Service is terrible, dropped calls, no customer support - only email and you wait DAYS to maybe get an answer. Usually any issue is just ignored. BTW, there is no BasicTalk its ALL Vonage. If you complain, someone from Vonage will be calling (from India) and they won't recognize your phone number because they won't have you listed under Vonage. So, its a circle jerk of nonsense. They never address your issues, just ignore and will turn off your service for non payment of a few days even though they won't fix the calling issues. And, as I understand, make it very difficult to cancel your service on purpose. Get rid of this "service" as fast as you can, its a joke and no one cares.

The worse customer service ever! I canceled my account last month and they said I never canceled my phone number. They charged me $16.59 just yesterday and told me to call back on Monday because it’s a Sunday and the representative can’t do anything. I called twice because the first time it just hangs up like always. They told me they will cancel my account and refund me the money. They didn’t tell me that they can only refund me $16. She just told me I’ll refund your money. I would have let that go but I’m thinking to myself why when I should be refunded the whole amount. I call back then she proceeds to tell me I didn’t call last month. I was so livid. How many people do they screw over? Every customer that they get $.50 or $.60 out of is not good customer service. I tell her my card info is still on the account even though it’s disconnected and she tells me you can call your bank. If I knew that this company was like this I would never switched. I was a loyal customer for 5 years. Never again!

Number was hacked, and basic talk acted if I was the guilty party, shutting off my phone without letting me know. Suspending my account, not returning phone calls, charging me for service that I do not have. Cannot cancel because no one wants to take responsibility to handle this problem, every one is pointing to the other dept. I am stuck in the middle.

| Technically, it works, and as the name implies it's BASIC service. Except for Caller ID, and Call waiting, you get NOTHING more. Call Forwarding should be BASIC! PRICE is where it gets very deceptive! It's pushed as $10/month. That's a lie! I'm paying $15/month! Besides actual REAL taxes, they make up several charges and attempt to bamboozle you into believing they are Federal taxes. There are now "virtual" services which makes Basic Talk obsolete. By the way, BASIC TALK is a dumbed down version of VONAGE, which owns it.

Exactly what many others have said. I rarely used the line. Tried to cancel online. Not an option. Called the cancellation number. Waited almost 12 minutes with elevator music and recordings thanking me for my ‘brief hold.’ No one ever answered. Tried again. Same situation. I sent them an email. They responded by telling me to calm the cancellation #. Did. No response. Same game - different day. It has already cost me about $250 for a service I stopped using a year ago, plus time and frustration. In desperation, I finally called my bank and put a stop payment on their withdrawals on my debit card and contested any further charges. If necessary, I will cancel my bank account altogether and open s new one to stop the insanity. It’s not an accident. This is clearly their business model, based upon the many reviews of similar issues. It’s a scam. Buyer beware. You are forwarded. Avoid this company like the plague.

Basic talk doesn't cancel when you call. They send you through a bunch of hoops and then agree to cancel. The following month you get charged again. When you call they tell you the account is still active. Watch them, because they will rip you off.

I LOVE their service. I used it in the past (many years ago). I receny relocated and needed a land line. Luckily I found the box (I don't throw away anything) and reactivated service. It's inexpensive, you are able to change your number quickly without a charge and now they included hold music.

Tried to change my billing date online using their 'chat' feature. Numerous attempts and it didn't work. I then tried using their online email to have them change my billing date. Numerous attempts and that didn't work. Tried using a phone number through Google search and received automated response that the number dialed was only for setting up a NEW account. No way to contact these people if you have a problem or need to make a change in you account. Customer service is truly NONEXISTENT!! The actual product and VoIP service is VERY GOOD but customer service isn't there!
