One of the worst background check companies one can ever encounter. Probably low cost, they try to verify university diplomas from non English speaking countries by calling the office in English and wondering why they get no result. Same method goes also with approaching HR from former employment places (if they ever manage to reach them and find them as some multinationals do not provide this contact data publicly and Hireright does not walk the extra mile) . They work mechanically as per pre-written procedures and seldom use logic in their approach or creativity. Former background checks made by them are not reused so the same information gets verified again and again. Attachments added to a background check are not properly screened and thus they ask for the same information again (very superficial). Despite this employers still believe they are effective and pay for their service. Quite a sham if you ask me but this is how the current economical model works, supply and demand.

This company took 5+ weeks to conduct a search that takes literally a mater of seconds. I understands it’s a BG check, but this company seemingly presents itself as “conducting research” in an effort to prove its value to clients. This can be hugely negative for applicants. You could have zero history, but the vague updates have the potential to create negative perceptions with potential employers. I’ve found myself having to explain things that are irrelevant. I called my local court house, DAs office and State. All checked my name in seconds and returned “no data”. Yet HireRight takes 5 weeks??? Lazy company that takes personal info of applicants and waste their time.

Started the process on June 10th. Provided additional documentation on June 18th. Today is July 23 and still no progress. Supposedly waiting for the state of New Hampshire to return their report. Not sure why this was even required as I've never been to New friggin Hampshire!! This company is horrible. Contacted them on four (4) different occasions and after a lengthy time on hold, received the same response each time we would know something within 24-48 hours). If you have an option, choose another company.

I wish HireRight didnt have all my personal information going back 40 years. I regret I allowed this to happen. Its been going on 3 weeks and I am still waiting. Their information is wrong and to dispute they wanted to see my W2. I did not comply but rather reluctantly let the information they gathered stand. The customer service is like talking to a robot. I wish I would of just told the hiring company never mind but all this time has passed. This has never happened before in the past the background check with drug test came back within 2-3 days. I feel violated.

This company is terrible. They asked me to upload diploma which is in maiden name. They did the education check with my married name and then advised my employer that there was a discrepancy. They have now had to reopen the background check to reo what should have been done right the first time with no sense of urgency. They don't care that their incompetence is ruining employment prospective for people.

I would give a zero if I could. We have been a client of HireRight for almost 10 years and their level of 'customer service' is mind-blowingly bad. The customer services team is not that bad, but their product is genuinely terrible. They take way longer than you agree to when you need things set up. When I needed something urgently on behalf of my business they took a month to get the first step done, when they said it would be 2-3 business days. Applicants often get 'stuck' in their system. When you call the customer services helpline, the automated options don't work or just cut out. It's a joke. They are grossly expensive for the 'service' they provide. I would never recommend them to a company that is looking to outsource their reference checks.

For every review that's bad regarding this company given upto now 7.6.2021 is spot on. I would say for any company using this background check company please for the life of your company and for the people that are being consider for a job DO NOT use this background check company!! They have my personal information and that scares the hell out of me seeing how sorry they're as a company obtaining a person's background check. I agree with every negative review on this page.

A thanks to the reviewers here. Your experiences tally with my own. I am now being bombarded with HireRight emails, one of which asked me for details of a degree I did 38 years ago! I won't document the raft of other nonsense this cowboy company has done since it has been well covered here. The outsourcing company I work for use HireRight to vet staff. If this company cared about its staff and didn't want to lose them it would dump HR immediately. I'm looking for other work because I have not the patience to jump through hoops like some performing monkey to satisfy a checking procedure that tells the employer NOTHING about my ability to do the job.
