Randy Greenfield will tell you whatever it takes to get you to use United healthcare. My mother needs medication daily and she has been diagnosed with dementia and United healthcare wants her to do all the legwork. I’m getting ready to take her to the ER. Don’t fall for this scam.

Bait-and-switch scam
I signed up for Medicare Part D with these people during open enrollment October 2023. On January 1st after open enrollment ended, they immediately doubled my premium, and I was stuck until October 2024 when open enrollment comes around again. Classic bait-and-seitch scam. Do NOT engage with this dishonorable company. They shamefully take advantage of seniors and should be shunned.

7 Hours On The Phone With Customer Service
I received new cards for last year’s policy, that should have ended on Dec 31. Got online and noticed on my healthcare portal that my plan from last year was still active. I called the number on the back of my card was directed to a call center in Central Asia. I spent 1-1/2 hours on the phone with the associate the last 20 minutes on hold before I finally hung up for the night. Was told there is nothing that can be done about my account over the phone. Was directed to federal marketplace, my states marketplace, tele sales, and passed off from department to department several times.
Received an email saying my account is $873.62 past due. Back on the phone the next morning, passed from department to department, different marketplaces. Associates would not listen to my questions or concerns. Kept being told my account cannot be closed over the phone, and my balance is over due. Spent another 3-1/2 hours on the phone with no results.
Went into a local office who’s name is on my insurance card, but apparently they don’t cover me. Spent another 1-3/4 hours at the office on the phone with United Healthcare being transferred between departments and agencies. Finally they said I was not overdue on my balance, that my account was canceled, and I would receive written correspondence of account status, balance, and coverage dates through Dec 31. Asked about the outstanding balance currently and they said I still owe $436.67. After another 20 minutes of back and forth they agreed not to charge me for a canceled account.
It took almost 7 hours to get everything straightened out. This company is horrible, if you can use another insurer I highly recommended it.

Worst time calling
Some of the time I could not understand the person (Jasper) I talked to because of his accent in speaking English. When he connected me to the place to question my bill he was no longer on the line so I couldn't leave a survey. When I called back to request taking the survey I was never connected to it. This is the worst time I've had talking to United Health Care.

Very bad health insurance company
I am a student in Florida and have had health insurance with UnitedHealth care for the three academic years, since I started the college. During summer and winter breaks I visit my parents in Europe and have had several medical issues thus I had to see doctors, conduct tests, etc. Besides Covid test fees, the insurance has not paid anything at all. There is a system in place where you can send a complain, ask a question and most of the time you do not get a response. I conducted several thyroid visits/tests and got medication last August and so far, they have denied all. Same for the previous years. Again, no matter you submit a complain, you would not get a response. If it was not a single case, then I would not bother to write a review; however, it has been going on for the last three years. My sister is studying in Illinois and has Aetna, never had an issue. Jurgen

Nightmare customer service
As I write this, I have been on the phone close to 2 HOURS trying to resolve a simple issue: one of the items I ordered through the Over The Counter (OTC) benefits is missing. Two hours of being transferred from person to person. I verified my coverage again and again. I gave them the order number, item number, order date. Again and again. I even started the conversation by asking if I was speaking to the person who could help me or do I need to speak with someone else? 'Yes Miss, I can help you.' Then on hold again, and again, to finally be told that they are transferring me to someone that can help me. And the process repeats endlessly until you can get someone that understands what you are saying, knows how to help you and then does so. After 2 hours and 3 minutes, my issue was resolved!! Absolutely the worst customer service reps I have ever encountered. It's a hard job; I used to do it. But at least I could resolve an issue in several minutes. I would have been fired if I took this long to resolve an issue. United Healthcare insurance is fine. But their customer service is a nightmare.
