my wife. ($250 for the consult as well as $175 for the "psychiatry" component)
We have now contacted them twice to claim false advertising for not telling us that we were actually out-of-network but to no avail. They express some vague sympathy and put in a "ticket" but we still get billed. I'm a doctor myself, and my schedulers tell every new patient whether or not they are in-network within the first 20 seconds of the phone call. This is therefore a serious deficiency on the part of Talkiatry.

Total ship show
Total ship show. Third world country service. They barely speak English and nearly impossible to escalate a concern.
If you didn't require mental health care
You will when you talk to the illiterate customer care coordinator.

Provider was GREAT, but that's all that was great!
My provider (Dr. Lawrence Stansberry) was incredible. He truly listened to me, openly discussed the best course of action, and responded quickly to emails. (This is the ONLY reason they get two stars versus one.)
Customer service and billing are frustrating and overall designed to take advantage of patients that are seeking help. I'll try to be brief...
- Initially, I was told that they would review to ensure my insurance would cover appointments and I would be told enough in advance so I could cancel if it would not. This did not happen. After receiving my information, I did not hear from them again.
- I was sent a bill via email that said I should reply with questions. I replied asking for a detailed billing statement including insurance payout like you normally get from any other doctor. I got the canned, automatic response, but didn't hear from them again until they resent virtually the exact same bill.
- The resent bill had charges for my follow-up appointment, but again contained no additional details. This time I called. I told someone I wanted a detailed bill, and she said it would be sent. It was never received.
- I emailed again requesting a detailed billing statement. This time I got a response saying that they would send a detailed bill but that they had resubmitted the claim to insurance.
- Unfortunately, in the end, I just paid both because I couldn't get a response and didn't want to take the credit hit. Two appointments cost me more than $500.
- Today (and what prompted this review), I received a bill for $29.55. The balance breakdown shows the following:
Total billed: $357.91
Insurance covered: BCBS of New York: -$0.00
You paid: -$328.36
Amount due: $29.55
WHY would I pay $328.36 and not pay the remaining $29.55? The amount I was originally billed was $328.36 for my second appointment. Now apparently that amount has gone up and I owe thirty bucks more. I'm kind of scared to pay it b/c maybe they'll keep asking for more.
I am a mental health provider, and despite my amazing appointment with the doctor, this experience has been a hindrance to my mental health. It may feel like an easy way to get the assistance you need, but I think it must be a scam. I felt misled and ignored by the company itself.

Outrageous bills. This is crazy
Wow, I read reviews. Not these reviews though. First bill was 383 dollars. I will find help elsewhere. They must pay google to be at the top of the page. That’s unaffordable care and is the exact opposite of what you would expect from a company “willing to help” people in need!
