another tale of prepaid reservation, rental company cancelled it due to no availability. Rentalcars.com kept my deposit anyway and I have to make a dispute to try to recover the £400 I paid them. complete scam

Hello Rentalcars.com is basically an organisation to steal people. We rent a car in Portugal on their website and paid with our debit card. When we arrived at the rental car agency, we were told we could not rent the car because we had to have a credit card. Although we had an American Express and three Visas, the rental car agency would not accept it. When we called Rentalcars.com to cancel the booking, they told us they would charge us a fee of 3 days of rental. This is merely stealing people money. Just check their Trustpilot reviews), this company has a culture of stealing people money and ruining your holidays. I write to you to get a full refund of the reservation I could not start

We paid by debit card to rent a car. Upon turning up to pick up the car, the Rentalcars partner (Flex) said that we need to pay extra for full insurance if we do not have a creditcard. Our argument here is that 1. this was not clear while booking and 2. why does rentalcars.com accept payment for such partners by debitcard if you actually need a credit card? Moreover, despite us not renting the car, we were refused the right to appeal it (despite this being a part of EU law) and told we have to wait until the booking period had expired.

Scammers. Advertised as free cancellation but it isn't. They keep any deposit or money paid upfront! This is not clear from the booking page and is hidden deep in the T&Cs with 3 words. Apparently this was introduced since Covid as there were so many people cancelling! 🤔 Avoid.

Scammers, avoid! Google search shows NO HIDDEN FEES! But they definitely do. Trying to charge a 1200EUR deposit. It is NOT in the emails, it is NOT clear when making the booking. It appears to only be hidden in the terms and conditions. I only noticed when printing out the e-voucher when leaving to collect the car. So tried to cancel, but they charge a cancellation fee. If I knew about the excessively high deposit I would never have booked it. AVOID THIS COMPANY!
