I am so sad about the quality of both Alaska and Hawaiian airlines. Both used to be great airlines. Hawaiian in particular was known for great customer service and reasonable prices on inter island flights. I was born and raised in Hawaii and have been flying Hawaiian for many years. I also have many friends and family members who used to work for Hawaiian. Unfortunately, after the buyout by Alaska everything has changed. Customer service is essentially nonexistent. Flight prices are now ridiculously expensive. I understand that things are becoming more expensive but it seems like Alaskan airlines is just super greedy now. I booked an interisland flight for 3 from Kauai to Oahu round trip, it cost over $300 per person and then I had to pay another $100+ dollars just to pick a seat! That’s ridiculous cost just to fly 20 mins. On top of that I tried to change my flight to a later time and was told I can’t because those were the “saver” prices. How the heck is a near $500 round trip ticket to fly to Oahu a “saver” price? I pay that much to fly round trip to California. Do yourself a favor and fly southwest. Way cheaper and sadly much better customer service. I hate what the merger has done to my previous favorite airline but Alaska has totally turned Hawaiian airlines into a joke.

I have never been so disappointed with Alaska Airlines. We booked three Premium Class seats months in advance and paid approximately $450 extra specifically because we were traveling with two small children, including a lap infant. When we checked in, we discovered that Alaska had moved us from row 15 Premium Class to row 32, literally the back of the plane, without notifying us. After spending a significant amount of time on the phone trying to understand what happened, we were told there had been an aircraft change and our original seats were now considered an exit row, which we could not occupy with a lap infant. I completely understand the safety requirement. What I do NOT understand is why we weren’t moved to another Premium Class row. We had already paid for Premium seating. Instead, other passengers were seated in Premium while our family was sent to the back of the plane. We were told that Alaska only guarantees a seat, not a specific seat. But we didn’t pay an additional $450 for three specific seat numbers. We paid $450 for Premium Class. What makes this even worse is that Alaska did not automatically refund the $450 after downgrading us. We only received our money back because we noticed the seat change ourselves, called, complained, and requested the refund. Traveling with two small children is already stressful. We planned months ahead and paid significantly more specifically to make the flight more manageable. Finding out at check in that those plans meant essentially nothing was incredibly frustrating. An aircraft change may explain why we couldn’t keep our original seats. It does not explain why Alaska couldn’t protect the Premium Class product we had already purchased, why we were moved all the way to the last row, why we weren’t notified, or why our money wasn’t automatically refunded. This experience completely changed the way I view Alaska Airlines and how much trust I can put in an advance seat purchase

Alle Vorurteile einer Billig Fluglinie bestätigt. Bewusst sehr unklar vorher beschrieben, dass Gepäck nur mit einer Alaska Kreditkarte mitgenommen werden darf. Obwohl dann vier Gepäckstücke sehr wenig gewogen haben, musste das 5 Gepäckstück bei unserer Familie wegen 1kg umgepackt werden, sonst hätte man zusätzlich 100$ extra bezahlen müssen. Flug hatte kurzfristig eine Stunde Verspätung und es musste der Terminal gewechselt werden. Flug war überbucht und es gab Schwierigkeiten mit dem Handgepäck. Fazit: dies ist eine Billigfluglinie und versucht grenzwertig alles rausziehen

Purchases 3 tickets for the family and one of the passengers were not able to make the flight. Was not able to get a refund by their rules. That’s fine but when I got on the flight they resold the other ticket so instead of having a spare seat they resold the ticket. Won’t be flying Alaska airlines anymore.

I was traveling with my family and I spent extra for the seats so we could all sit together. In this particular aircraft, for some reason, the seats were offset and so we were not right by each other and I asked the flight attendant what we could do so my child was not on an aisle seat not with the rest of us. The flight attendant was very flippant and said that it didn't matter and that I should relax. Or that I could ask the OTHER family to switch. No solutions, no compassion, even though we paid extra and it is their website design that created the problem. I emailed customer service to hopefully show them an error in their planning for families and maybe get an apology. I did not ask for a refund. I was told that I was not due a refund and the case was being closed. That was it. The customer service on the plane, in the office, everywhere is awful and I will not be flying them again. It is worth paying more for a company that is not awful.

Wir (Gruppe von 6 Personen) wollten von Hilo über Honolulu nach San Diego. Da der Flug in Hilo berrits stark verspätet ankam, haben wir den Anschlussflug in Honolulu verpasst. Alaska konnte uns auf keinen der nächsten Flüge umbuchen. Dabei gehen sie ausschließlich über ihre eigene Alliance. Flüge anderer Anbieter (waren einige vorhanden) werden nicht als Ausweichmöglichkeit akzeptiert. Stattdessen wurden wir für den Folgetag über Las Vegas nach San Diego gebucht. Für die Zeit dazwischen für die Verspätung erhält man pro Person einen Essensgutschein von 12 $. Wenig hilfreich, wenn allein ein Sandwich zwischen 10-18 $ kostet... Dann gibt es einen Lyft-Gutschein zum und vom Hotel. ABER nur einen Gutschein für einee Fahrt bis max. XL-Autos. Das reicht aber nicht für 6 Personen + Gepäck. Also mussten wir einen Wagen zubuchen. Die Dtristigkeit war allerdings, dass wir uns mit 6 Personen ein Zweibettzimmer (2 x Queensize) teilen mussten, da man nur 1 Zimmer erhält. Die Customer Hotline von Alaska war nicht erreichbar und da man weder zurück ins Flughafengebäude kam, noch Mitarbeiter um kurz vor Mitternacht dort waren, war dies eine abgrundtief schlechte Erfahrung. Alaska bietet zudem maximal eine Entschädigung von 100 $ als Gutschein für nächste Buchung mit Ihnen an...

One person at check in. Finally a second person arrives. Huge roller bags and back packs being crammed into overhead bins. Numerous customers with roller bags plus huge back backs and huge purse. WTF.
