Sub par Customer service
I have had the T-Mobile 55+ plan for over 5 years. After the first year I was notified that I needed to come into a store and show proof that I qualified for this plan. Okay, things happen and mistakes are made so, I went into a local store and showed them my license and they made a copy. Settled right? No and the following year I once again had to prove that was NOT getting younger and still qualified for the 55+ plan. Needless to say I was rather frustrated but I was assured that this time everything was taken care of and I would not need to do this again. And it seemed be resolved as two years passed without an issue. That is until a few weeks ago when I received a text asking me to ring proof (of age) into a local store in order to keep my discount. At first I thought it must be a mistake so I called customer service but was told I only had one option-I have to go to a store and show my proof. I said no, I am not doing it again. I requested a manager. His resolution? I could FAX or mail it to them. I am still not happy but, fine, okay. Then, several days later I was contacted by a T-Mobile rep in response to a review I left. This young man named Mitchell told me "I am showing your account has been updated. I do not know why you are getting those messages." He assured me (yeah, I know) that everything was fine with my account. Then yesterday I got a "Last chance to keep your current plan" text requesting I visit a store with proof that I am not a female Benjamin Buttons! Once again I called customer service, this time speaking to a lovely young lady named Devone (?). At first thought she must be a recording or a parrot because all she did was repeat the same sentence over and over. "All you have to do is take your license into a store." No matter how many times I said no, I will be inconvenienced again. She would not hear me and just kept repeating herself. And, when I asked for a manager or supervisor she actually refused, stating "They will just tell you the same thing I have." Then she actually said to me "You qualify to add another line if you have a smartwatch or want to add someone. Would you like to do that?" I could only laugh and I said "Do you not see how asinine it is to aske ME that question considering why I have called?" I am a telephone customer representative myself, I am actually on our leadership line which means I handle mostly complaints and troubleshooting and I would never, ever treat a customer like this. There was no assistance, no offer of assistance and definitely no empathy or understanding. So now I get to spend my weekend finding a new cell phone carrier.
