I was in terrible foot pain and told orthotics would fix things....
My left foot was in so much pain I could hardly walk! A loved one said "you need a shoe with better support. Maybe a good sneaker will help. I went on the hunt for a pair of good support sneakers which brought me into the Good Feet Store. What did I bag? $2000 worth of orthotics and a pair of good support sneakers. Why? Because I was in pain, desperate to have relief, and was told by a Good Feet Specialist that my pain was related to my lack of arch support. What did I know? I'm not a foot gal... I just walk on 'em and dress them up in pretty shoes! Well those orthoics didn't help to reduce my foot pain. I made an appointment with my GP and then the podiatrist after not getting any relief. After seeing my podiatrist I learned that what I have wrong with my foot wouldn't be helped by those $2000 orthotics but the shoes I bought were good and he could recommend a couple of brands that make good support flip-flops (my favorite shoe on earth) that I could get for less than $100. As long as I don't go around barefoot, I'll be good to go for about 1/10th of the price of the orthotics. I thought, well I'm within the first 30 days - I'll just get a refund; it isn't like these orthotics were designed for my feet. And this is the last piece of why I'm writing this review; not because The Good Feet Store is an inherently evil store; they're just not exactly on the up and up either. I don't know about you but when I'm in pain and the promise of relief is on my foot so to speak, I'm not listening well. Again, my own fault. But here's their return policy: Within the 1st 30 days you can return the orthotics.... for store credit or exchange only. Store credit only on $2000 worth of merchandise that isn't even custom? I must have really been in pain that day because if I hadn't been, I doubt there's any way this sale would have been made but no matter, store credit only on my $2k - that's still quite a racket. What I spent is entirely my own fault - I was in pain and looking for an immediate solution, hoping it was just poor support shoes I'd been wearing. My bad. But The Good Feet Store distinctly remind me of snake oil salesmen. Knowing the product won't help, they sell it to you anyway.. I hope to share with you things I learned the hard way: I went to my podiatrist and he wasn't surprised at what happened at The Good Feet Store. He said "you're in pain and they do their razzle/dazzle and bam! you've bought $2000 worth of orthotics that aren't even custom to your feet." 1) the Good Feet Store implies the arch supports are personalized to your foot but in reality they are not. There are apparently a set number of "arch styles" if you will. They pick the one closest to your foot and voila! box is brought out of the back - personalized to your foot but customized and personalized are not necessarily the same thing. And I think they know that... 2) DO NOT GO when you are experiencing foot pain. You will make foolish decisions just to stop the pain. And buying at this store when one is in pain can be a very foolish decision, financially speaking. 3) If you really want to purchase these orthotics, see your podiatrist BEFORE you purchase anything from the Good Feet Store so at least you know you really need these particular orthotics and your money will be well spent. While I can't get back my own $2k, hopefully this review helps someone else keep theirs so now I can sleep at night because surely something good came out of this unpleasant experience....
