Thankyou for coming back to us. However as we are based in the UK and not planning a return North America anytime soon we won’t be able to use them. I trust Susan will arrange for funds to be transferred and I look forward to updating this platform at that point with a 5 star rating. Things go wrong, it is how a company reacts that makes defines that company! Ref ends 7223

I travel with Alaska because of…
I travel with Alaska because of location and I am the highest loyalty tier they have of over 150,000 actual miles a year and have been a member since 1986.
Overall, I do love the airlines, but they have lost their loyalty to their loyal customers. They have made it hard to reach and maintain tiers, but the worst part is that even with their highest tier, the benefits are poor compared to the past. Particularly that they sell their first class seats until time of flight and have no regard for their most loyal customers. In the past, they would upgrade you days before the flight, but now it is just about the money.

they should do better
I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with a recent travel experience on Alaska Airlines and to request appropriate compensation. My name is [Your Full Name], and I was booked on flight AA122 from Seattle to DC. Due to maintenance issues with the aircraft, the flight was delayed significantly, resulting in an overnight stay at a hotel near the airport.
While I fully understand and appreciate the priority placed on safety, which necessitated the maintenance checks, the disruption was nonetheless caused by factors within the airline's control. Your team was helpful in rebooking me on the next available flight, for which I am grateful. However, no vouchers or reimbursements were provided for the hotel accommodation, meals, or incidental expenses incurred during the unexpected layover. Based on my understanding of standard airline policies, such as those outlined in the Department of Transportation guidelines for involuntary delays due to mechanical issues, passengers are typically entitled to compensation in these situations to mitigate the inconvenience.
This experience has left me frustrated, as it not only disrupted my travel plans but also resulted in additional out-of-pocket costs. I have been a loyal Alaska Airlines customer for 4 years, and I believe this warrants a review for fair resolution. I kindly request a refund or voucher equivalent to the expenses I incurred, approximately $582 for hotel and meals.

Seat selection does not disclose non-reclining seats
We paid a higher fare (upgrading from Saver to Main rate category) on a recent round trip from DC to Honolulu to ensure that three of us traveling together would get seats next to each other. We selected a row (row 15) in front of the exit row, not knowing that those seats do not recline. Nothing on the website states that those are non-reclining seats. It was a long and very physically uncomfortable overnight flight on the return without reclining seats and a very tight space in that row. Alaska Airlines would not reimburse us the extra cost we paid for the ability to select our seats even though they did not disclose that the row we selected has seats that do not recline. This should be disclosed.

Flights were ok; we felt a little cheated by the booking system.
My daughter and I booked to fly from San Diego to Seattle for a couple of nights around Christmas. When selecting our seats, the only online availability we were offered was 2 seats, one behind the other in the middle of rows alongside the loos.
So I bit the bullet and paid considerably more (probably 4 times as much) to travel in First Class. The short flights themselves were fine, but on both of them I had a stroll through the economy cabin and was surprised to see them only half-full. I’m not a frequent flyer, have no status with Alaska, so I guess my IP address from the UK was recognised by the booking system, and for adjoining seats I was given no option other than First class.

Good food. But you may go hungry.
My only complaint is that they seem to run out of food. We were on a 6 hour flight. I was really looking forward to my meal. And there wasn’t enough for me. This happened on our next 2 flights as well!!
