I had ordered 3 office chairs from this company because I was referred to them by a close friend who owns an interior design business and they had used Madison Seating before and seemed pleased. The 3 chairs I ordered were Drafting stools priced at $165 a piece. I thought that was a good price for a good reliable chair. Shipping was great and when the chairs arrived I quickly assembled one to see how it looked. The instructions in the chair were not the correct instructions for the specific chair so I had to go online (like many other people have said) and find the correct instructions. Chair was assembled and seemed nice. I thought the quality of the chair would be much nicer given the price but it was all plastic and not well made at all. I sat in the chair and quickly realized it would not work for my business as the seat was way to small and narrow and any person over 125 lbs would never be comfortable at all on this chair. That again was not a big deal, just return them and find something else. I contacted customer service and they were helpful through email until they told me they were charging me a 30% restocking fee on my entire order for my return. I completely agree I should be charged a fee for the chair that I opened and assembled however the other two chairs are still sealed, with manufacturer tape, and never touched. The customer service at Madison Seating let me know that there was no way around the fee (again I understand for the open one) but they told me the other two unopened chairs could never be sold as new. Their website does state the restocking fee between 10%-30% so I thought these chairs would be 10% and not on the highest end given they are in small boxes and quite easy to handle (I didn't order a giant desk or cabinet). I was told multiple times this is the manufacturers fee and they couldn't help me at all. Finally they did say I could write a detailed letter pleading my case to the manufacturer asking for my restocking fee to be waved and put it in the box. I doubt anyone would ever see that. I will not ever order anything from this company and will inform as many people as possible to avoid them as well.

I ordered from Madison Seating because they had what I wanted (Herman Miller Mirra chair) at a great price. Their shipping policy and timeframes were clearly posted on the site, and my order arrived earlier than expected! I did contact customer service with a question about shipping, and their response was prompt and courteous. I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again.

All in all everything went well. Delivery was delayed but e-mail response was quick. After delivery there was a small issue which they rectified very promptly. Because the customer service was good, they were very professional and accommodating, and the price was way lower than anywhere else they earn 5 stars.

UPDATE: I was just informed that madisonseating.com released my name, address, phone number to a third party entity in retaliation for my review and received a message a heading "YOU CAN RUN, BUT YOU CAN`T HIDE". The madisonseating.com response to my case failed to mention that I had provided an image demonstrating the defect in their product. Since I have been using these chairs for years and since the chair I ordered matched my height/weight according to the manufacturer's chart, madisonseating.com has no basic concept about the sizing/options of the product that they try to distribute. ***************************************************** Purchased a Herman Miller Aeron chair through their website. They informed me the following day that they are out of that item, will get some in about 8 weeks. I have been waiting when I received an email that the purchased item would not be available. Purchased another model. Received it promptly. The plastic material was ripped/pulled out of the frame at the bottom part of the chair and was like a hammock, my rear part almost touching the mechanic box (I am 6' 2'', 176 lbs). Contacted them, explained that it was defective. They advised me to return it and pay for shipping. I asked them about their offer on the main page listing free returned shipping. After some hesitation they complied. I took some images of the defective part and sent it back. They gave me a refund $50 less than I paid. I pointed out that what they sent was defective and included a photo. Their response was: what they sell are "Open Box Specials" and therefore defects are expected on the the chair due to storage, items in their facility are often get rolled around, some more than others.

Madisonseating.com is an awesome company. I’m glad I didn’t base my purchase on the some of these reviews posted. As far as their open box specials are concerned, I have been placing orders for my company with Madisonseating.com since 2012. We have never had an issue with the quality of the chairs. We saved thousands of dollars and received nothing less than top notch chairs. We requested warranty service on a few arms, as many of our employees tend to push the chair under the desk. The warranty service was seamless and interacting with the customer service staff was great. If you are looking to receive quality brand name chairs at the lowest prices around, this is the website for you.

Madisoneating.com has the best prices and customer service around. Ordered several different brand name chairs to outfit my new office space. The sales agent helped me select the right ones and the prices were incredible. The open box chairs came in perfect condition. Will most certainly be back to buy again!!

EDIT******** I posted a 3 star review, because the seat was obviously not "open box" it was used, and resold. I stated the price was good and I would probably buy one again other than the slow (3 week from order to arrival) shipping and the fact they wouldn't credit me the like 40$ for the sale within 30 days of purchase(which I have had more than one other seller do). I thought it was an overall positive review (Cheapest price, but not fastest service) Then I start getting phone calls, within 2 months I had 5-6 phone calls from 3 different people at Madison Seating. Jesus! If you were that worried about your reviews it seems like you wouldn't try so hard to hide the fact the chairs are not new, the shipping might be a little faster, AND YOU WOULD NOT HARASS YOUR CUSTOMERS ----------------- I had originally posted on here back in January. I had posted that I liked my two chairs and that I thought the price was great, but that when I had done my research I was worried after some of the reviews I had found. It took two weeks for my chairs to show up, The chairs squeaked a bit, but I explained that for the price I was totally OK with that, everything else was "like-new". Overall I thought that it was a good experience and I was glad that I had made the purchase. Two weeks later the chairs got a discount for 25$ cheaper than I had paid, and I had sent an email about getting a price match, I recieved a reply that that it would be a possibility and that they would check and let me know. My next reply was that I could not get a price match due to my negative review, I did not see my review as negative, I thought it was honest and primarily positive. that was when Madison Seating got wind of my review and started calling me, my review was "not worded to their liking and I had to change it", or send the chairs back so they could "correct any problems". It took two weeks from ordering to get my chair, I was not going to send it back and be without my chairs because of a squeak. After I refused to send the chairs back, I got called again, then again, then by the sales woman's manager. He said that my review was causing issues and being brought up in their weekly meeting, asked if he could make it right and I could take my review down. I agreed to remove my review, if they would just agree to my original price match request, that I had no problems with the purchase and that I thought the review was honest and positive, he agreed, I took my reviews down. That was a few months ago, and as soon as I took my reviews down, I never heard another word. I never did believe the 5 star ratings on any of the sites, it was all 5 star ratings, or 1/2 star ratings with almost nothing in between. Realize that that is because they harass the people who leave low ratings until they get what they want. I just wonder how many people they got what they wanted from and then did not hold up their end of the bargain.

(The reply by this company is not accurate, I did not ask for a free chair, they did hide the fact that these are used chairs and they also asked me to remove my review in exchange for an item. Very unprofessional reply and unbelievable that they would treat a customer like this.) --My original review-- I am very disappointed with Madison Seating. It all started with receiving a chair with no instructions on how to assemble, I had to go online and after searching without success, I emailed customer service and waited for them to reply with a link to YouTube for assembly, which I could not believe for such an expensive chair. They also sent a part that did not belong to the chair, so I spent I good amount of time figuring out where to put the part, after emailing them they just said it was an error. After assembling the chair, a week or two later I noticed the chair was small and I thought I was not very happy with the chair, so I went online and found a YouTube video discussing how to verify the size of the Aeron chair, which confirmed they shipped the wrong size. I am 6'4, so a small chair would not work. After I emailed them, they did not apologize, they emailed me a shipping label to return it. Which means you have to take the chair down and find a huge box or hopefully you kept the huge box just in case you need to return it. You also need to miss a day of work to stay home during the week waiting for FedEx all day to pickup the huge box. After returning the chair, they said they would immediately send a new chair, they did not, they waited for the chair to arrive and waited about a week to send the new chair, its been a month and a half chair drama. Buy your chair locally, you might find the deal attractive, but they can care less about their customers.
