I have enjoyed the magazine for the last few years. This year I tried to renew and the page would not let you select a single payment for 12 months. The only options you can select are the ones that set up a direct debit.
Not interested in that, so another customer lost
Response from National Geographic MagazineApr 28, 2021
Hi Fiona, sorry to hear you have had trouble renewing your subscription. We do have a non direct debit option available of 12 issues for £30 if you are still looking for an annual subscription. More information on our current offers can be seen here www.nationalgeographic.co.uk/subscribe Thank you, NGUK

Almost 6 months on...still not received
Still waiting on my October or November issue, its now nearing the end of March and I've been in touch with customer service via Facebook and supposedly have had 2 replacement issues sent out, which i still haven't received on top of the original that i never got either. Definitely not going to resubscribe. Some of the worst service I've ever had and I thought going with such a well known company would be better.... How hard is it to send a magazine???

I was given a subscription voucher to…
I was given a subscription voucher to National Geographic as a present which I have been unable to access despite phone calls and emails to the company. They have now said the the problem lies with M&S who supplied the voucher. As i was given the voucher as a present I really don't want to go back to the gift purchaser. Really poor customer service from National Geographic, not what I would expect from this large international company. Avoid.
Response from National Geographic MagazineApr 28, 2021
Hi Louise, we were notified of an error with the M&S voucher codes, however, this has now been rectified. If you still have the voucher you will now be able to redeem it, we apologise for any inconvenience caused. Please contact our Customer Escalation team for more support on this [email protected] . This is really awful
This is really awful. They keep spamming me with their unwanted e-mails and these emails do not give me an option to unsubscribe. This is actually illegal abusive practice. Such nasty business. I will never want to open their magazine now. Hope it goes bust and they stop sending their junk emails constantly. Never give this company your e-mail address.
Response from National Geographic MagazineMay 11, 2021
Hi Max, sorry to hear that you have been receiving unwanted emails from us. The unsubscribe option should be in the footer of the email, however, if you contact [email protected] we can look into this for you and update your contact details on the system so you no longer receive emails from us. Thank you and apologies for any inconvenience caused, NGUK

Fire customer support people
Just had the most ridiculous conversation with not 1 but 2 (supervisor) customer service people.....
First from Philippines who COULD NOT UNDERTAND AND ANSWER BASIC QUESTIONS RE: no issues received for 3 months. Both she and supervisor (American who spoke English) could not listen or understand the problem. Each gave different info re: problem, then adding 3 more problems.
Glad to find N G complaint site....seems I experienced same problems with customer service.
Simple questions, rude etc etc etc.......
....will not renew current sub...

What has happened to the "National Geographic Magazine?"
Fifty-seven years ago, an older gentleman that I worked with suggested I become a member of National Geographic. My hobby was then and still is amateur radio and I conversed, using Morse code, to fellow radio enthusiasts all over the world. He said this magazine would open up the world to me and he would be willing to sponsor me to become a member.
Well, that was one of the best decisions I ever made. I read the magazine from cover to cover and even loved looking at the great advertisements, such as Cadillac automobiles. Over many years, I also have recommended the NG to friends and family and gave subscriptions as Christmas presents.
Then, several years ago, NG changed the paper and finish to a different type and queried members how they liked it. I was not impressed at all with the quality and appearance and gave my opinion to NG. The NG made the revision permanent to my disappointment but I could live with it.
In the last few years, the magazine has changed drastically in many aspects. The magazine has transformed from geography and culture to opinionated social issues, anti-police position, anti-capitalism, and liberal political agenda. Also, political editorials are the last thing I want to read expressing the editor’s ideology. The NG should be politically neutral and stick to geography, space, and other related topics.
The colorful graphics and charts look impressive at a glance but are difficult to gather clear data. The change to small font and font type to cut printing cost has made it difficult for this subscriber and other fellow members to read.
Customer service is horrible! My experience has been that people that filled those positions are rude, difficult to understand, and can’t answer simple questions. The NG website is also sub-standard and needs to be updated and improved.
When my membership ends in 2021, I will not be renewing it. I no longer recommend this publication.
The NG Board of Directors needs to address all of these issues if they don't want to lose their valued subscribers.

To whom it may concern
To whom it may concern, I received your letter inviting me to renew my yearly subscription to your magazine. Sadly I won't as I only received 3 out of the 12 colourful magazines. And quite frankly the quality and standards of the magazine has dropped dramatically from what I remember. Thanks
