Chewy.comReviews of chewy.com

After many years of trying to find local pet food stores that catered to those of us who want the best quality food for our pets, I started looking online. Went through several until Chewy.com. I have had up to 6 rescue chihuahuas at one time, all with specific dietary needs based on age and health as a result of their previous owners lack of care. Chewy caters to those of us who have those concerns and provides everything, including prescriptive diets that were only found at the veterinarian. In addition, they have the kind of toys and treats for my petite chihuahuas, something that was difficult to find. Prices are by far more reasonable than our local pet specialty store in Cheshire, where I was charged $25.00 for a 4 lb. bag of Halo that I now pay $11.99 at Chewy with free delivery in two days. They also sent me a thank you card after my second order. So thoughtful. As an amusing aside, "Saturday Night Live" did a skit about those of us who are particular about the quality of the food we feed our pets. Very amusing and somewhat too the extreme with some truth to it. Thanks Chewy.com for all you do. You are the BEST!!!

I had high hopes for Chewy.com as a solution to my cat food issue - my cats prefer a product that I have to drive an hour to get - however, my hopes were dashed irreparably by shoddy service. I ordered 5 - 8-can packs of Tiki Cat and a 20 lb. bag of cat litter on March 21st and looked forward to receiving a box on March 28th. On March 28th when no box appeared I checked the tracking and discovered that the box and/or contents had been damaged in shipping and were being returned to the vendor. The new estimated delivery date was April 4th. I was disappointed but perfectly happy to chalk it up to a fluke. On April 4th when no box appeared I checked the tracking and discovered that the box had been delivered to Harrisburg, PA! This did not help me one bit. Monday morning, April 7th I called Chewy.com and inquired about my order. I was informed that UPS had not contacted Chewy.com, however to make amends a new package would be sent right out, and half of my purchase price would be refunded. Now the estimated delivery date was set for April 14th. Hurrah! The box arrived as promised, HOWEVER, all was not well. There was cat litter everywhere! The box was not well packed - it was much larger than the contents necessitated and there was inadequate packing material, both in terms of quantity and quality. The contents had shifted so much in transit that 23 of the 48 cans of cat food were dented - that's 48% of the product, and the cat litter bag split open and only 10lbs 15oz of the 20lb originally shipped was still in the bag - that's 55% of the product. The remaining cat litter was in the shipping box, falling out of the box onto my porch, and even inside the plastic wrapped packages of cat food. Talk about inconvenient! I had to open each package of cat food while outside and remove the individual cans to avoid bringing quantities of cat litter into my home. I had to scoop cat litter out of the box by the dust pan full - I stopped counting after 5. I had to sweep my porch. And then I had to immediately cancel my autoship order so as to avoid repeating this whole process.

Shipping policy on their website states that most customers receive their order within 1-2 days after placing their order. This is very misleading and should read that orders may be received within 1-7 days. Or have a map with delivery estimates based on location. I live in CA and I placed my first ever order on 4/8 based on the premise that I would most likely receive it within 1-2 days as their website says. Instead I have to wait 7 days (tracking says it should come tomorrow, 4/15); in the meantime I've had to go buy dog food at the store since I've run out while waiting for my order to arrive. Really defeats the "convenience" of ordering online.

I'm ordering a lot of things online these days and Chewy.com not only has a great selection of pet foods and accessories with good prices and fast delivery but it's got the best customer service I've seen in a long time. I won't hesitate to stop buying from a place based on the customer service alone because there are so many other choices with online shopping these days and I really need to feel that I can trust a company and that it cares about good service. This is especially true when it comes to my pets. Chewy.com has all the benefits of a big store but with that extra touch that you used to find in the "mom and pop shops." They really do want their customers to be happy and they're constantly improving. Don't hesitate to try them.

I don't usually give store recommendations online but I have to highly recommend chewy.com for all your pet needs. We've been shopping through them since moving to NYC (and realizing that transporting 30 lbs of kitty litter 30 blocks is no fun in the city) and their prices are great. I just had to call customer service about an order and not only did I get a human being in only a few rings, she was incredibly helpful and polite.

"I had reservations when I first ordered from Chewy because I never heard of them before. Seeing that they had so many good reviews I decided to make a small order with them first, just to be on the safe side. I got my product (Dr. Elsie Cat Attract litter) in only 2 days for a great price. Placed a bigger order with them and 2 days later, it's on the UPS truck and out for delivery. I have never had to deal with customer service, so I can't give my opinion on that... but just the fact that I never had a reason to call customer service is great in my opinion. Bottom line is that the prices are great and the shipping/processing is super fast! Would definitely recommend this company!"

My dog is allergic to almost everything(grains, soy, corn), and for the past 5 years I've been spending money on high quality food at local pet stores. I don't drive, so I usually bought a 30lb bag and took it on the subway, a train and a bus and a few blocks of walking. The price for the food was $62. I found Chewy when looking for snow boots. I bought them and the boots were great! A month later, I received a postcard in the mail saying "Hope your dog enjoyed those little red boots!" how amazing? That they remembered! Out of curiosity I looked up the dog food I buy and it was available for $47! About $20 cheaper and with free shipping. If I signed up for auto delivery I would get 15% off! What a deal. And having it delivered to my home meant no hassles with transportation. I started buying food and I was happy. Now that spring is here, I decided to buy my dog a rain coat. Plastic shopping bags were not cutting it. When I got it, the coat was one size too small. Darn it! I hate doing online returns. Shipping a product back for $5 and waiting a week for them to receive them and then another week for them to send out your item... gross. I called them, not looking forward to the conversation. The guy told me they would refund my money and asked that I donate the rain coat to a local shelter. How amazing is that? No good deed goes unnoticed. I am recommending them to everyone I know! I wish they wouldn't sell shock collars though. Other than that, this company is best for pets.

My 19yo cat recently needed to be switched to a special diet, so I decided to order her food from chewy.com because of their great return policy (and due to it being unavailable in my area). Unfortunately it ended up not agreeing with my cat's stomach so I needed to return it. Because it is a more unusual food it was only available in a 24 pack case, which I was dreading having to box up and ship back. When I called customer service to facilitate the return I was pleasantly surprised that they not only refunded me, but said I didn't have to return the food, but to donate it to a shelter! That to me is great customer service and a great company; they have secured me as a customer for life!
