Cheetah is 18, a chihuahua and was always finicky with her food and I hated the grocery store brands because I didn't think they were healthy. Since being with The Farmer’s Dog and trying the various flavors, her choice is the BEEF. She now wolfs down her dinner every night! 😁 No more fussiness.
Note: Cheetah - Chihuahua who turned 18 on August 6th, has been eating The Farmer’s Dog food for a couple of years. My testimony or her testimony is that because of their food she is still going strong! I am so HAPPY I found The Farmer’s Dog!
Baker is 12 and is a mixed breed (Corgi/Alaskan Malamute) and will eat anything and everything! Lol. She loves the beef as well!
Both dogs gobble their food and plates are left clean. 😁

This update just made our whole day, Francesca! Cheetah and Baker are proving that age is nothing but a number, and we're so excited to spend many more mealtimes with them 🧡

The food they show on the commercial is…
The food they show on the commercial is very reminiscent of fast food commercials. You don’t get what the advertise . The food is relatively expensive and its all just grey not bright yellow with contrasting vegetables . We tried for several months and everything looked the same grey or brown matter. Our dog had no interest in the end. I have heard the nutritional values are not great.

Hi Kevin — we're so sorry to hear that your dog wasn't excited about our fresh recipes and for any concern caused relating to the quality of our food. First and foremost, we want to assure you that our recipes are formulated by our on-staff board-certified nutritionists to meet AAFCO complete and balanced requirements.
Additionally, since we don't use any preservatives or additives in our fresh recipes to keep the color consistent, the veggies in our food can sometimes cause a slight color variation to surrounding ingredients and can assure you that the food pictured on our website is the same food we provide for your dog. Either way, your feedback is greatly appreciated so one of our specialists has reached out to provide any support they can.

This is long. I don't do reviews; but in this case i am going to do it so bear with me.
Robin and Ingus are border collie/blue heeler cross. They are 13 years old now, they are littermates, and were born in my house (I watched their birth). For the first year of their lives, I made their food from minimmaly cooked venison and elk we hunted, added organic starches, berries, veggies, and nutritional supplements to round things out. We have a small farm and they are hard working dogs. Sometime around their 11th year there, was a noticeable drop in their vitality. Robin started having joint issues as well as one bout with a cancerous growth, and they were not as vigilant about everything going on with the livestock as they had been. We bought 'quality' kibble, did not over vaccinate, dewormed when fecals called for it, etc. I believed minimally processed or raw meat protein was missing from their diet. Raw can be scary, because it is hard to trust the processing of it, and internal parasites in the meat can't be controlled without some form of heat being applied. I saw a commercial for The Farmers Dog, in May of 2024, and decided to try it. I am not a wealthy person, but I am willing to spend the maximum I can afford on my pets and livestocks' nutrition. At the time of this review, Ingus and Robin act like they did the first decade of their lives. Eyes are clear and alert, coats shine, they are back to playing with each other, and getting excited about every little thing again. I can not afford to feed this dog food exclusively, so I have supplement with BB dry kibble once a day, in the evenings, and a small amount of a raw/min processed frozen kibble I have come to trust, every other day. My pups ARE BACK at 13! Robin can jump on the sofa now... but not the bed, yet :).
Dogs are so resiliant and can tolerate dry kibble for a big part of their lives... but when they reach their golden years... the toll it takes on them becomes evident... they are carnivores, and we need to feed them as close to how they are designed as we safely can. Oh, and by the way, I am getting pretty darn sick of them waking me at 6:00 am, on weekends, for their Farmers Dog!!! 4 stars due to price but 5 stars for quality and results I have seen in my pups.

Reading about Robin and Ingus’s improvement is truly uplifting. It’s clear how much effort and care you’ve put into their nutrition over the years, and we’re thrilled we could help them regain their vitality. Balancing cost and quality is important, and we appreciate your thoughtful approach. Thank you for your detailed review and for letting us be a part of their journey 🧡

Wholeheartedly recommend
I've tried so many different brands and varieties of dog food. I finally landed on The Farmer's Dog. I noticed the difference it made in my daughter's dog after just 1 week. That made me want to try it. My dogs love it, and no stomach upset (which happened in the past) and my one dog who could just slowly walk up one stair at a time, is now stepping with pep up the stairs after 2 weeks on FD. (Both my dogs are 13, and my daughter's dog is 4.) Plus The Farmer's Dog customer service is wonderful. I've texted them at all different times, day or night, and they answer. It's a little more money than the average pet food but it's so worth it!

Your praise for our customer service means a lot to us as well—being available when you need us is key. Thanks so much for your review!

My dog Clover absolutely loves Farmer's Dog Food
My dog Clover absolutely loves the Farmer's Dog food and it gives me great satisfaction and peace of mind to know I'm feeding her healthy food that she loves.
While the food is much more expensive on a monthly basis than kibble, and they do upfront try to sell you a full plan, you can opt for a basic starter plan which is a partial daily feed plan to start replacing whatever you had been feeding. Then you can increase or decrease your order amounts on your monthly orders going forward. I highly recommend giving them a try!
Response from The Farmer's DogSep 12, 2024
It’s great to hear that Clover is thriving on our food! We really appreciate your openness about the cost, and we’re glad you found the partial plan helpful in making the switch. Our goal is always to provide options that fit every household while keeping our pups healthy and happy. Let us know if we can be of any help in the future!

You can’t just purchase/try this product without a “plan”
Aside from their heavy handed marketing and the fact it seems as though they monitor sites like Reddit and TrustPilot, I still wanted to give it a try. The site was aggressive in the amount of information it required up front as well as there being no choice to order the amount you want to try or to order without a built in plan being required. They default you to their plan which means you have to remember to go back and cancel. They won’t let you simply pick a type of food based on what YOU think is best for your dog and you’re unable to order the amount YOU prefer. I’ve seen many complaints about this company and their practices but I was still willing to give them a try. But once I went though the process myself I realized that all that advertising they do feels a bit deceptive to me.

Brian — we truly appreciate you sharing this feedback with us. While we work closely with our on-staff board-certified nutritionists to figure out the most optimal plan for your dog, we do allow for your preferred recipes to be selected during signup. Additionally, since we operate as subscription service, our trial is intended to provide you and your dog with the opportunity to adjust to a fresh food diet before your subscription's recurring shipments begin. That said, we completely understand that every dog is unique so we hope it's reassuring to know that you're able to pause your plan or make adjustments after your trial is setup to ensure your dog is on the plan that works best for them. If you have any further questions about the plans we can offer for your dog, please feel free to send us an email at [email protected] and our team will be happy to provide any support they can.

Only Farmer's Dog will do…
Recently my dog Phoebe ran out of her Farmer's Dog fresh meals for a couple of days. I had to fill in her meals with Brand X food. She of course ate it, but I noticed that she didn't show that special excitement like she does when eating Farmer's Dog. Her tail is wagging again!
Response from The Farmer's DogAug 24, 2024
Phoebe is a fresh food fan for life! We're honored to spend mealtime with her!
