I recently (in September 2019) signed up for Verizon's new prepaid phone plan which included 16 GB of high speed data. I live in Provo, Utah, near Salt Lake city, so I assumed I wouldn't have an issue with getting fast data. The data plan is supposed to give you 4G LTE data if the network is not congested. However, after my first day of service, the network must have always been congested because I never once (not a single time) had 4G LTE data. Most of the time my data was 3G (not even 4G), and sometimes it was even 1-2G. It was very very slow. After a month of service I cancelled and switched to Cricket. If you want a good phone provider, that is not only a little cheaper but that almost always also gives you 4G LTE data (I don't think I've ever not had 4G LTE data yet with them), then check out Cricket. It's a really good service.

My phone was damaged during an incident. I was having trouble transferring data from old phone to new phone. For whatever reason the smart switch wasn't detecting the new phone. I tried calling the local store to see if I could go in and get some help. The rep who answered told me that they "had a lot of people right now and wouldn't be able to help, but to call 611 and get tech support to help over the phone." I called tech support and was put on a 20 min + hold. By the time someone came on to the line, my old phone was no longer working. Looks like the pics of my kids are gone now. I remember when the store had actual techs IN STORE and they would personally help with these issues. Verizon in Laredo Tx has gone to trash. The customer service is lousy. Rude associates. Dont care unless you're a new customer. I was going to actually upgrade my data and my wife's phone when I went in, but i dont think there is any point on staying with a company that has extremely poor local service reps. Been with them since 2006 and hold 5 lines, but it may be time to switch to AT&T.

Called the call center first which pushed me towards the chat application on their website. Hour long wait or chat... no brainer. First lady on the chat was competent and appeared to be sorting the situation. She asked for my patience while she did some procedures - of course - I sat there idly looking at the screen for about three minutes when up popped the message "chat session ended due to inactivity" am i supposed to play hold music to them while I am on chat? What amateur organisation set this up? I start again and have to go back to the start with a different chat operator (by now 50 minutes had passed) at which point he did the same "bear with me" so every three minutes i just typed "..." into the screen - after the third time he came back and said "I am still looking at this for you" I explained the dots were so we were not disconnected. He didnt seem to think this would have happened but i knew it would and so I continued to do so. Another one hour fifteen minutes later they say they will fix it going forward but not their error in the previous bill for that I will need to call the number and speak to someone. So I ask for his supervisor - again explaining the situation. Turns out on chat they cannot fix errors with your bill you need to speak to billing. So off I go and call customer services - an expected wait time of 27 minutes. They will call you back if you want and hold your place in the queue. Now this is absolute bull**** because my place in the queue took me 62 minutes to speak to someone. So having given me an estimated time of 27 minutes they call me back an hour or so later but im not available. When I finally speak to someone I ask for their supervisor immediately. She tries to take over the call and again I repeat - I would like to speak to a supervisor, this isn't about your performance, lets not make it about it. She tells me theres a 15 minute wait. I told her I would wait and that I was surprised the supervisors weren't more busy. About 30 seconds later guess what - Im connected to a supervisor. I explain the issue and in under 3 minutes she apologized and fixed the issue and apologized for the inconvenience. How can an organisation this size get it so wrong - empower your front line staff to put mistakes right - join up channels so chat can see what phone has done and vice versa. THIS SHOULDNT BE THIS DIFFICULT. this was a mistake they made and one they recorded. I wasted 3-hours of my time sorting this out - and a 3 minute call with a supervisor sorted it.

I don't have a problem with my service, it's working well! But my problem is their customer service! I had to stop my connection for the summer because I was away. When I called them to reconnect it, they did not confirm my address so they would send their technician to a house I do not live anymore and they couldn't cancel it and put my new order to the correct address. I had to fax them my ID and the cancelation order, not email, fax! Anyway, after I did that I talked to someone after a long waiting time on the phone and we agreed on the monthly price and he said that they wouldn't charge me set up fee which is $100 since I am a reoccurring customer, we set up an appointment with their technician, he came and our connection works fine but they charged me the set up fee. I called them and they said you are right but there is nothing we can do..
