Apparently missing one single period when entering in the name of a previous employer was enough to cause weeks and weeks of trouble. Contacting them was next to useless, and I nearly lost my potential job because of how slow and unreliable they were when it came to verifying information. Even after providing literally every document I had regarding that job I had, the fact that a single period was apparently such a bad thing that they had to waste days of our time. Employers, PLEASE don't use this.

I basically provided EVERYTHING they needed to do my background check. When they needed more information, they didn’t even email me to say that. I just happen to signin and check the status. Information that could have been found online with the board of nursing, they asked me to provide. When I called customer service, I used the prompt that would give you a call back… no one called me back. This company is a joke. I should’ve been paid because I did most of the work. Tell your employers how bad of an experience it was using HireRight, hopefully with enough feedback they’ll start using a more reliable company.

Our company basically handles the majority of VOEs (verification of employment) on our own even though we pay HireRight to do it. Their offshore reps do not have basic English proficiency to understand the nuance around different employment arrangements. They're looking for yes/no answers and dates. Beyond that, they lack the communication skills to comprehend the basic US employment arrangements. One rep actually called several people at our company to verify whether a new hire--who hadn't yet started--had previously worked for our company. What!? I tried to explain - why are you calling us? We are the REQUESTOR of the background check, NOT a prior employer. He didn't understand, and kept calling all of us back every morning at 5am, 6am, 7am local time. There's just no critical thinking happening with their reps whatsoever.

Can I do negative stars? they have absolutely no idea what they are doing. 3 weeks after, they got my application, and 3 calls to their customer service, they have no idea, what to do.. Why is it not verified, no answer. Can you expedite it, no not until 15 business days. This is when all of my information is Local Canadian. I wonder what they do to people with international education and work ex.. Employers please please please stop using them..

Worst experience ever. I actually considered not working for the company who engaged them because of this experience. It took them over 5 weeks to complete a background check. They did not read anything I sent, and wanted everything handed to them on a platter. I don't know how much the company I will be working for is paying them, but it's too much. AVOID!

Unsolicited email received. had dodgy-looking pdf attached. unfriendly impersonal language in email. poorly formatted form to fill out. Very poor

If client organisations knew how bad HireRight were, they would not allow Hireright to be involved in screening their prospective employees. Hireright treat candidates going through screening in a disdainful manner. They think it is acceptable to not reply to emails from candidates and to ignore them. If I was to describe Hireright in one word, it’ll be “inept” as they’ve made a mess of my case and caused a delay. Client companies who've signed up to Hireright have likely not done their due diligence and have likely been sold a really bum deal into which they are locked in for years. This is why companies use them. What the reviewer below mentions about the live-chat and their portal are true. If your new employer will be screening you using Hireright, please have an option B ready!

So horrible I was left crying multiple times. Been on the at least 15 calls where they say it will take a few days to do everything. It’s been 2 weeks and absolutely nothing has been done in my background check and I’ve had to push back the start date of the new job. Thank god I didn’t give notice to my current employer as I knew this bc company is trash but this is next level. The can’t actually verify anything, I’ve had to give proof of everything since they aren’t doing anything on their end. So why is any company using them? Honestly I’m really rethinking if I want to work for a company that would hire hireright because suckright is useless!!!!
