First took my wife to med clinic problems with insurance. Needed to see her pcp and the one on insurance not only was out of network but also no longer practicing. Changed doctors 3 weeks later no changes can't see a pop. Found one in network my wife saw him. A follow up and insurance says he no longer accepts the insurance call the doctor says that they accept . This back and forth with insurance has gotten us no where I'd card with original doctor still on there. No update call insurance again and back to square one . Wife needs surgery very bad . So not a good insurance worst we ever had . Bad bad bad bad bad bad

I just switched to Aetna advantage. First the doctor that is my GP is listed on their sight as in network, his name is printed on my card, they processed the claim as out of network. I had to call twice to get that changed, I emailed them once with pictures of their listing and my card. Still is being worked on, in the meantime the drs office wants me to pay. They denied a prescription and said to get a preauth. Now most companies send the forms to the drs, that did not happen, after a week I called Aetna and they could not see it in process, I called the dr and they did not have it. When I called back they gave ME a link to Download and take to my dr, apparently that is my job to do. It will prob be denied but in the meantime I am out of pills, it has been three weeks now. Then we get to go through the process with a new prescription. Oh Joy.

Had BCBS for years but thought we could save money by switching to Aetna. What a mistake. Worst medical insurance I have ever had in 30 years. Needed an Urgent care for my son. Checked online for the closest In-Network Urgent care centers. Thank god we called as the location was permanently closed. Only found that out after looking at google maps. No other close options were given for my address. Called the 888 number for Aetna and had to listen to 5 minutes of crap to get someone on the line. They did not know it was closed but gave me one that was not even listed and was closer. Wouldn't you think ACCURATE Urgent care information would be important on your web site. They also denied a claim I had after the doctors office told me they accepted the insurance. The Doctors office accepted Aetna, Just not the Aetna plan I have. Cost me $771 dollars. Cant wait to leave this company when I can choose plans again. Research Aetna before you give them your money. They have been sued for excessive denials in the past and have not changed their ways. Even if your primary is in network you will spend hours trying to find specialists that are in network and close to where you live. We also found Doctors offices that accepted our Aetna plan, but the doctors within that office we wanted to see did not. You must ask everyone you see if they accept the exact plan you have - you cannot just ask if they accept Aetna. My daughter was going to college in Greenville NC and the closest primary doctor was 30 miles away, no General practitioner or OB/GYN. My daughter also had an Urgent Care listed in Greenville that was listed online but was actually permanently closed. This is all within the first 6 months of having Aetna. I put my families wellbeing and our savings in jeopardy to try and save a few dollars. I worry constantly that we may have any emergency before we can get off of this insurance plan.

I have spent 7 months trying to get a claim resolved. I call every month get a different story. I did, however, find out my State has an insurance commission that will stepin and fight for you. So that is where I am headed.

Would give a zero if I could. Told us a procedure was covered and because the facility didn't take any insurance, to pay the personal price out of pocket and file with Aetna for reimbursement. Have been wrangling with them for 8 months to get them to reimburse, but each time they have a new excuse as to what I need to provide or how much time before I can expect a new review/answer. Customer service people are nice and apologetic, and then the document/claim people stall, or say that they will contact us after review and then I get a new ask, each of which is narrower and never been requested before. I've easily spent 30 hours either getting what they need, sending messages, or on with customer support, none of whom are aware of the last time I called or the background to the situation. If they were interested in honoring the language of their coverage, I would have been reimbursed six months ago. Criminal that insurance companies can shirk their obligations through ignoring and delay, ignoring and delay, hiding behind a long list of evolving info requirements, hoping that you just give up. Next step is a formal complaint with the state agency.

This insurance company are frauds. I have them through my employer. They made up a false story that I already have insurance and there isn't a need to pay my claims. I am hiring legal council. They take your money and will not pay any claims

Fairly new to Aetna and it’s been awful. Not covering ultrasounds that I need to prevent breast cancer, they consider them unnecessary. I’ve had a partial lumpectomy and I’m being watched by my surgeon so that findings can be caught early so I’m sorry, but if my breast doctor says they’re necessary, then they are necessary. I also have a genetic disease which causes me to have arterial venous malformations (AVM’s) in my lungs and brain. They are refusing to cover a CT scan of my lungs, which is also preventative. The AVM’s in my lungs and brain need to be looked at every 2 to 5 years to make sure that they are not causing any trouble. Again this is preventative and potentially life-saving, but they will not cover the scans. I am on my second appeal attempt now for my overdue, five-year lungCT AND I owe my breast Doctor over $600 for the last ultrasound that Aetna refused to cover. So basically, the way I view it is, they bully you into quitting on your preventative care to avoid debt and don’t mind if a few years down the line, you get cancer, or drop dead of a brain AVM rupture… Nice!
