Refusal to cancel membership
I called the corporate office to cancel my membership given the fact that I was moving out of state. They continued to deduct money from my bank account after I cancelled to the point that I had to call my bank and block them. They then turned me over to a collection agency. They advised that I need to cancel my membership in writing, via a signed letter before I could cancel. When I asked to use DocuSign they advised that they do not do business that way. I’ve never heard of such an archaic process simply to cancel a gym membership. Last I checked DocuSign is a legal and widely accepted way to sign documents. If I can settle on a house and retain a lawyer using DocuSign then surely I can cancel a gym membership that way. Upon calling again and speaking to the manager, who identified herself as Mabel Alverez, she continued to insist on a signed certified letter for cancellation. Whatever you do don’t use this gym. You will be locked in for life.
