The only thing UHC is good at to be very honest and frustratedly honest, is acting innocent and then making you run around in circles talking to every department to eventually arrive at zero help/guidance/transparency to getting an answer or solution to your problem (such as prior authorization for a medication you've been taking for years for a chronic disease, which UHC covered for years, and suddenly decided to stop beginning of this year, and it's a disgrace, they have what looks like clear criteria's on how to get the prior authorization approved published online but when my doctor requests we immediately get denied, we appeal with additional support and the medical judgment of my doctor who I've been seeing for YEARS and it gets rejected by a random doctor that APPARENTLY knows better than my doctor about what's good for me and employed by UHC who also rejects the appeal with random counterpoints that ARE NOT OUTLINED IN THE PUBLISHED CRITERIA GUIDANCE for what's required for approval, that is not okay and is apparent that guidance criteria was just published as a PR stunt to seem transparent but really the total opposite all because UHC suddenly doesn't want to pay for the medicine this year and decided that I should take one of the alternative (aka inferior and outdated medications). I have so much more to say but won’t let me write much more so I’ll leave it at this but avoid at all costs, they are the definition of snake oil salesman in the guise of a health insurance company and that doesn’t even do it justice.

Unfortunately, there is not the ability to post negative stars. HORRIBLE, HORRENDOUS, DEPLORABLE. The WORST customer service (that's the name of the department, but completely inappropriate name). Tried to transfer prescriptions to mail order (because it's ($40+ more a month to get them at the retail pharmacy). Could barely understand the person on the phone over the static (each transfer degrades the quality of the call). WASTED 3 HOURS OF MY MORNING! Had to push off work to resolve this. Who knows???? Maybe the prescription will come?????? We are FORCED due to costs to use mail order pharmacy, but can't get the prescriptions filled. Maybe they're just waiting for us to have a major health incident due to not receiving our prescriptions. If you have a choice in health insurance companies LOOK ELSEHWERE!

Abuse from Employee: Thursday 1-19-23 approx. 4:50pm California time. Come on Management Step Up! A rep picked up, did not say anything so I said hello, hello. Nothing . But I could hear talking in the background for a bit. So the rep just sat laughing while I waited over 4 minutes to get help after being on hold for minutes till I was transferred to this POS. Hello, hello nothing. How can you allow your employees to abuse the public needing help? How can you allow your employees to sit and do nothing? It’s absolute abuse.

Garbage scam company. Less than 6 months of out cancer survivorship and experiencing alarming symptoms that signify That my cancer could be back… denied PET scan and CT scan even after peer to peer session with my oncologist. The reasoning? Because my last PET scan taken right after cancer showed no cancer… yeah of course it didn’t, I just finished chemo and radiation two weeks before. I am at an absolute loss. I could be weeks away from dying and wouldn’t never know until I passed away because of being denied coverage. What am I paying for if I can’t even receive health care from a health care company? This company is horrific, inhumane, and downright criminal.

Repeatedly Customer Service Reps promise to call you back because they cant find the answer to your question or resolve the problem. They never call back do not believe them. Agents are untrained, unempowered, and only keep repeating the same things over and over, that sometimes do not apply. Have sent in out of pocket reimbursement claims that are ignored. Have has double charges on autopay, And had a REP say I needed to talk to my employer about my plan even though I am retired and on their Medicare Advantage Plan. By far the worst customer service also verified by Insurance Agents and Medical office staff.

Two and a half months and 8 phone calls and they still can't mail me an ID card!!!!

Would give a ZERO to United Healthcare. Have had them for 2 years and their customer service reps are in India and are not only un-trained but considerably low IQ or COMMON SENSE. Over and over problems with claims being paid incorrectly and when you finally get a live person they are totally UNPROFESSIONAL. You have to be willing to tolerater their stupidity for 50 minutes before they "get it". I was told today that my prescription was not covered because my plan was terminated..OMG I changed to Blue Cross whose reps are in the US and that isnt effective until January 1st!!! He even told me if I wanted this prescription covered I would have to stay with United Healthcare. I asked for a supervisor and he sent me to an A**hole sales rep who scolded me for being upset..When I told him I was recording the call he quickly cut me off and sent me back to the Customer Service call que....Wow oh wow, I am so adamant about people being ripped off because of these special CSR;s..especially older people who just cant or wont argue with them and give up. Save yourself lots of grief and stay away from this low life company!

My very first interaction was simply activating my card and creating an online account. It took 3 different agents and 45 minutes as their online portal was down. Please Lord let their coverage be far better. Beyond a nightmare.
