I am a consultant and my employer used HireRight to complete a background check. They have been completely incompetent, but the most egregious is their handling of my fingerprint card and subsequent customer service response to my inquiries. They had no information on the whereabouts of arguably the most confidential personal information I could give them (for a week) and refused to escalate my requests and instead chose multiple times to hang up on me. I lost a position because of their actions and lack of responsiveness.

I am receiving daily emails from Hireright asking me to provide a reference for an individual my company has never employed. I have replied and told them this and yet they keep sending the emails and even have the nerve to give me a deadline! They are sending sensitive personal information about a candidate to the wrong company. This is in breach of GDPR let alone being totally incompetent! As an employer I would strongly recommend you don't use this company to do your reference checking as they clearly don't know what they are doing.

I’ve worked with the same company for sixteen years, and my new job is using HireRight to do my background check. HireRight keeps asking me for documentation from the jobs I had 16 and 17 years ago! The company is out of business, I have no idea what happened to their HR records and my IRS records only go back ten years. I’ve explained to them on so. many. separate. phone calls that I don’t have this information and can’t get it. I only keep records ten years back. One person said they couldn’t find a record of the companies existing but literally five minutes of Googling turned up their old phone numbers and tax ID numbers. And these are professional investigators?? The last person I talked to suggested I pay to get my old W-2 forms from social security. It’s $90 per request for those...so you expect me to spend $180 to prove where I worked? Come on. I’m going to tell the on-boarding folks at my new job about how bad the experience with Hire Right was. Truly awful. They couldn’t investigate a paper bag.

Frustrating working with HIREWRONG Company. One of vendor has initiated BGC through HireRight, not sure why they did choose to work with such wrong company to hire resource. They call on Weekends or after hours and leave message. When we call back on number left in VM they don't respond. They report client mentioning Employment Verification not done. Surprisingly has responded one email and has taken couple of calls. Still report isn't cleared and is past hire date now.

The incompetence of HireRight is really showing that they are not fit for modern ways of working. Why on earth would they not accept a digitally signed consent form? Requesting consent for procedures is one thing, but what if somebody does not have access to a printer? Last time I checked most offices are still shut due to COVID restrictions, as are most print shops. A lot of people have lost their jobs and having to stake a chance of employment on owning a printer?! That is just beyond ridiculous, I would be not surprised if they asked for a physical wax-sealed letter delivered by a pigeon.

I am being background checked by HireRight and I must admit they are an absolute nightmare. As a background checking company, they should have access to several company/business directories to look up employers registered in the UK. Once the name, address, phone number of the employer, start and end date of employment are provided it is then their job to do the investigation. They however, do no investigation at all. They just keep bombarding me with all kind of requests instead of doing their job. I am in pharmaceutical, so my current and previous employers are not some small private businesses in a tiny village somewhere in the countryside no one has ever heard about. They are major companies operating in the UK and the fact that HireRight are not able to locate them raises rather high level of concerns about their competencies.

it you read their about us corporate facts list on their website something seems really off. they brag about being involved with Singapore and then becoming established in dubai... This is just yet ANOTHER silicon valley inspired company celebrating their relationships with nations that are notorious for casting systems. This does not belong in the u.s This company has most likely contributed to the destabilization of workng people in america. If you are a company considering to use them for bacground checks please look else ware. This company goes about it the wrong way and they do not even have the intelligence to notice they told on themselves on their website.
