ZERO STARS. A complete trap, defective chairs and astronomical return shipping!
If I could give negative stars, I absolutely would. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT buy from Madison Seating.
I ordered a Steelcase Amia chair from them, and the experience has been a nightmare. This isn't my first bad experience with them either, a previous chair I bought from them wasn't even level and now just collects dust because I missed the return window. This time, I contacted them well within their 30-day window to return the chair because it did not meet my needs.
Their customer service had the nerve to tell me that "Customer service is our #1 priority" right after brushing off my complaints by saying it’s an "open box/refurbished" item so I should just accept the imperfections.
Here is the ultimate scam: They force the customer to pay for all return shipping, even when they send you a subpar or defective product. Their terms state: "All shipping costs and arrangements associated with returned merchandise will be the customer’s responsibility."
Do you know how much it costs to ship a massive, 48-pound office chair box back to their warehouse in New Jersey? It costs anywhere from $100 to over $200! They know exactly what they are doing. They ship out questionable, defective "refurbished" inventory knowing that you will be trapped into either keeping a chair you hate or losing a fortune on freight shipping just to get a partial refund.
Their customer service is a joke, their products are a gamble, and their return policy is a financial trap. Buy from a reputable dealer who actually stands behind their products. Avoid Madison Seating at all costs!

Don't ever buy from Madision Seating
I have had the chair for a little more than 1 year. It has started to fall apart. They said it was warranteed and I could send it back. It was going to cost me $500 to send it back. They would not do anything to help make it more affordable. Why would I send a chair back for repair that would cost me an additional $500.00. They should be ashamed of themselves. Horrible customer service

scammers and bad customer service
I received broken chairs, and my credit card was charged twice without my authorization. Customer service was dismissive, rude, and completely unhelpful. The representative had an attitude, and the supervisor was even worse. They repeatedly failed to respond or resolve the duplicate charges and damaged merchandise. Based on my experience, this company operates in a deeply unprofessional and dishonest manner. I strongly recommend avoiding Madison Seating. Online saw this behavior and them telling people to put good review to even return the chair. Worst customer service.

Don't use
I called to inquire about buying a chair that had three different sizes. I had called the customer support to inquire about the sizes I tried to explain to them I was in middle of the size B in C chair with my height and weight. That I thought I needed a B chair but before I could even get a word in edgewise the customer service Rep interrupted me and said based on my height and weight I was firmly in the size C category. I assumed that they knew something that I did not. I asked about the return policy and they said that I can return it no problem. No mention of the cost or shipping fee or anything of the sort
Initially I did not receive a notice of the FedEx tracking number. So after about a week I called to inquire about that. The representative on the phone was short and rude. Told me that they could only respond to an e-mail request. So I did e-mail about the tracking number and I got that from them. When the chair finally arrived there was a hole in the box, 2 of them I believe and one of the bolts for the armrests were stripped out. At the time I was hoping to be happy with my purchase so I didn't report because I'm not petty about small things like that and everything else seemed to be intact
I tried to use the chair for about a week and then I realized that I did in fact need the size B chair. I emailed them to ask about a return and getting a similar priced chair in size B. It was at that time that they informed me I would need to pay for shipping. I tried to explain I wanted the size B chair initially but their representative pushed me into the size C. They said they would never do that. Effectively they called me a liar and suggested I was not financially capable of buying a full priced chair, so I had to use their discount service. So I asked if they record their customer service interactions. I had the time and date and would like to hear the recording of my interaction with their representative. They refused and after a few emails back and for with someone calling herself Manager Susan a woman called me who I assume was manager Susan.
It was the craziest experience I have ever had with a “customer service” rep. She basically yelled at me about wanting to return the chair, talked over me and would not listen to anything I had to say. Before the call even started I asked if we could record the conversation of course she refused knowing how wildly unprofessional she was about to be. I put the phone on Speaker and my 7 year old son was there. He even said she was being crazy. She did pay for the return label because I think she realized how bad this was.
Once the call was over she would not let it go and continued to email me. So I return the chair. As soon as I see the chair had been delivered I called to make sure they were going to refund my money. This customer service rep told me I had to email them. I explained what happened and I did not want to run the risk of being accosted by another one of their employees. He said he had no idea what I was talking about and I said well I’m trying to explain it to you. He would not help me and I had to email them again. Thankfully no cold calls to yell at me this time around when I emailed them. They eventually refunded me but took out $50 restocking fee. To be honest the contested charge is still on going so I keep checking my statements to make sure they don’t make any more charges
This is a discount service for a reason. They have rude, unprofessional employees and are a petty, dishonest company. I would not do any business with them for any reason

New Open Box but a Refurbished Chair
They listed a product as New Open Box, but sent me a refurbished chair that was obviously used and several years old. Shipping for a return was about 1/3rd of the order so I just kept it. They are intentionally misleading customers and I would recommend avoiding.

Shady business
Bought a herman miller embody which seemed like a good deal while it was discounted. However returns weren't free in case there was an issue with the chair.
In my case there was pilling on the reupholstered fabric on the chair. Scratches on the frame and a broken wheel on the base. They actually had the nerve to say as a "one time courtesy" they would replace the broken wheel. Keep in mind the chair is suppose to have a warranty from defects.
I would avoid this business and look for deals elsewhere. I can only imagine the condition these chairs are refurbished from and it seems they do it in the cheapest way,

Worst Customer Service in finance department
If I could leave negative stars I would! I read all the other reviews and I’m having similar issues. The seat broke, the cost of shipping it back and forth would be nearly as much as the chair cost. I tried calling, got through to a female in FINANCE dept and explained very nicely what was going on with the seat. The lady on the phone was extremely condescending and defensive from the start, which seemed uncalled for. I was spoken to in a manner that was demeaning and the interaction absolutely lacked professionalism, empathy, and respect.
I asked if I could possibly return just the seat that was broken and she got even more nasty and rude. Madison Seating professionalism is out the window. -10 Stars for the worst customer service in my 30 years being in sales myself.

My experience with Madison Seating was extremely frustrating and required months of effort to resolve.
The chair I received arrived broken. I contacted Madison Seating and attempted to return it, but the company initially refused to accept the return. Because I had received a defective product and could not obtain a satisfactory resolution directly from the company, I disputed the charge with Chase.
Only after I initiated the chargeback did Madison Seating agree to accept the return. I followed their instructions and sent the chair back. However, Madison Seating then contested the chargeback and won the dispute. At that point, the company had both the returned chair and my payment.
Despite the fact that the chair was no longer in my possession, Madison Seating refused to issue a refund. I repeatedly tried to resolve the matter directly, but I was unable to get my money returned. I ultimately had to file a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau regarding Chase’s handling of the dispute. Chase eventually refunded me, but only after the CFPB complaint—not because Madison Seating voluntarily corrected the situation.
The entire process was unnecessarily difficult. I received a broken chair, was initially denied a return, returned the chair once the company finally agreed to take it back, and then had to fight to recover payment for an item the company already had in its possession.
My experience with Madison Seating was extraordinarily frustrating and, in my opinion, completely unacceptable.
The chair I received arrived broken. I contacted Madison Seating and attempted to return it, but the company initially refused to accept the return or provide a satisfactory resolution. Because I had paid for a defective product and could not resolve the issue directly with the company, I disputed the charge through my bank.
Only after I initiated the chargeback did Madison Seating agree to accept the return. I followed their instructions, shipped the chair back, and retained documentation showing that it had been returned. Madison Seating then contested the chargeback and won. This meant that the company had both the returned chair and my money.
Despite having the chair back in its possession, Madison Seating refused to refund my payment. I repeatedly attempted to resolve the matter, but the company would not return my money. I ultimately had to file a complaint with a federal consumer-protection agency regarding my bank’s handling of the dispute. My bank eventually refunded me, but only after I formally escalated the matter.
As if that experience were not troubling enough, I later received a communication from Madison Seating threatening legal action if I posted a negative review about what happened. Rather than addressing the substance of my complaint, the company attempted to discourage me from publicly describing my experience.
To summarize: I received a broken chair, was initially refused a return, disputed the charge, returned the chair after the company finally agreed to accept it, and then lost the chargeback after Madison Seating contested it. The company was therefore left with both the chair and my payment and still refused to refund me. I had to involve a federal consumer-protection agency to recover my money, and I was then threatened with a lawsuit for considering leaving a negative review.
Everything stated here reflects my personal experience and the records I retained from the transaction, return, chargeback, complaint, and subsequent communications.
Based on this experience, I would strongly caution prospective customers. Photograph the product immediately upon delivery, save every email and message, retain all shipping and tracking records, and document every interaction. I would never purchase from Madison Seating again.
