Like most great companies, it all started with an idea. In 1974, Jon and Christel DeHaan set out to add greater value to the timeshare experience when they pioneered the vacation exchange concept. The DeHaans developed a system that allowed owners to exchange time at their home resort for a stay at a different affiliated property—delivering a new level of flexibility and choice to timeshare owners and revolutionizing an industry in the process.Today, RCI remains the leader in vacation exchange, offering the world’s largest vacation exchange network and providing unrivaled products and services to enhance the vacation ownership experience. It’s one of the many reasons why more resorts trust RCI to deliver vacation exchange services to its subscribing members than any other company across the globe

Appalling options, only provide expensive Getaways and useless Exchange options when no-one wants to go. Cannot WAIT to be shot of this rubbish!!!

RCI does not care about it's Customers. be warned.
So we booked with RCI during a Pandemic and as luck would have it my wife developed a 104 degree fever 2 days before we were leaving for hawaii. The Airlines and every other organization refundined and worked with us except RCI, We had also invited another couple so instead of losing the transfer fees and all of our points we decided to allow them to use our booking. RCI charged us $89 to transfer it. This company does not care about it's customers and will not see another dime from me in the future. So in short.... What is it worth to lose a customer.... The answer is $89...

RCI really needs to work on Communication, customer follow up and follow through
RCI really needs to work on communication amongst their own staff and the resorts they are servicing. The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing...in the same room! I booked a vacation to Sedona Pines and made sure the lady from RCI notated that it was a service animal (because I have one). The woman put PET! RCI, according to ADA guidelines, service animals are not pets! Learn the laws. Secondly, RCI never send me a confirmation email after I requested a "free" upgrade to 2 room suite because we were "platinum" members. I called Sedona Pines to confirm and the manager at the front desk said they not only put PET after I specifically told RCI it was a service animal but that no-one ever put the request in to begin with, which resulted in me NOT getting the free room upgrade. It gets better, when I called a third time to double confirm our reservation, the lady at RCI I spoke with couldn't even find my reservation, I had to get a manager involved for them to find it! RCI fix your communication issues, I will be putting in a complaint against you to the ADA as well as BBB.

Hello, Paul. We are sorry to hear of your experience with the resort. Of course, all ADA service animals are not considered pets, and thus are allowed to stay with you for no additional fee. RCI does not own or sell timeshares, so sometimes the resorts do get things wrong. When booking, RCI Guides do not send notes to the resort of any kind (the systems we use do not allow for it), so we apologize for the lack of clarity. We always recommend the traveling guest alert the resort of any special accommodations that will be needed before arrival. In addition, the customer service representatives cannot see upgrade requests. It is all done on the back end on our side, which they have no access to. The resort employees do not work for RCI, and thus may not know all procedures and policies on our end. We apologize for the confusion, and hope your stay was otherwise great. Thank you for leaving your review.

Pay annual subscription for what??
RCI site appears to have been down for months. 99% of the time there are what RCI say are “Technical Difficulties”. We pay an annual subscription for what? For the non-availability of timeshare? RCI - you are a total disgrace! I once got into the site but there were no timeshare apartments available in U.K. If you cannot provide, do NOT take our money!

Terrible experience‼️
Terrible experience‼️
Where do I begin? I only gave one star because I have to. We can not travel because of covid19 but RCI will not refund us our cruise money. We keep speaking to different representatives and getting false answers. We wanted a full refund. Finally, after going back and forth we agreed to have some of the funds back and it's been 6 weeks and no refund. Once again were get the runaround. Different representatives with different answers. No money as yet! They also owe us money for a 2-night stay in a hotel in North Carolina ( emergency stay) we were charged twice. Once again no refund. So now you all know RCi doesn't Refund under any circumstances. This company is TRASH. They need to be out of business. So many companies went under since the pandemic RCI needs to be one of them. I wish the government would step in. Anybody thinking about joining RCI DONT!

RCI are inflexible and unhelpful when you can't travel due to Covid ,
During Covid we have had one british airways holiday cancelled and were treated very fairly by them, we couldn't travel and the refunded in full no questions asked . We also had two holidays in 2020 with RCI , these were both points bookings and RCI gave a credit for the booking fee and refunded the points. I then paid to extend the points. This year I have 2 weeks in RCI properties booked for August but we can't travel as two of the family would have to isolate on our return which we can't do and now our flights have been cancelled anyway. RCI have changed their policy, no credits for exchange fees and no help with refunding points - there is NOWHERE available to book to places you can travel to easily or in the UK . You can't re book if you wanted to. The charges are very high for booking and the standards in the resorts are variable to say the least. Getting through on the phone takes ages and I can't find any help on the website. We have been members for nearly 20 years - what a waste of money continuing with RCI is. Even easy jet is refunding and giving credit vouchers - I never thought I would say they are better than RCI but now they are. Very disappointed and looking to move our timeshare exchanges elsewhere unless things improve drastically

DONT DO IT!!!
I paid 10000 around 2010 for an every other year 1 bedroom condo timeshare with interval international. I used my timeshare once in the 10 years because of limited times and unavailable hotels. I just came from a presentation where i was told my timeshare switched to RCI points. I get nothing for the timeshare I own and have never used but they tried to bine me into another company contract. They used every sales tactic to convince my wife and I. Thank god we stood our ground and said NO. Timeshares and points are wasted money. Just throw cash into a garbage can. Booking fees, maintenance fees, account fees, they will keep charging you fees or raising existing ones. One funny thing was, my wife knows where she wants to go for the next 2 years and we asked about the areas and hotels we know we want to stay. They said numerous times the hotels are available with the point system. We kept asking to show us the hotels and the times we want to go on the RCI account and the sales person kept stalling. We finally walked out.
Thank you all who have left your reviews and made this decision so much easier .

Hello, Cliff. RCI is not in the business of buying and selling timeshares. RCI only acts an exchange for members to exchange their ownership with other members. While we are sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction with your purchase, RCI does not sell points ownerships, or any kind of timeshare ownership. If you have any additional questions in this regard, we recommend reaching out to the company you purchased your timeshare through.
Thank you,
Caitlin, your RCI Travel Guide

Terrible Experience
I normally don't write negative reviews, but I feel like there needs to be warning before committing to using RCI. After spending 1.5hrs hour on hold with RCI to look into booking a trip, I was connected with a very nice representative who help me find the right trip for us (what I thought was the right trip at least). I was able to book a 3 night stay at the Dreams Resort in Costa Rica for 3 people for 2400 points plus a $150 reservation fee. (Another option in Costa Rica for 3 people on the same days was only 1200 points- just for reference of how much more this trip was) After booking with RCI we received a booking confirmation and reservation stating the dates were confirmed, the total due for the resort was an additional $1,700 (for the all inclusive food and drink) and the reservation was for 3 people. We were excited for the trip until we arrived to the resort and they told us we owed $2,400 because the reservation was only for 2 people originally and that we would need to pay for the third person. After wasting HOURS arguing that our reservation was made for 3 people (proof was on the RCI confirmation/reservation we received) they continued to say that we owed the $2,400. However, the resort gave us access to the room and said they would work on getting this resolved with RCI. After spending the few days at the resort, we arrived to check out with the same answer. The frustration here is that we were told the amount and confirmed the cost, points, people and days with RCI and even have a confirmed reservation, and they were still charging us the higher amount. It ruined our trip because we did not plan to spend that much money on the resort in addition to the points we spent. What's really frustrating is that I looked up the same reservation (3 people, 3 nights & same hotel) directly on the Dreams website and it was a GRAND TOTAL of $1,800 (including room & all inclusive). I also looked it up on Costco Travel and Travelocity and they had similar totals. It has been proven not worth it to pay RCI or to roll over points from another time share company when it ends up costing more overall and they will not honor the reservation they confirmed and agreed to. At this point I would not recommend RCI to anyone.
