Halo collar has changed our world!!!! We have 10 acres but live on a main road. Dudley, our 3 yr old yellow lab, has a very curious nose and has been found across the highway and walking the edge too many times. He had a training collar with remote features that worked great if you were watching, but did nothing once out of range. Halo 5 corrected Dudley immediatly! He is a new dog and our sanity is back. Super easy to use, love the app and quick responses when asking questions. Wish we would have found it sooner!! Thank you!!

Just passed the one year mark with a Halo. Bottom line is that it's unreliable and buggy. It's so hit or miss, I just can't recommend it. They had a great idea but I guess it's not possible to really execute it well. We live in an urban area, so I'm sure that's part of the problem. We want to keep our dog away from the driveway on the south and the fence on the north. He either doesn't get a warning at the right time or just blazes through it. He sometimes gets a correction when in the red zone, but sometimes not. He often gets warnings and corrections when well within the safe zone, and this is the worst thing of all to me. He was literally lying in his dog bed, smack dab in the middle of our safe zone, and I heard it beep him and shock him. Poor thing. How do you train a dog when the reinforcement is so random and mismatched to the behavior? We gave it a fair shake but unfortunately it really just doesn't work for us. Since we own it, we'll continue to use it while traveling to places where there is more land and fewer buildings. We've had better luck in those areas.

I was a skeptic at first! I was looking into actual structural fencing to keep all 4 of my dogs in! I then came across this option! It was half the cost and I can take it anywhere! Even if I move. But more so I have that one dog that is the escape artist and likes to run!! Have NEVER been able to let it off the leash and if she happens to get out the door well you can count your blessings because she won’t be back till morning! ( hound nose ) lol ! Well we got the collars and with in 2 days this dog doesn’t use a leash and loves life! She nose where she can and can’t go and it has literally changed our whole lives! Anyone that has a runner dog would understand that stress! THANK YOU HALO!

I would give a zero at this point. My dog was hit due to lagging of the halo 3. Halo said they would pay for my vet bills...this was weeks ago haven't seen a dime...I highly recommend dog guard the price is not much more than the halo and THEY come to your house to train your dog. Still waiting on my vet bills check......

I have had a terrible experience with Halo after 3 years of using their collar. There was a malfunction with a a horrendous alarm sound coming from the collar while on my dog. He was and still is traumatized. They said it was a problem with the software. They wanted me to send the collar back for examination, which I did, and they gave me a partial refund. Now I would like to try again about 4 months later and they say that they cannot do anything for me other than sending me to purchase a new collar online, as if I had never had this experience. I am very unhappy with their customer support and will go to a different company now.

I have a halo 5. Although it is very expensive, it is a great product. Very reliable. My issue is with customer service. Some screws came out and I ordered replacements. Within 12 hours I found I could buy them at a local hardware store. I had placed my order on Saturday night and wanted to cancel Sunday morning. Not only could I not cancel online, I had to video chat with a person, which was irritating because it took way too much of my time for something really insignificant, but I was informed that on a Sunday morning, less than 12 hours after my order it was already in processing and I would have to accept it and send it back. Baloney. There is no way someone is working on that on a Sunday morning. It’s a real pain that I have to physically spend time to do something that someone could fix with the click of a mouse. Get your act together.

We bought two Halo 5 collars in the spring and have had several problems with inconsistent corrections with one collar in particular. We understand that the software update firmware (version 3.7) caused some issues with boundaries and did see improvement when the firmware was updated. The inconsistent warnings and recalls caused our dog to become nervous and anxious while out in our yard and in the house. He has been beeped while laying on the floor in our living room or bathroom, well within the boundaries and 20-30 feet within the boundary outside. The collar beeps and he runs up to us thinking he did something wrong. Our second dog/collar works almost seamlessly after the update. They were just both laying next to me sleeping and one collar beeped while the other collar performed correctly. I thought the software would correct itself with more wear from our dog and with time but after 3 months, I have lost confidence in the product and my dog has lost confidence in his training. We now take the collar off when he is inside but are putting it on and off constantly throughout the day so he can have the freedom to go in and outside, as the product boasts.

I believe I have the Halo 4. Many nice features that are as advertised. However, the main feature - and reason we bought it - GPS boundaries is absolutely worthless. Halo customer service response is to keep moving the borders further away from where they really need to be. Really?? Our dog is so confused after repeated “feedback” while in the middle of our safe zone that she won’t go anywhere now. If you have a 100 acre square field it probably works great. If you have a residential yard like we do be prepared to be utterly disappointed. And for a dog that doesn’t know whether to come or go.
