Easy to use for therapists and clients. Billing and insurance verification done for you. Fast and reliable payment twice a month.

I've had only good experiences with Headway. I wouldn't be able to have my independent practice without them. I tried filing claims on my own and BCBS jerked me around every chance they got. Headway has been so smooth. They credentialed me with other insurance companies and deliver my money reliably.

I've worked with Headway for a little over 2 years. If not for them I don't believe I would have managed to achieve a thriving or perhaps ANY psychotherapy practice in New York. While I gave them 5 stars it hasn't been all perfection but I believe nothing is. I am concerned about the poor reviews they've received from clients and a smattering of providers. In their defense they are a start-up. I've worked with start-ups before and there is a long and wide learning curve when you are being financed by venture capitalists who have nothing to do with mental or medical health care but primarily concerned with the bottom line. Most of the newer mental health companies seem to have come into existence because someone saw a need and a way to monetize it. Hey, it's America no matter how noble they say their motives were to start eventually it comes down to the bottom line. No doubt there is a need for this product most especially for new or deciding to go out on their own, providers. The client's poor reviews concern me because from the get go I knew the need and wanted it to succeed. A lot of the complaints can easily be due to growth pains, miscalculations, poor hiring practices to save a buck, human error, one offs in a sea of disasters but I've been around long enough to know many of the very same complaints as well as many more are made about insurance companies directly which is partly why many of us were thrilled with not having to face them in order to go into private practice and continue to service the middle class. There were some misstatements such as getting less money from Headway than you would if you were directly receiving it from the insurance company. I'm afraid that was true when they started up but I believe in 2021/22 that all changed for the better. It took a long time before I began to get regular referrals for clients from Headway. I primarily depended on Psychology Today to market myself. In fact I believe I was the person who recommended to Headway to recommend to their providers to start using PT if they wanted more steady referrals. But now I do get a steady flow from Headway as well. Perhaps most start-ups don't know what it takes to provide good customer service until they are really up and running. I remember meeting with a pharmaceutical rep where they bring in lunch for the staff and push their latest pill. I was absolutely blindsided by their ignorance of how our industry (in patient mental health hospital) worked. She really didn't even know anything about the pill she was pushing. Just wanted to hand us pamphlets saying "it's all there." I began to suspect what caused the opioid crisis. Certainly her ignorance is what I considered poor customer service. I too have over and over again asked Headway to spend some money on a call center. Generally when i need assistance there is nothing on their drop down menu which gets anywhere near my issue and wastes my time forcing me to go through all of them until I get to the page where I can fill it out with my own words. And time is what most of us can little afford. If Headway needs to go through another round of funding I sure hope they break off a chunk big enough to tackle meaningful customer service. And then they will probably try to sell it. Then we'll have to start all over again after the super bottom line owners slash and burn everything in sight. BTW I find human's have begun to sound like chat bots we're all living dangerously. Keep up the good work everybody and let go of the bad.

I started using Headway for a simple way to be paneled with multiple insurances, but it’s evolved into a much more useful platform than I anticipated. It’s easy to schedule clients and send messages, and I love the newer add-on that allow me to input my notes and treatment plans within each client file. They’ve provided education about insurance compliance and have been upping their game on helping providers feel secure in running their practices. The only issue that I’ve ever run into while using Headway for my very small practice can be solved by encouraging the client to find out their copays directly from their insurance before starting counseling, rather than going on what Headway estimates. Overall, it’s an easy 5 stars for me and I would recommend it to any therapist that wants to accept insurance without having to get individually paneled.

Headway made it easy for our small private practice to accept insurance. They deal with the insurance while we focus on what we do best, caring for our clients.

The process for credentialing was smooth and quick. Customer service has helped quickly and efficiently. They make it much easier working with insurance companies. I recommend working with headway. My only complaint is I wish the rates were higher for Cigna and BCBS.

I love how Headway provided me the opportunity to start my own practice and still be able to take insurance. The signing up process went smoothly. Staff is kind and friendly. They did not provide many referrals, but I used another website for most of my referrals. Also, I wish the reimbursement rates for a couple insurances were higher. However, I am not sure if they even could be much higher. I appreciate there not being a monthly charge for the services.
