An ongoing disappointment
Our initial interaction with Blue Raven/Sun Power was great. They came onsite quickly. Answered our questions, explained the timeline and process. All good. We signed a contract on Set.29, 2025 with the assurance that our system would meet the deadline for the 30% Federal Tax Cut. We made our down payment October 7. On December 11, we received an email that all permits were signed and we could schedule installation. The number I called was not accepting calls. Eventually, installation was scheduled for December 29. No one showed up. On December 30 the crew arrived and panels were installed. Back to waiting for inspections. In January, I called the installation company to see where we were in the process; first I called our sales guy, who never returned our calls, then I called the local office and she hung up on me when I asked for more information about why this was so different from the promised timeframe. On January 26 and February 2, we received notifications that there would be crew members on site to take photos and finish installation of the still non-operational system. On February 9, I got a text there'd be another inspection, then a text saying never mind, the permits were all cleared. Also on February 9, I got an invoice and text that an invoice dated February 5 but received on February 9th was due that day. On February 10, I got an email from our electric comp company that they were working on getting our system energized and we should work with our installation company to insure they've scheduled it. It is February 14 and still no solar power or date for it to be operational. But they have sent me the final invoice again with a text saying they want the money now. Really poor experience overall.
Response from SunPower, Inc.Feb 19, 2026
Hi Catherine, thank you for the feedback. We sincerely apologize for the frustration this process has caused. We understand how disappointing it is to feel like timelines shifted and communication fell short. Based on our records, your system has completed installation and inspection, and we submitted all required documentation to your utility on February 9. We are currently awaiting Permission to Operate (PTO), which is estimated around February 26. Unfortunately, once everything has been submitted, the final approval timeline is determined by the utility company, and we are not able to energize the system until that authorization is granted. We also understand your concern regarding invoicing while you are still waiting for PTO. We are reviewing your account internally to ensure everything aligns properly with your project status and will share your feedback with the appropriate teams so we can improve communication moving forward. We truly appreciate your patience during this final stage. If you would like a direct status update or have additional questions, please reach out to us and we’ll be happy to assist at [email protected]. - Katie G.
