When the collar is fully functional and…
When the collar is fully functional and working properly, it is wonderful. Unfortunately, I’ve now had issues with two separate collars. For the first collar, I wasn’t even aware of the problem until the Halo team sent me an email stating they had noticed an issue and were sending me a replacement. It was purchased on June 27, 2025, and needed to be replaced by September 26, 2025. I thought it was no big deal because they recognized the issue and handled it quickly with little assistance or requirements from me as the customer. Once I received the replacement, I unlinked the old one, set up the new collar, and my dog was back off to the races. I’m an active-duty soldier and travel a lot for my work, with my family assisting me in providing care for my dog. That being said, I returned from a military course last week (during which I wasn’t authorized to use my phone) and was informed that my dog had escaped and was almost struck by a vehicle. Initially, I was frustrated with my family, suspecting they had let the battery die because the app showed the collar hadn’t been charged. However, once I got home, I realized that the collar itself was the problem. I attempted to use a different cord, charging block, and power bank, but had no success getting the collar to charge. I reached out to the Halo team and started a warranty claim. They walked me through all the same steps but did ask that I attempt to clean the magnetic terminal, which I did. Now, to the frustrating part that I want everyone to be aware of: instead of shipping me a replacement collar to ensure the safety of my dog, who is like family to me, they stated they had to send me a new charging kit first in an attempt to troubleshoot the issue. This means my dog will be without the safety of her collar for an even longer period, adding extensive costs to ensure her safety and care while I travel. When I kindly asked if they could send both the replacement collar and the charging kit, assuring them I would return whichever one wasn’t needed, they stated they couldn’t do that. I also inquired if they would assist with reimbursement for boarding her to ensure her safety while I travel. Moreover, having experienced two issues with both collars I’ve received within a year, especially considering these collars cost over $500, and then dealing with customer service that doesn’t assist when you need it most is unacceptable. This is a no for me as a customer. Once I’m out of warranty and have another issue (which I now fully expect will happen) with their collar, I will be switching to a different brand. Be warned.
