We regularly hire cars for work and personal use and have never experienced such terrible service. We were collected at Split airport in a 4 seater car rather than a shuttle bus. There were four of us meaning one of the kids had to travel in the back without a seatbelt! When we complained we were told to walk, which meant we would arrive at the office after hours and would miss our booking. We had no choice but to risk travelling illegally. We then arrived 10mins late due to the delay and were charged a €50 fee anyway! We checked the car which we were told was in perfect condition however it had numerous minor scratches which they accepted and highlighted on the contract. It was nearly impossible to check in the dark with no lighting and only a phone torch. On returning the vehicle the attendant went straight to the front of the car, ran his hand under the bumper and found a small scratch, I mean on the complete undercarriage of the car. We never checked the underside as have never even thought of it in the past. This mistake cost us €450. Annoyingly the attendant admitted that he should have advised us to check the under carriage when we collected the car, he knew the scratch was there but as it wasn’t highlighted on the contract they charged our credit card. A very unprofessional organisation, the entire experience felt very corrupt especially the way the attendant only checked one part of the car for damage which he knew was there. Highly recommend avoiding this outfit. They have no customer service or central body to contact, your only route of appeal is the local franchise who were the source of the problem. Pay slightly more with a reputable company, it will save you in the long run. UPDATE - frustratingly someone has responded from the company to this post offering us to get in touch if we have any further queries. There is NO way of getting in touch with them. The website is a holding page with an email and phone number that don’t work. Further update - you have my email address as part of all the contracts, I think it in appropriate you ask me to share my personal email address on a public forum. What’s the issue with United sharing your customer service email address? The one on your websites bounces as it’s not real. Please share your customer service email and I’ll share all the details with you of our horrendous experience.
