Farmer's Dog food is an excellent alternative to making homemade dog food yourself. The appearance, smell and texture of every recipe is all the proof you need to know that this dog food is homemade. Not to mention the way your dog will gobble it up in a few seconds flat! When I learned about Farmer's Dog Food I thought I'd give it a try. Previously I had made my dog homemade dog food for many years. It's a lot of work! Farmer's Dog Food gives you the reassurance that your dog is getting the correct amount of vitamins, minerals, protein, and calories. Your dog will thrive on it.

Our little "Kashi" is truly enjoying the fresh and moist Farmer's Dog recipes. No more dry kibbles. She eats enthusiastically. Her coat is even softer than before. Her stools are firm. She has fewer issues with her anal glands, which reduces trips to the vet and $$$'s, and we feel better about what we're feeding her. Managing our account, portions and shipping online is easy and the staff is always very friendly and helpful when we have a question.

Great dog food. My dogs love it. They have lost weight and have more energy.

We had a negative experience with The Farmer's Dog. To start, we received food that was mislabeled - not a huge deal, but we'd intended to start our dog on turkey as we'd read it was more digestible & thus easier to transition with. Instead chicken was labeled as turkey and vice versa. Bigger issue is the bait & switch on pricing. What was not clear in the sign-up process is that the first two shipments are 14 days worth of food, but the price quoted is for shipments of 28 days worth of food. We don't have a ton of freezer space, so when I noticed that our plan shifted to 28 days for the 3rd shipment, I moved it back to 14 days and saw the price increase by 20%. I called customer service and they explained this is a new process they're trying out, where they ship smaller "transition shipments" of 14 days for your first two orders, and then send you monthly shipments after that. The operator explained I must have missed that explanation on the order confirmation page about how the quoted price is actually for monthly shipments, and if you want 14 days after your second shipment, your price will go up significantly. I just went back through the order process and saw no such clarification up until you submit the order. I can only trust the operator that it is on the order confirmation page - after you've already signed up. :/ I will say that our dog liked the food, but for the high cost I never expected to get mislabeled food, or for the company to intentionally hide the fact that the rate only applies to an entire month's worth of food AFTER you've signed up. Trust is highly important for any company that's providing for our dog, and I found that severely lacking with The Farmer's Dog given the mislabeled food and intentional games with pricing. That's why we cancelled our subscription and will give one of the competitor's with cheaper rates a shot.

The First Box was for $18.90 for 60 oz of food. Then only two weeks later they charged me $151.11!!!! For something that was hidden in small print somewhere. I was screaming at them so they said they would refund my money, but in two weeks!!!!!! The people on the phone said there were emails that said the subscription, but I have all of my emails and NONE said anything about a subscription. LIARS !!! If you want to try their dog food, pay with PayPal - they will warn you of any hidden subscriptions.
