The ease of using the device. I fell and broke my hip. Had help in a very short period of time.

The ease of using the device.

I honestly don’t think my pennant gets it right. For instance, I laid it gently on my bed yesterday and it reported that I had fallen. I don’t understand why it lights up frequently. Especially at night. I have no idea what that means and don’t enjoy being woken up so frequently.

Because Medical Guardian did not set up or prompt to set up an emergency plan, we now have an unnecessary ambulance response bill for $325! They called the police department who called the paramedics. The fire department would have come out for free! This company doesn’t know or care what it is doing . All they want is your $$. They do not have the resources to know what local numbers to call for help. They rely on you to provide the numbers in the city or town where you are located to access emergency help. You do all the work because they have NO PLAN! I am going to find another company that maybe is on the ball.

This device is reliable and has given me great comfort to know that I have a way of getting a hold of somebody to help me if if need it.

Where I live there is not sufficient cell service for me to be able to use a cell based medical alert system. However I have a 3 acre property and Medical Guardian’s land-line based service is the only medical alert system that can be used anywhere close to their advertised 1500 feet from the landline base. Yes — it works as advertised and has given me the freedom to walk and work on my entire property without fear of having a fall and not being able to call for help. I feel safe everywhere on my entire 3 acre property with my wonderful Medical Guardian ! Thank you for giving me back my freedom !!!

I picked up this service for my 80 yo mother who lives alone, as she wanted something like this to feel more secure, in case something happens. The device was fine, the setup was easy. I have no complains about that part. Disclaimer - my mom actually never had to use the device for real emergency (thanks god). But when we did tests, it worked. I paid for the service for about 2 years. But then my mom confessed to me, that she wasn't actually wearing device for a long time anymore. She didn't want to waste the money, so she asked me to cancel. That's where the problems started. There is no way to cancel the service online, you have to call for that. I called on January 31st of 2026, they told they were canceling the service, I received the email stating "We have received your request to cancel your services with us. We understand that each individual's situation is unique, and your safety is our top priority.". Cancelled, right? but, wait for it. First in the same email down there was another sell pitch: they offered to keep the membership for the price which was 60% lower. After the price was mentioned, there was this: "If you feel this aligns with your needs and decide to stay with us under this new monthly pricing, simply reply with "Keep my account active with my new monthly price." I didn't reply, didn't click on anything, as I didn't need lower price, I needed to cancel. On February 27th I received their regular email "This is your invoice XXX from Medical Guardian", and my credit card was charged again - for the full amount I was paying before, not even with discounted price. I called them again, and the guy on the phone kind of yelled at me, told me that I was supposed to receive an email with some paper I was supposed to sign and return to them that I do want to cancel (?) I told him that I received the confirmation that my cancellation request was received. But I have received nothing else. He told me in an irritated manner that I should receive it this time. I asked him to stay with me on the phone till I receive the email - normal practice with other companies customer service. He stated he had no time for that, that he told me I should receive it, I should check my spam folder, and hang up on me. I waited for couple hours, checked my spam folder couple times - nothing. So I just contacted Chase (the bank of the credit card I was using), and asked them to dispute the transaction. Which they did immediately. And this tells you something too. I had to do dispute only twice in my life before, and I was asked to provide receipts, describe the situation etc. Here I just provided the date I received the cancellation confirmation and the phone number I called. This probably means that I am not the only one, and Chase already dealt with the company before. So judge to yourself, if you want to deal with the, or not. To add to that, I got a call from them about a week after the guy yelled at me on the phone. I thought it was about cancellation and me disputing the charge, so I called them back. Wrong guess: they just wanted to sell me some extra service for extra charge, like I never cancelled.... Update of 03/27/2026: I just changed my 2-star review to 1-star. Since my review I received couple more calls from Medical Guardian - I assume trying to sell me something. I called them back, talked to a reasonable sounding woman who told me again that I needed to sign some paperwork that I wanted to cancel there services (even though I already requested it and received the confirmation about it on January 31st of 2026). She told me it's their procedure as the equipment needed to be returned. I told her the equipment didn't need to be returned in my situation. She agreed - "yes, I see, you purchased it, so you don't need to return it, but it's our procedure". I said O'k, email it to me right now. And she claimed she did it. We both waited for about 5 minutes - nothing came through - not even to a spam folder. Then she said she would send the papers to me by mail. It's was about 2 weeks ago. Nothing like that came in the mail. But instead my 80 yo mom (even though I was the one paying her bills and buying her device) received a paper by mail dated of March 17th of 2026, that she has an unpaid balance. And guess what - I received an email today with the bill (this one miraculously came through). And another one of my credit cards got charged: I must have switched credit cards at some point. And Medical Guardian made sure they kept all the info on file - must be for the situation like this. I have to dispute this new charge now - two months after I cancelled the service. This place is a total scam.
