1 star as I could not give 0. Dreadful support I think it goes straight through to the cleaner. It takes forever to get a response when using chat. Ask a question and it takes minutes to get a answer back. Cant be cost effective 2 minute phone call takes at least 30 minutes in live chat. Its so painful you give up. Will never buy another WD product.

Abysmal Tech Support for Failed Product
Bought a brand new RAID 1 Mybook Duo. One drive failed in days. Tech support is absolutely abysmal - one hand doesn't know what the other is doing. As Dir of IT for my company I worked with scores of vendors. Western Digital is hands down the worst I've ever dealt with. Caveat emptor.

SHOCKING PRIVACY INVASIONS, other problems, and my Seagate is better
SEE IMPORTANT INFO AT BOTTOM OF REVIEW- PRIVACY INVASION INFO
i had this My Passport drive sitting in my home for most of the 3 year warranty period and just now installed it. Really getting a bad feeling.
For one thing the Notifications window isn't fully visible at the bottom part with an important button, it goes off the bottom of my wide screen and is not visible. I had to guess what was down there and use Tab in order to close that popup. NO exit X on upper right corner or any way to close it. Couldn't use right click menu on it. . How stupid can they get?
Ok then, i notice they keep trying to be overly connected to me via my device. It is far too privacy invading. The cloud, i do not want, and that is why i got a physical storage device.
In starting to use this to store something, i found it wasn't easy. They want you to use an app called My Discovery but give us NO idea what exactly that app does.
I feel it's a privacy invasive company, they want to know too much about you, and their interface so far is not helpful , not in any way explained, and problematic.
BACKUPS- are you kidding me? you can' t just back up your other files once or manually on demand. You can ONLY setup a continuous backup schedule that not only does it regularly backup the selected files but ALSO APPARENTLY OVERWRITES YOUR OLD FILES. no choice in t he matter. AND i have no idea if it will let you stop and cancel your "schedule" so you can make it stop backing things up every time period over and over .
Groan. I just wanted a new storage volume in case my really good, but 15 yrs old, Seagate went on t he blink. I am very worried now and do not trust or like this WD to store my stuff reliably or privately, after reading all these negative experiences here, as well as my own so far. i don't feel confident to store anything important on it yet that is what i need.
I certainly will go with Seagate again when i want to get another storage for backup or any reason. Had good experience and no troubles with this old Seagate i have.

One or two good points, the Passport was cheap, about 69 bucks, i bought from Best Buy though. It's a good idea to get thru these secondary sources instead of the company apparently, because they provide additional guarantees like 30 day replacement of a dud, etc. Some even have additional 2 or more years warranty that you buy. Which i definitely will recommend in this case.
Also i like the supposed encryption feature and you can put a password on it.
------------------------------------------------------
I think that if i want to remove this, i am going to have to be very careful, use an "uninstall device" windows process, as others said they lost data by removing it.

UPDATE- PRIVACY INVASION FEATURES-
it seems this drive and other drives won't work unless you use the internet and their site to do basic things. Huge long list, some of them are:
----Change a WD USB drive settings such as, LED, RAID Settings, Set Password, and Eject a drive requires an Internet connection to install these features.
----Manage your connected WD devices such as, My Passport, My Book, and My Cloud Home drives.
----Make complex things easy, securing a drive with a password or managing drive settings.
HUH? THIS IS SNEAKY, DEVIOUS, UNDERHANDED, AND COMPROMISES OUR OWN PERSONAL SECURITY ON OUR HOME DEVICES THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY NEED OF INTERNET CONNECTION WITH THIS COMPANY JUST TO DO THESE PRIVATE THINGS.
WHY ARE THEY INVOLVING THEMSELVES AND THIER SYSTEM IN OUR PRIVATE USE OF THESE THINGS? SOUNDS LIKE TRACKING AND SURVEILLANCE, RECORDING OF OUR ACTIONS AND INFO, TO ME.
SEE MORE on thier support site. LINK NOT ALLOWED HERE unfortunately.

Awful company
Awful company, awful poorly made products, no customer service. Read through the reviews - you have been warned. Stockists should be ashamed of selling this absolute garbage. This company will be finished in less than 10 years.

Oh boy talk about fraud
Oh boy talk about fraud! This company has just ripped me off badly! I was offered as part of a 'trade in' deal 40% off a replacement product as WD had identified security issues on their old junk! After jumping through hoops to qualify, paying £5 to post the quallifying NAS drive to them, waiting a month for a coupon code that I had to chase them for I find there 'trade in deal' is nothing more than a scam! You get directed to 'their' website and choose your desired replacement drive. only to find that Amazon sell them retail for much the same as the 40% discount WD deal! So hang on, lets get this clear. I waste several hours in total, researching, packaging, sending WD their faulty junk on the promise I get a brilliant deal on a replacement product that now hopefully works and is secure, only to find it isn't a great deal that is sold as some sort of compensation for me for buying WD junk in the first place!?! For a large company to treat their customers like MUGS is disgraceful. They could easily treat it like any other product recall and replace the faulty goods or at the least give the customer a cost only deal....PATHETIC

What an absolute joke
What an absolute joke. They took a drive from me to fix, then shipped it back to me. Because they fix in Europe the courier tried to levy import duty on me on a replacement item (treating it as a new item).
I spoke to Western Digital on multiple occasions to say that I wasn't paying because they chose to locate their repair centre in Europe. They agreed to pay. Now I'm being chased by a debt collection agency for non payment of funds. How can WB be any more incompetent? They're absolutely useless and I can't believe it looks like I'm going to have to pay for them to have replaced a drive on my behalf.
Not on guys!

Sehr schlechter Support…
