Terrible customer service, the gallery archiving is really a disaster. I have an order I cannot process pending for 20 days - all because of their arbitray archiving process.

I don't see how this clunky archive…
I don't see how this clunky archive system doesn't destroy what has otherwise been a great company to work with. It's a disaster.
Response to Zenfolio:
I understand you need to find ways to keep costs down. I do think it was a big mistake to move to an archiving system that fundamentally changes the functionality for professionals who use your service for business. It may have been an arrogant assumption that this would be well received by your clients. The archive system changed the entire service and now I know I am not the only one looking for other options with other companies. It's a shame because I have always liked Zenfolio. The thing is, I can use my own hard drives for archiving. That wasn't the point. That wasn't what I signed up for.

Thank you for your longstanding support, David. Zenfolio has been a trusted platform for professional photographers for nearly twenty years. As part of our commitment to improving our services, we’ve recently transitioned to the Cloud to enhance responsiveness and security for the billions of images you entrust us with. This move allows us to scale efficiently and manage costs to keep our services affordable.
We fully understand that changes to how a website functions can be concerning. Archive promises many benefits for both site performance and organization, but we also realize it will take time to learn how to make it work for your business.
We apologize for any frustration this has caused you. If you need any further information or help with your account, please do not hesitate to reach out to our support team at [email protected]. Thank you.

13 years with Zenfolio - this is my last
13 years with Zenfolio. Planning for this to be my last.
When it worked it was great, but there were issues with slowness and downtime. Then they moved to a new platform with other issues. The final straw is the blanket archiving of galleries. My clients find it exceptionally frustrating to have to wait hours to access their images. I find it ridiculous that a photo hosting site will arbitrarily decide which galleries have long term use (or force me to spend hours going through hundreds of them).
Today I log into a vague message of apology about an issue (but not explained. I click on the More info page to figure out what it is, and it returns a 404 page. I check Zenfolio FB page and they've turned off comments. I try the chatbot and the AI bot has no answer. There is no support or community to engage with. This seems to be a platform in terminal decline.
Response from ZenfolioMar 25, 2024
Thank you for your longstanding support, and I am truly sorry that you could not get through to us, Vince. It is unfortunate that the bot did not give you the option to get through to an agent, and I will look into this further. You can also always contact us via email at [email protected].
We deeply regret any inconvenience and frustration caused by Archive.
In line with this transition, we’ve implemented an archiving policy for galleries inactive for 14 months, excluding galleries linked off of your site menu at the start of the service and blogs. We fully understand that changes to how a website functions can be concerning. Archive promises many benefits for both site performance and organization, but we also realize it will take time to learn how to make it work for your business.
Again, I am sorry for any concerns, and I have had a member of our support team reach out to you personally with further information and to offer assistance.

Zen needs to ditch the ill conceived "archiving" scheme!
Echoing what everyone else is saying, this archiving scheme is an unmitigated disaster. What's especially frustrating is that if Zen had spent the engineering resources they spent implementing archiving on a migration program to move "classic" users to their newer platform, it's very possible the classic users would be satisfied, rather than getting ready to cancel.
Hard to believe that taking down photos when you're in the business of hosting photos would make your customers unhappy. :(

We deeply regret any inconvenience and frustration caused by Archive. We are fully dedicated to swiftly resolving these issues. Restoring your business to normal operation is of utmost importance to us. Please know that your images and data remain safe and secure, and we are devoted to serving you well into the future on a modern, dynamic platform.
In our ongoing efforts to enhance efficiency and speed for our photographers, we have made significant investments to transition our processing and storage operations from a traditional physical data center to an advanced Cloud environment. This comprehensive move encompassed migrating 20 million galleries, totaling 4.5 billion images.
Unfortunately, about 1,000 customers have encountered issues related to the Archive process, and for that, we deeply apologize. The team has made significant progress in resolving these issues, and we anticipate that the majority of them will be resolved over the next 72 hours.
We recognize that the recent issues with the platform have led to considerable disappointment and inconvenience over the past few weeks. Once again, we apologize and appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to work to resolve these issues.

The imminent demise of Zenfolio?
I joined Zenfolio in 2011 and it was one of the best decisions I made. It was easy to use, and with an excellent support setup, provided exactly what I wanted from a website. Over the years, though, glitches began to surface with "improvements" which didn't work properly and represented, in my view, change for changes sake. Tech support deteriorated to the extent that responses became slower and slower with "if you don't like it, leave" becoming a fairly common response to genuine complaints. I retired in 2014 and, as a consequence, can't afford to replace the 2010 iMac that I bought just before I joined Zenfolio. It still works and, subject to certain limitations, does what I want it to do but it's dreadfully slow when uploading to ZF. Now with this archiving fiasco, where images disappear without notice and, as I gather from other users, are extremely reluctant to return within what might be considered a reasonable time. It is disruptive to workflows and, perhaps more seriously, the appearance of grey blanks in an indexed gallery structure looks unprofessional to our customers. The general disapproval of users shows clearly that archiving was not an improvement which was fully thought through before becoming live - or would "dead" be a more appropriate word. So the obvious question is what are you going to do to stop the flight of disgruntled users? Without users, Zenfolio will NOT survive. We need to see archiving ditched immediately: there is no other choice if you want to survive.
Response from ZenfolioMar 22, 2024
I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for your years of loyalty, Karl. It means the word to us. We sincerely apologize for any concern or frustration caused by the Archive feature. Please know that your mages and data are secure with us, and our dedication to providing you with service on a modern, dynamic platform is stronger than ever.
In our efforts to deliver superior efficiency and speed to our photographers, we have significantly upgraded our infrastructure, moving from a traditional data center to a state-of-the-art Cloud environment. This transition included migrating 20 million galleries, which amounted to over 4.5 billion images.
Unfortunately, several customers have experienced issues stemming from the Archive process, and for that, we are deeply sorry. Our team has made considerable progress in addressing these issues, and we are optimistic that most will be resolved in the coming 72 hours.
We acknowledge the disappointment and inconvenience the recent platform issues may have caused over the last few weeks. I thank you for your patience and understanding as we forge ahead with solutions to these challenges, and please be in touch with our support team should you require further assistance.

15 years time to go
I have been with Zenfolio Classic for 15 years but now I think it is end of the road ! The Archive system is chaos, 19 of my Galleries gone, I applied "restore" in my dashboard thinking I would get my work back within 12 hours, but here we are three days later and the wonderful spinning wheel keeps on turning ! I have "reached out" to support via the correct email, only to receive a canned response. I fear my Galleries are gone forever. Support is failing badly.
The sad thing is I joined NextZen thinking to avoid the Archive nonsense only to find they mean to implement it there too. Take note those that move to the NEW PLATFORM !
If so I will not be renewing either of my memberships.
Response from ZenfolioMar 22, 2024
Hi, Barabra. We cannot thank you enough for your loyalty, and sincerely apologize for any frustration and inconvenience you've experienced with Archive. Our team is committed to resolving these matters as quickly as possible. Please be assured that your images are safe and secure.
To improve efficiency and processing speed for our photographers, we've invested heavily in transitioning our operations from traditional data centers to a cutting-edge Cloud environment. This significant shift involved transferring 20 million galleries, which includes 4.5 billion images.
Regrettably, some customers faced issues during the Archive transition. Our team has made substantial progress in fixing these problems, and we expect the vast majority to be resolved within the next 72 hours.
We understand the recent platform issues have caused significant disappointment and we truly hope to regain your trust should you decide to stay. It does look like your gallery issues are being addressed and more information will be coming soon. Thank you for your patience.

Time To Move On ?
After 15+years with Zenfolio is it time to change is the big question. The recent changes do not benefit customers, achieving galleries limits sales opportunities and it doesn't work ! I have 47 galleries that have been in the process of archiving for over several weeks. I have issues trying to download original uploaded galleries and some single images. No response from tech support. You really need to get your act together or lose long standing clients.
Response from ZenfolioMar 22, 2024
Hi, Michael. Thank you for being such a wonderful, long-time customer. We cannot thank you enough. Please know that your images are safe and secure and that our team is working diligently- we anticipate that the majority of these issues will be resolved over the next 72 hours.
We understand the recent platform issues have caused significant disappointment and inconvenience. It does appear that your galleries are being worked on as we speak, and our support team will follow up as soon as there is more information. Thank you for your patience and understanding- we want nothing more than to regain your trust, and to provide you with the service you so very much deserve.

Zenfolio "Archive" feature is making my site useless!
I have been a loyal user of Zenfolio for the last 12 years. My site is imagesofpolo.com
Due to the fact that Zenfolio have instigated an archiving feature my archive is virtually useless as more and more galleries become archived. Some galleries are not fully archived and do not show in the archive section but the pictures are not accessible and cannot be downloaded if I need them.
Trying to unarchive these photographs takes days and some even not possible. Unfortunately, Zenfolio seems to think that people do not want to see or buy older photographs.
I have contacted Zenfolio support on several occasions and in fact they have not replied to my three emails in the last five days. Furthermore the live chat seems to have disappeared.
It is virtually impossible to operate my business in this way and will possibly have to look for an alternative supplier in the near future unless these problems are resolved soon and the archive system maybe scrapped or made more user friendly.
Response from ZenfolioMar 14, 2024
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with our archive service implementation and the delay in our support response. Please know that providing excellent service is our utmost priority, and we deeply regret falling short of your expectations on this occasion.
We understand just how important it is to have a website that works as expected. Our team has taken your concerns seriously, and a supervisor has reached out to you personally. We greatly appreciate your continued patience and understanding as we work towards resolving these ongoing issues.
