I opened an account and about one month later Basic Talk opened another account using a different number (not my number) without my permission and began charging the payments to my credit card, the same card I used for my own account. When I discovered what they had done they denied it and refused to reimburse me!

They start with 9.99 but with the taxes and additional fees will end upto 13.00. Then they started charging 911 which as part of the deal vs magic jack is free. Then now the kick it up again. I choose them because they promise they have customer service but they never say its is some rude Indian guys who lies to yo. They promise I can transfer my njmber for 30 days but yhe loophole is they complicate everything...No customer service at all. Never will I take this service nor recommned it at all

If you cancelled your service watch your bank because they well change you 2 months later

I'm having a very similar problem to many of the other people who have left reviews. I've been trying to cancel my account but just keep getting "thank you for choosing to continue service" emails - even after being ASSURED that the account has been canceled. That's just straight up dishonest. I'm not sure what to do in this situation, except if they end up charging me again contacting my credit card company and disputing the charges as fraudulent. They just absolutely refuse to cancel the account.

I called on 9/4/18 to cancel my service with Basic Talk to be effective 9/22/18. The customer service rep even repeated the cancellation date to me. Much to my surprise on 9/5/18 when I went to place a phone call, I found that my service had already been cancelled some 17 days before my cancellation was to be cancelled. When I went on-line I had an email from them saying my service was cancelled on 9/4???? Thank God I had a cell phone or I would have been s..t out of luck with no phone at the age of 71 with many severe health problems. I had been with Basic Talk for 4 years, and the rep tried to get me to keep the service, but I told her I was moving in with my son and did not need Basic Talk anymore as he has all the phone services in his name. I guess they got mad because I was not transferring my service and decided to cancel my service right then and there. I have never had this happen before when cancelling services of any kind which tells me that Basic Talk does not care about their customers at all -- only the bottom line. I would never recommend this company to anyone given the fact they decided to cancel my service 17 days before actual cancellation date. BE WARE

If you try to cancel your plan, be careful. They will tell you you're all set and they are sorry to see you go and then they will email you a letter thanking you for continuing your service with them and the charges will continue to be applied to your credit card. If you happen not to notice the charges, they will state that they have a policy of not offering refunds. This company is scamming its customers.

I have had Basic Talk for about 4 years at first they were very good, but for the last six months iv'e had nothing but trouble and i can't get anything done about the problem, so i'm going back to magic jack.I refuse to do business with a company that is almost impossible to deal with.My suggestion is don't even deal with them!!!!.

I cancelled the service 3 months ago, and they said it would be cancelled immediately. But they've continued to debit my checking acct for the monthly charge. Fraudulent business.
