Absolutely disgusting level of service…
Absolutely disgusting level of service from the Derby branch. A few months ago, I booked my car in for a software update. I was told it would take two full days, which I accepted without an issue. That was where the problems started. The car actually took four days, and throughout that time there was virtually no communication or updates. I had to repeatedly chase them just to find out when my car would be ready. Two days before the booking, I received a text asking whether I wanted any additional work carried out. I booked an air-conditioning service for £140, as well as two new keys for my key fobs. The air-conditioning service is particularly important to what has happened since. When I collected the car, the air conditioning was working perfectly. However, three weeks later, it completely stopped blowing cold air. I contacted the dealership and was initially told the earliest appointment they could give me was six weeks away. I asked to speak to the manager, and suddenly they were able to find me a slot within 3–4 days. The car was investigated and I was then told that it requires a temperature sensor. I was also told that the part was out of stock and on back order, with no timeframe for when it would arrive. I've since contacted several other VW dealers, including their partner site in Leicester, and I've been told that this particular part would normally take around 10–14 days. I've now been waiting 40 days, with no meaningful updates from VW. I've had to chase them twice myself. But the biggest question I raised with the service department was: Why wasn't this issue picked up when the air-conditioning was supposedly serviced in June? The response I received was that they have no record of my car having an air-conditioning service. This makes absolutely no sense to me. Before the £140 air-conditioning service, the system wasn't blowing cold air. Immediately after the service, it was blowing cold air perfectly. Three weeks later, it stopped working completely. So what exactly was carried out for the £140 I paid? Was the system actually serviced, or was it simply topped up with refrigerant? If it was properly serviced, why wasn't the underlying problem identified? And if no air-conditioning service was carried out, why was I charged £140 for it? When I questioned this, rather than properly addressing my concerns, the service member changed the subject and appeared keen to usher me out of the showroom. Looking back, I wish I'd pushed the issue much further at the time. I'm now left with a car that still doesn't have functioning air conditioning, a part I've been waiting 40 days for despite being told elsewhere it should normally take 10–14 days, and absolutely no proactive communication from the dealership. The whole experience has been extremely disappointing. I paid for a service that, according to the dealership themselves, apparently isn't even recorded on my vehicle's history. I would like a proper explanation of what work was actually carried out for the £140 air-conditioning service, why the fault wasn't identified at the time, and why I've had to repeatedly chase for updates ever since. This is not the level of service I would expect from a Volkswagen dealership.
