ADHD all my life, never have I been treated so poorly by a clinician
Oh boy, my experience with Done was and is not great. At first it seemed ideal, having the ability to treat my ADHD without the need for in person visits. Yes the price was a little high, but it was nice. I started out on a low dose of Adderall IR which was tremendously helpful, however because it is an instant release, my dose was not lasting through my day and I was experiencing some rebound-effects because of it. I reached out over messages to my provider since there is a spot that specifically says "medication adjustment". The responses from my clinician were confusing, asking me to set up an appointment to talk about it. This was fine, no big deal. I attempted for 4 MONTHS to schedule an appointment with my clinician and had to reach out to customer service because there was no availability and I had already waited 4 months. Customer service helped to schedule an appointment. However, my clinician chose not to show up to my appointment. Great. Not thrilled. I went ahead and reached back out to customer service who thought that I had skipped my appointment. After realizing it was the other way around, I was rescheduled for a week later. In the meantime, it was time for a refill which I submitted. It also presented the option to message my clinician about a "medication adjustment". I went ahead and messaged her again as a reminder that I did want to talk about adjusting my treatment. My clinician's response was that she "would not be increasing medication." This was confusing because we hadn't yet had a full conversation about medication options/adjustment so I was not sure what this decision was based on. I replied asking if this was due to Adderall shortages. She then replied that if I am experiencing issues due to Adderall shortages, to reach out to my pharmacy. In my frustration, I went ahead and just ignored our conversation and waited for our appointment, where we would have the time to speak in depth about treatment. On the day of my appointment, my clinician joined the appointment late but still within the cutoff window that Done provides their clinician's. Which was frustrating but fine. When she arrived on the call it was very noisy, at one point I believe she had to speak with someone who was probably her family member. I mentioned to my clinician my concerns about medication not lasting through my day. We talked about Adderall XR. I then posed the question about the pros and cons of XR x1 daily vs IR x2 daily. This was when things got very unprofessional. Instead of having a patient to clinician conversation about the pros and cons, I was lectured about the DEA and their role in watching what my clinician does. I was lectured about her licensing. I was made to feel that in asking about adjusting my medication, I had done something wrong. I was then told that she would not be adjusting my medication. I then let her know that while it is her choice of what to prescribe and how to prescribe it, the role of the DEA and the potential of losing her licensing are of absolutely no concern to the patient and this was highly unprofessional and inappropriate. In all of my years of living with ADHD, finding coping skills to help, dealing with diagnosis, and jumping through endless hoops, I have never been treated so poorly nor have I ever dealt with someone so unprofessional and uninformed about what they are prescribing and even the disorder she was prescribing it for. After our appointment was over, I also noticed that the refill date for my medication had reset, meaning that I would have to wait an entire month to refill, when in reality I only had 8 days left. I have already spoken with the patient care team who ensured that my refill date would be fixed. I was asked if I would like to stay with my clinician. I stated that I would like to be paired with a different clinician. I was told that scheduling would reach out to me within a week to schedule with a different clinician. This has yet to happen. When it came time to refill, I again clicked my medication adjustment button, because I had waited 4 months for an adjustment and it had not been completed yet, I did not realize that I hadn't been paired with the new clinician yet. The clinician I have had numerous issues with replied and stated again that she would not me adjusting my meds at this time. I did get a refill in the meantime. I have yet to have an informed conversation about medication with any clinician since my initial prescription. I have yet to be reached out to for scheduling with a new clinician. For a company whose message is about making things easier for those with ADHD, this has been the most difficult health/medical related process I have ever experienced. I'm not frustrated that I wasn't changed to twice daily, I only wanted to have a conversation ab treatment options and that never happened.
