Never have I experienced a more convoluted, frustrating, and difficult background check. First time I have ever been personally responsible for providing information for a background check other than my name, SSN, and other basic personal information. Honestly, if I ever get a job offer from somewhere in the future that requires me to go through HireRight, I will more than likely pass on the job due to my unwillingness to be subjected to this ridiculous process again.

I just got hired on Jan 24, 2023 and the background check with hireright , still to this day isn’t even completed yet , it is now February 8,2023 , it’s still hanging at 92 percent, I had to push my February 6 start date , to March 6 th , so iam pretty upset that this is taking way too long and I also was reading they go back 7 years or 10 years , it takes them 3-4 days to get results and that also is a lie from what I read online, of all the other places I’ve worked at went through the background process it never took that long and that was for supervisor positions with these other companies.i don’t recommend hireright and not only that there was a class action suit against hireright in 2011 and they to pay out to the victims.

I'm uncertain what hiring companies are paying HireRight for, but it's certainly not to do background checks. Every step of the process was nothing more than the company reaching out to me stating something along the lines of "We have reached out to blank but could not verify information please send us..." W2s, diplomas, and other information was sent and they continually asked for me to do more of the job I assumed they were being paid for. The absolute worse experience I ever had with a background check, and this company was obviously being paid for by the hiring company to simply have me do all the work. An experience so bad, so poorly executed, I ended up not taking the offer because of mismanagement of HireRight. The way it was handled by HireRight made them look poorly, and the company that wished to hire me as well.

I have to say I was worried when I read the reviews on here regarding HireRight as I have just accepted a role with Barclays. The process was very smooth, yes they requested information from me as i've been self employed for the past 12 years but I supplied what was asked for and within a couple of days I passed the screening process. I found that using the live help facility was more useful than speaking to someone on the phone. Don't let these reviews put you off.

PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY for job verfications. They don't know what they are doing and they jeopardize people's job. They constantly make mistakes, you can barely hear them when you call them (not sure what's that about), they say your account is "expedited" yet your account will still be sitting in the same place. Terrible experience with this company.

I have had to provide every bit of information regarding my background check. This company was so incompetent that they could not even verify my college degree on their own; for a company based in Tennessee they were unable to verify my degree which came from the largest public university in the state. I had to provide all my W-2's and even make the connection for them that sometimes the company on the W-2 is simply a parent business. They would give me extremely vague notifications that they could not continue with the process until additional information was provided-- like what information? another W-2? Dates down to the day? a pay slip? the notifications were extremely vague. When i would try to contact them for details i would wait on hold for an hour plus if i called, only to be hung up on as soon as someone answered. If i used the live chat feature sometimes i would wait MULTIPLE hours. One experience i was connected to a person via live chat and they started giving me someone elses personal information, they would mention things that had nothing to do with me and leave me more confused from when i started. If i have to provide every bit of information to them, what exactly are they verifying?

They are frustrating when you are on the receiving end of a call. The message they leave is always impossible to understand, the extension never works and today I got routed to a voice mail box for a company that was not HireRight. I require any request for verification come in writing and when I have gotten thru to ask for this, they never send anything. So out of the probably four times they have contacted my company, I have never once provided verification data. Everything about them comes across as sketchy.

They are totally scam, they don't even know what they are doing, they are trying to be extra smart and asking or irrelevant information and also they are not even calling on the numbers on the numbers which consultant providing.
