I have been trying for two years to get the mental health care I desperately need through United Health Care and Optum, but they have made it impossible. I've called numerous doctors listed as preferred physicians and therapists, only to hear: 1. They no longer work here. 2. We are no longer accepting UHC. 3. We are not accepting new patients. I frequently encounter incorrect phone numbers or fax lines only. I've spent countless hours making calls with no success. I suffer from severe mental health issues and have been hospitalized twice in the past two years because I can't find medical care through them. I live in a city with a population of about 1 million people, yet UHC cannot find a doctor accepting patients or their insurance in my area. They even suggested sending me 3+ hours away to see a psychiatrist. I can only imagine how bad it is if you live in a rural area. If you or anyone you know is considering UHC with Optum for mental health care, they ARE NOT the place to go.

Locked out of access to the website. Kept looping me around when I tried to enter my login. Virtual chat said to click Password Reset but wasn't allowed the option. Spoke to several people who kept passing me off. Had to repeat my info. Each wanted me to answer irrelevant questions they had answers to (They would not answer mine about why I was locked out to begin with) that wasted time. My recent home visit had not been rewarded. They said they'd update that. I need a new primary doctor and got asked about my primary doctor, not did I have a new one, but had I seen my primary doctor for my yearly. No.

Here's a letter from my Dentist. I've been trying to get reimbursed for service done 9 Months ago!! My poor dentisr finally writes today: Good morning Shawn. I am sending your claim from October of last year AGAIN. The UHC representative said that I only sent a pre-authorization which is a bunch of bull. I have sent this claim so many times by mail and electronically. Being that I have been in this business for over 38 years, I know how and where to send insurance claims. This has been so frustrating with them and their excuses of why not to pay. I am dealing with multiple patient claims and non-payment from UHC. I hope to get this resolved soon just as I am sure you are too. I am so sorry that this is happening.

Impossible to get issues resolved with UHC Contacts. They have the worst service and all communication is on the phone; therefore, leaving you no written proof of requests for action and they deny receiving the calls even though I have proof on my phone. You have to call and call and call. In addition, there is no sales tax in my state, but they insisted to keep the sales tax charge. I will never recommend using this service

We switched from Bluecross to my husbands insurance plan with United Healthcare this year. It has been the absolute worst insurance coverage I’ve had in 15 years of working and paying for my own insurance. I had an ACL/meniscus surgery 5 years ago and have some new knee pain, bruising and clicking. Upon seeing my orthopedic surgeon he recommended an MRI to see what’s going on. After a 4 week review period, UHC declined the prescription for imaging stating it wasn’t medically necessary. Utter BS. I am now pregnant with my 2nd. Just earlier this year my OB sent out a note stating they can no longer accept UHC insurance because they aren’t being fairly compensated for there services in comparison to other insurance companies. I now need to find a new practice to go to without any previous relationship or knowledge of my medical history. Pregnancy and childbirth are one of the most vulnerable experiences women go through. To start over with a new OB absolutely infuriates me. UHC is the greediest insurance company with no interest in providing adequate coverage to their customers.

The worst. Absolutely the worst. Claims process is broken and a game they play to keep your money as long as they can. I’ve spent too many hours over the past 6months trying to get reimbursement for something I was required to prepay. Their ‘fraud prevention unit’ holds onto your claim, doesn’t answer, doesn’t return messages, and then they have the nerve to tell me I’ve not provided them the necessary info to process the claim and reject it. If I could never deal with them again I wouldn’t. If you’re an employer who cares about your employees and reputation stay away from UHC.

United Healthcare has made our experience as customers and patients extremely difficult. My wife needs an MRI due to leg pain, so we can better determine the source of the pain. She has had the pain for 4-5 months and already done physical therapy. UNH denied the request, and the customer service rep suggested if it was leg pain that a lower lumbar MRI was questionable, and if it bothered her she should go to the ER. Hours of phone calls with them has yielded us nothing. We will end up paying 100% out of pocket, which is a win for UnitedHealthcare of course. This is a horrible company to deal with as a customer.

It isn't surprising to see. Low ratings on every site. That does reviews for this company. The lack of knowledge the representative have. For their job is beyond ridiculous. Takes several calls to get someone. Who is even able to answer your question. Clearly they don't care. Or this would have improved by now. Seeing it's their clients who aren't pleased. With the service they get from here. I used to think they were ok. Til they started to deny. Dental services that they cover. Yet had a representative. Who intentionally wrote false information. To deny the claim. This is how low they go. Not to provide the care they advertise. Don't know why I just thought of this. Complaints need to be made outside the company. For you to be acknowledged by them. Can't imagine how many people are affected. By them intentionally denying services. A client needs they need to be investigated. For the tactics they use. Against their own clients. Sure they were pleased to refuse. A needed service to a client. Every site I've seen with ratings. About them is below standard. Can't imagine older clients who may need help. Having to deal with a company. That doesn't value their clients at all. If you have a parent. With this company as insurance. Represent your loved one with them. Otherwise they'll be disregarded. Looked over treated like they don't matter. With them you don't at all. Companies like this who do clients any kind of way. When it comes to money. It will bring out the ulgyest ways. From within people even with them. Their day will come. Because of evil they show to others. I wouldn't do a job. Where I had to mustreat people. Or lie to deny them. Then sit there be ok. With wrong doing towards another human. How anyone can do that. Stay unborhered is beyond my understanding. While I look for a company. With better service the low ratings. Is screaming to people to beware. I do reviews so people will know. Who and what to beware of. BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE
