I placed an order for some Belgian Chocolate Hot Cocoa Bombs based on the fact that their site estimated that I'd receive it well before Christmas. Other online sites that had a similar item had delivery dates after Christmas. So, I paid a total premium since the hot chocolate on Hammacher's site was super expensive. Well it's been 10 days, tomorrow is Christmas, I still haven't received the item. The tracking number that they didn't provide until 12/20 still shows item hasn't been picked up by UPS - aka hasn't really shipped yet. When I contacted customer service, they weren't sure why the tracking number doesn't actually appear on UPS's site or why it hasn't arrived yet. They've reached out to management and I should receive a response in the next 48hrs. Little consolation since at this point or whenever it arrives, it's much too late for the intended purpose. Incredibly lame, Hammacher!

Terrible customer service. I ordered a week ago, UPS still has not picked up the package - I asked to cancel the order, I was refused, they said the option is not on their computer. I asked for a manger, she mumbled something but would not/could not do it. Delivery was promised in 3 days, turns out it will be 2+ weeks IF UPS ever gets it...the customer service is useless, can hardly speak English and just gives the runaround - STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE if you can! I will never even bother with looking a their web site again

One of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. I ordered a Christmas Tree in mid november 2024 and they shipped the wrong item. I contacted them and they sent me another wrong item. I contacted them again and they sent yet another wrong item. I gave them one last chance and they sent another wrong item despite confirming my address and the right item multiple times. In the end I requested a refund and they said they would contact me back in 24-48 hours. They never did, so I filed a Paypal dispute. In the end they never responded to Paypal and it was credited back to me by Paypal. Hammacher wasted hours of my time trying to resolve this and I will never do business with them again.

I have been trying to get a refund on my order for 6 weeks. I ordered two wreath bags for storage and received a male flight jacket instead When I called they were much more interested in getting the flight jacket back than they were about my wreath covers… multiple calls and emails later I cancelled my order and received a refund for everything except the $13.95 for return fee! What?????? I returned the item they sent me in error and NEVER received my original wreath covers and they want to charge me a return fee? What a scam!. The entire experience has been maddening and time consuming. This company needs to shut their doors - I am kicking myself for not reading the reviews ahead of ordering I had heard of this company before and knew they had been around a long time so felt good about moving forward with my order. Never again!

Sent half of what I ordered. The service representative said she would send the missing item. After 4 days, I called for a status. I waited for 21 minutes before a recorded message advised they were so busy I would have to call back. I went through this 3 times, waiting over 20 minutes each time. I finally called on Saturday and spoke to Ricardo, who was very dismissive, arrogant and sarcastic and was unable to remedy the failure. Obviously Ricardo has never been trained and has no pride in his work. Now I wait for another call back...

They cancelled my order without telling me several days before christmas. I had to call to find out. They said I should have gotten a refund as well which I have not gotten yet. The rep on the phone said, "I just work here." Unbelievable.

I wish I had read the reviews here before making a purchase from Hammacher Schlemmer. This company operates with outdated policies that punish customers at every turn. I ordered the Adjustable Height Fold-Away Ottoman (Item #97497), expecting a functional piece of furniture based on the images and description on their website. What I received was a low, uncomfortable ottoman that doesn’t come close to the height of a standard sofa or chair. Misleading product visuals aside, the real nightmare began when I tried to return it. Their return process is archaic and unsafe. I was required to print out a return form and handwrite my credit card information — yes, handwrite my credit card information — on a piece of paper to mail back with the item. In 2024, this is not only wildly inconvenient but also a serious security risk. Every reputable retailer today allows for direct refunds to the original payment method, but not Hammacher Schlemmer. To make matters worse, they charge a $13.95 “processing fee” for returns. This is on top of the fact that you pay for shipping both ways. So, I’m paying shipping to receive it, paying to ship it back, and then paying an arbitrary fee for the privilege of returning a product that didn’t match its online representation. Most companies abandoned this type of fee decades ago when online shopping became the norm. The whole experience feels like a scam — hidden fees, unsafe processes, and absolutely no regard for customer experience. I will never purchase from Hammacher Schlemmer again, and I’ll warn anyone I can to avoid them. There are far too many other retailers who prioritize customer service and fair return policies. This company is stuck in the past, and clearly doesn’t care about retaining happy customers. It sad because at one time they were a great company. Save yourself the headache — shop literally anywhere else.

I recently bought two holiday boxwood trees, both came with broken bases. I have spent hours on the phone trying to get through to customer service. They then tried to charge me for shipping to return the items that I received broken. I am still waiting on a refund, hopefully I will receive one, now I cannot get through to customer service to see if the refund is going through anytime soon. I also tried to post a review of the product on their website, but they wouldn’t post it. That is how they keep their reviews positive, while websites like this allow for the true ratings to show. The company has gone so far downhill in the past year.
