Won’t let you use first time customer discounts if the person who lived in your house before you has ordered from chewy before. Awful policy. Even with multiple appeals they’re like nope can’t do it. I’ve never made an account before. This is how they treat their customers.

Chewy system “Glitch” delays orders
Switched to Chewy to ensure I had a steady stream of pills for my dying dog. What a MISTAKE, due to Chewy having glitches in their system my dog will die in pain. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! Now I’m packing up my sick dog and heading back to Vet for pills.

Waiting 6 days to get medication for my…
Waiting 6 days to get medication for my dogs uti is unacceptable. Chewy is located less than 2 hours drive from me so it's definitely not delivery time. Vet is available 24/7 for verification. Order placed on Thursday morning and not even approved until Monday. I DO NOT recommend Chewy.com for medications.

Too much work and no longer reliable
I have been a customer of Chewy since the pandemic when it was reliable. Although the customer service people who answer the phone when you have a problem are all very nice and the supervisors try their best, ordering online on the website has gotten to the point where every order especially if you do autoship has to be verbally corrected with multiple calls. Last time they shipped the same package 2x. This time despite putting in a date for the autoship to ship that wouldn't conflict from when we were out of town, it shipped early and I had to make multiple calls to stop or redirect the shipment none of which actually worked. As of this morning when I thought everything was fixed I got yet another notification of the same order about to ship again. Countless calls to supervisors who manually make the change with the system overriding the change and starting the shipment again. And customer service offering too many excuses to mention trying to explain the latest problem we are having. Complete insanity. I have given up and have cancelled all my future autoships and will likely find a more reliable company to deal with for all my future regular orders.

Crying because of Chewy
I have been a plus member a couple of months. I get all of my pet needs here. Food, treats, toys, meds, collars, leashes everything everything and I am doing the review because they sent me a keychain in the mail with my dogs face on it. It looks hand painted and I love it so much

After 20+ years I terminated my Chewy account, and even had to get a new e-mail address. Despite complaints about being spammed, and opting out, they would do nothing about the "Product Reviews" constantly spamming my in-box. Now approaching 2 months of complaints, my account was terminated with Chewy - I told them I do not want to hear from them again. I received a confirmation e-mail stating my account was terminated and all information was deleted.
Well, not true !!! Now Chewy is spamming me via the USPS with Coupons, etc.... I called Chewy and told them to take me off their mailing list but the Rep stated she needed my e-mail address. I refused to give it to her as I have a new e-mail address and did not want to be spammed.
I offered my name, number, and address, etc... to remove me from their mailing list via the USPS. The Rep said she could not remove me unless I gave her my e-mail address. I told her she did not need my e-mail to remove me from a mailing lists. No other company ever need my e-mail address to remove from a mailing list via the USPS.
I asked to speak with a Supv .... put on hold, and no one ever picked up after that. My other option is to file a complaint with the BBB, local Senator, and the State Licensing Division against Chewy.
Chewy is so eager to sell you stuff and get your money but when you want to be left alone.... and no longer want to do business.... they do not seem to get the message.

Going the extra mile beyond expectations
Chewy has been my go to for autoshipping kitty litter, litter pans, etc. I have always had great service. Recently, my cat died after a long love-filled life. I mentioned that when canceling my related autoship with CHEWY. I got a nice sympathy email in response. Today, I got a sympathy bouquet from CHEWY! That kind of personal touch is amazing. Thank you CHEWY for many years of good service, and going the extra mile in my time of grief.

Disappointed With How My Prescription Food Replacement Was Handled
8-13-2026
I’m extremely disappointed with how Chewy handled a recent problem with my dogs’ prescription food.
I had just received a large order of Hill’s Prescription Diet GI Biome canned food when I discovered concerning popping/clicking from the cans. Because I wasn’t comfortable feeding the food to my dogs, Chewy arranged to replace the order.
I explained that this left me without the canned prescription food my dogs rely on and was told they would try to get the replacement to me sooner. Unfortunately, that doesn’t appear to have happened.
The replacement order was placed August 12, shipped August 13, and is still estimated to arrive August 16. That appears to be standard shipping—not an expedited replacement.
In the meantime, one of my dogs will not eat the dry version of the food, so my husband has had to drive to multiple PetSmart locations trying to find enough cans to get us through until the replacement arrives. He was only able to find a case and a half.
I understand that shipping carriers ultimately control delivery once a package leaves the warehouse. My frustration is that this was a problem with food I had literally just received, Chewy knew I was left scrambling for prescription food, and I was given the impression that an effort would be made to get the replacement here sooner. Based on the shipment timeline, I see no indication that anything was actually expedited.
I’ve relied on Chewy because I expect better service when something goes wrong—especially when prescription food is involved. This experience has
been extremely frustrating.
8/26/26 UPDATE:
I wanted to update this review because I believe it’s important to acknowledge when a company ultimately makes a situation right.
Unfortunately, the replacement food still did not arrive on August 16 as expected. By Monday morning, my husband once again had to drive around looking for enough prescription food to get us through. I had also spoken with another supervisor during this process, but that conversation did not resolve the problem.
I eventually asked to speak with someone above the supervisor level and was connected with Vince. That was where my experience changed.
Vince listened to what had happened, took the situation seriously, and told me he would contact FedEx first thing the following morning to find out what was happening with the shipment. More importantly, he actually followed up with me as promised.
I did not ask Vince for compensation. He initially told me he was going to provide a $100 credit, but he ultimately went considerably further. Between refunding the food we had originally purchased and providing the replacement cases at no charge, the total refund/credit was $322.95.
I still stand by what I wrote in my original review because the initial handling of the replacement left us scrambling to find prescription food for our dogs, and that should not have happened. However, I also believe in giving credit when someone goes above and beyond to correct a bad experience.
Vince did exactly that. He was attentive, he listened, he took responsibility for getting answers, and most importantly, he followed through. I sincerely appreciate the way he handled the situation and wanted to make sure my review reflected that as well.
