I’ve had a bad time with them. Today after numerous calls and a letter about a problem with a clinic - it’s been going on for 7 + months - I was left on the line waiting for someone to get back to me until, at 34 minutes, I had to go to an appointment.

My mental health
If I could leave a 0 I would. They are taking me out of the mental Health program I'm in and making me go to Volunteer Behavioral Health. Noone will help me stay in Firsthand they just keep hanging up on me. It's my mental health why don't my choice matter.

This company is horrible
This company is horrible. Was on a phone call for 2 and a half hours and my issue never got resolved. They transferred me 5 different "managers" and not a one of them was able to do anything. On the final transfer they hung up on me. My wife has been on medication for diabetes and after two years they denied her prescription. If you can avoid using them for health insurance I highly recommend it.

I am new and was trying to pay my first…
I am new and was trying to pay my first bill which was not deducted through the set-up EFT. On 5/20/24, at 4pm, I called the number listed for customer service 800-523-5800, the hours were 7am to 11pm eastern time. When an AI message stating their phone lines were tied up, and was hanged up on with no options.,
Next, I go to website on my AARP Medicare Supplement UnitedHealthcare [UH] card, to register at AARP Medicare and the computer already had me in the system with a username (I did not know), an unknown password, wrong cell phone number, and wrong emails. I tried using the username and tried resetting password, but it would send me to another verification page for call, email or text, and I tried every one of them, and never got a code. Below was a support website technical phone number, which I called since I was in pain, upset that I could not pay bill, frustrated with their service, as my right arm was injured 3 months ago and its numb. The agent was blunt, but he tried to help me, and he could not find me in the computer. He called several UH phones and he could not get anywhere. After 2 wasted hours, I was tired and said I would try on 5/21/24. I called customer service and was on hold for 45 minutes, then agent answer and after cell, and email verifications, and bank accounts, was finally able to make payment. However, she could not help me with signing in to either the AARP or UHC website. After hours, of unsuccessful attempts, she transferred me to Medicate Advantage, which I do not have, not to mention playing with different browsers.
I have wasted 2 days on this crab and not impressed.
I do not think its UHC but the entire Medicare system which is seriously dutiful. All this supplemental insurance companies, for as much as they charge, rather than waste so much funny in fancy envelopes and brochures, they should use the money to hire more competent staff and upgrade their websites.
I got more mad, thinking how Medical, dumped my healthcare while in the middle of trying to get medical help for my right arm because I make too much money according to their income guidelines which is not accurate for the cost of living in California. I got mad thinking, how my family and me came from Panama but worked and went to school and paid taxes, since the age of 13. worked as a registered nurse, and how now that I was forced to retire due to serious medical health issues, I do not qualify for free healthcare insurance but if you are illegal and have children, or if you are a narcissist drug addicts, you do qualify. I got even more angry thinking about how complex the Medicare system is for seniors, it is a joke, like a buffet with a bunch of letters, and payments from each one, not to mention the poor quality of care, and high deductibles and prescription copays. This should be a disgrace to the United States government, of how they view and treat older, disable citizens, specially who have paid their dues, and still continue to pay taxes on retirement and social security disability, when taxes were paid twice more before. I think this is called, double taxation.

I think AAA is the problem here
So I tried calling UHC - or AAA (still not sure who it was) - regarding a Medicare prescription plan from UHC managed by AAA for my uncle (who has dementia) to get information on why a prescription was almost $800 a month out of pocket. After being relentlessly harassed by a computer generated “assistant” who wanted me to let him (it?) help me, I finally managed to get a live person on the phone.
It wasn’t easy.
Within a minute the woman explained she couldn’t help me without my uncle’s permission. Not even generic questions. I explained that he has dementia and that he’d basically say whatever I told him to say so why bother but she was persistent in her ridiculously pedantic requirement to have a dementia patient give his approval. So, I went to wake him up to get him on the phone and she hung up on me.
Seriously.
So, I call back again, and, of course, I’m harassed all over again - repeatedly - by the AI “helper” who is clearly programmed to twist your arm at least 6 times before they put a human on the phone no matter how many times you ask for a “representative”, or “customer service”, or just a “human”. Finally, a very nice gentleman gets on the phone and after I relay the recent drama, he apologizes and starts to assist me. We’re about 3 minutes into the call when suddenly, a recording comes on the line and starts playing over our call. It’s the kind of recording you hear when you’re put on hold and the computer just keeps apologizing for the wait and tries to fill the void with more help by talking about things you don’t (care to) know. Like, “did you know ……. ask a representative for more information or checkout our website at www. cantbebotheredtotalk. com. Then, music. But only a little, before the voice comes back on to tell me more crap I don’t care about.
And all the while, the REAL guy who’s trying to help just keeps talking in the background, as if I can hear everything he’s saying and there’s not an annoying voice loudly talking all the while. Maddening. FINALLY, after about a minute of this, I ask (hoping he can hear ME) if he can just call me back (because God knows I’ve no desire to go through the “helper” computer aided friend all over again, and then, again, explain why I’m calling. He says, let’s just give it a minute.
So we wait. And he just keeps talking away.
And wait.
Finally, while the music is playing, I decide to chance a question, only to be cut-off again by the “Did you know?” Message again.
So I hang up.
Clearly, UHC, or AAA (I can’t tell who) is not ready for prime time.
Needless to say, there was no call back.
So. Here I am. No better off than when I started. No closer to getting answers or relief for a $2,326.11 bill for a 90 supply of dementia medication.
Full disclosure though. My parents have a plan through UHC and THAT number and THOSE people have really been nothing short of fabulous. Admittedly, you never get the same person twice if your call is disconnected for some reason but overall they’ve been very helpful and provide a lot of resources I’ve not seen through other insurers. Each year a nurse comes to their home to give them a full physical (including some labs I think) and they get a gift card for being proactive with their health. They have a silver-sneakers like program available, and even support to come to the house to help with medication, cleaning, cooking, etc. Better than my military retiree benefits!
I really think AAA is the problem here.

I have UHC and it is terrible
I have UHC and it is terrible. Very limited provider network, horrible customer service. If you try to call for assistance, you are routed to an overseas call center. Everyone is incompetent, they give inconsistent answers, frequently hang up on you, and there are no extensions to get back to the same person. Every time you get disconnected it’s back to the beginning of the robo menu and when you eventually get back to a human they will have no idea what was discussed previously. Their provider directory is inaccurate and out of date. It feels like this system was specifically designed to prevent people from getting the care they need. Would give 0 stars if I could

United Healthcare scans seniors…
United Healthcare telephones seniors and tries to strong-arm them into providing personal details to a strangers saying they represent UHC. I’ve called UHC are reported the fraud. But to no avail.
Beware seniors. Please call police and report them

A good company !
I been with United for about 8 months now & I have to say I been treated very well especially through virtual live assistance on the UHC app. I also like how UHC partners with Walgreens, Fitbit & Labcorp which makes life easier.
I do recommend them & I was a former customer of Aetna.
