Rented a Thrifty car from San Francisco airport through Rentalcars.com for what I thought was a fixed price. When I picked the car up I had to take out additional insurance cover @ $133.96 as the car does not come with breakdown cover or a SPARE WHEEL! Apparantly none of Thriftys cars come with a spare wheel as they get stolen! What a con - don’t book Thrifty USA or via Rentalcars.com. Oh, and I didn’t get the car I ordered either. Nothing wrong with it but ~I didn’t want a mini SUV that drove like a dog.

Left very disappointed with my response from Customer Service. After many months of waiting I heard back from Gabriela, but after explaining my the problem she blamed me. I was given a car which was completely covered in damage and then told by her it's my fault for accepting the car and instead I should have phoned them to explain. Who has time to make all these phone calls after waiting 1.5 hours already with firefly??? DON"T BOOK WITH RENTALCARS.COM!!

Scam beware! My father in law supposed to get a car for 16 euro for one day and after I paid with my credit I got a voucher saying that when he would get the car he must give them 1100 euro. If you're looking for a cheap rental you will pay a lot...

Booked a car through the website. I couldn't pick it up due to their T&C not stating some rare conditions. The transaction was cancelled by EasiRent and I and my wife were assured that would not incur any charges. However, RentalCars decided to charge me a full rental amount plus overpriced excess insurance - a total of more than £90! After complaining I was promised that I will receive a refund immediately. Later on, I declined a refund and asked to WAIT 7 days before starting another complaint! After that period my complaint was disregarded and I was blocked from contacting the RentalCars again! Clearly scam and the way for there to make extra money due to the T&C which are against Trading Standards. BEWARE - it is very easy to lose money with Rentalcars.com and have no rights to appeal! PS. Look how they cheat their own reviews from the TrustPilot!! I should read them first - my bad! Edit: It was the reconsideration complaint and the investigation launched by my Credit Card provided which made Rentalcars review their decision and compare it with their own T&C. It turned out that I was right and there is an ambiguity in the T&C, They apologized, refunded the money and there is a hope that T&C will be amended to provide such confusion in future. Initial rating changed to 3 and I will give them another chance to prove their quality.

One of the worst companies I ever dealt with. Stole £100 from me for a £77 rent, without a reason or even an explanation. And to add insult to injury, their online customer service doesn't even try to help and the phone customer service just disconnect you. It's been a month now and I got nowhere. DON'T USE THEIR SERVICES!!!

Booked using this site 3 times previous - no issues. Thought 4th time a charm and that I could rely on them for my hen do arrangements in London. Nope!!! When it all goes wrong expect no responsibility to be taken by Rental cars! Worst service & Customer service I've ever received. Booked 2 months in advance for a car to be picked up at 11pm in Gatwick on 26/09/19. Provided flight number & mobile number as flights have a tendency to be delayed and in the past I've had to pick up cars late. No issue as I thought this time would be like any other time I had my flight delayed. I was wrong... Flight delayed from 10:20pm to 12:30am. No call from the car rental company which I thought was odd as previously I've recieved a courtesy call in the past to ensure I was still coming. Finally arrive at the rental desk to find the place closed at 12:40am - in all fairness the rental desk closed at 12am, but in the past there's always been a late team on in case of flight delays. Stranded in Gatwick I quickly found the 24hr call information page on RentalCars.com website... and you guessed it there was no number! There was an online chat service which took 3 attempts to use. Eventually I was put through to a member of the team who advised I could be refunded but not the cancellation fee and the booking was cancelled! To say at this point I was livid was an understatement. All I wanted was car to get me to my families home 40 miles away. The only car available from gatwick was with another provider which rental cars wasn't willing to arrange without me paying 4x the original priced I paid for. Considering I had pre-arranged my booking ahead of time I thought this was a joke! In the end I managed to source a lift so I said the online chat handler that I wished to make a complaint & have a full refund including the cancellation fee as they were the ones to cancel my booking and were unwilling to provide a replacement. The response I received was this could only be applied for after the booking period ended, it would then take 7 days to review before a decision was made! By this time I had been on the chat for 40 minutes. and home for 3:30am 27/09/19. 27/09/19 8am. Alamo the car company open via Enterprise in Gatwick. After a brief call to explain the situation, I found out that the rentalcars.com booking system did not supply Alamo/Enterprise with my mobile number or flight reference! The lovely gentleman at the rental centre offers me a replacement car in a centre near me and the ability to return it in Gatwick and the end date and time as there was availability - I just needed to go through Rentalcars.com customer service. If only it was that easy. The Customer service representative I spoke to had one of the worst attitudes I've heard. After being tutted at and told I had 'no choice' but to go with the cancellation I requested I speak to his manager. She was equally as unhelpful as the car enterprise arranged was not at a rental centre they supplied. the only option I had was to go back to gatwick - 4 hours away to pick up the car or accept the refund without the cancellation fee (I must add the refund was for £15 and the rest was the fee!! I paid £64 for the car rental which a bargain and isn't a lot to do a goodwill gesture for). Fed up and on the verge of tears due to lack of sleep from stress and my hen do being ruined I hung up. 30/09/19 - This was the cherry on the cake - Rentalcars.com emailed to ask how was my car hire and wanted a review of the car I hired! This is not the end.. they still have my money. The level of disparities in their process is ridiculous and I will take this further if I need to! AVOID AVOID AVOID!

Having booked and payed for a car online - I arrive in Italy only to find the Total Bill was NOT the Total Bill! (I had NO reason to search for any additional/small print charges as the invoice displayed the words TOTAL BILL). The original TOTAL BILL was actually part pre-payment and the Total Bill was actually over double the cost of the original TOTAL BILL! Communicating with Customer Services I explained I would not have booked the car if I had been made aware of the additional charges. Their FINAL reply and my response: Europcar UK Customer Service - Case #06492026 Dear Peter Thank you for taking the time to further contact Europcar Customer Services on the 27th September 2019. The original reservation was made via a third party, Traveljigsaw, and this was a part prepayment and so the remaining charges and local fees have been applied correctly and accordingly. Please be advised if you wish to escalate this matter, please contact Travel jigsaw directly. Thank you for contacting us. Update: after many weeks of getting nowhere with customer service. I wrote a letter to head office who resolved my issue and gave me back my money and apologised for the mistake. This is some consolation but the amount of time I had to spend on this means I am still unlikely to use them again. I used Rentalcars to search for a car rental company who would not charge young driver fees. After putting in my age (24) I found a supplier who would not charge for over 21s. I went ahead and booked thinking all was well. I then got an email from support saying they had to change my booking. After getting them to confirm (in writing) that under the new booking I would be reimbursed (as per my original terms) any young drivers fee, I agreed to the new booking. Fast forward to picking up my car, the rental company had no idea about any of this and Rentalcars had not provided them with the details. I have no received my money back and so far as left hundreds of pounds out of pocket. This was all weeks ago and customer support are very slow to resolve this, even after providing them with my initial written confirmation from themselves stating in clear terms that I would not have to pay any young drivers fee. Absolutely fuming with how they have dealt with it and I will not be using them again and I will be recommending to anyone I know that they are not to be trusted.
