Convenient service but shady business model updates recently

I love the convenience of getting birth control delivered straight to my mailbox—it’s a great service. However, I’ve recently encountered some frustrations with changes the company has made. They now automatically enroll users in the $12.99 monthly Standard plan, an ‘upgrade’ from the $0/month Basic plan. This is problematic because they don’t make it clear that you can downgrade to the Basic plan by contacting customer service. Many users unknowingly pay the $12.99 fee, assuming it’s the only option, as this information is buried in the Q&A section of their website and not included in email communications. This lack of transparency feels misaligned with their mission to make birth control more accessible. By causing unnecessary expenses for users, the company undermines the trust of their customer base. I voiced my concerns to my customer service representative, Marilu and luckily she was super helpful, friendly and open to hearing me out. I hope they address this issue to better serve their mission and their customers.

Transparency is very important to us, especially when it comes to the costs associated with our service, so I truly apologize for any miscommunication or disappointment. When our monthly subscription plans were initially introduced in April/May 2024, we prioritized sending email notifications in advance which included the opportunity to opt out and move to our Basic Care Plan at $0/month. We're proud to provide this $0/month option to further our mission of making reproductive and sexual healthcare affordable and accessible for all! While our Care Team is available at anytime to adjust your monthly subscription, we appreciate you noting this could be better emphasized in email our communications. I'm glad to let you know that in response to similar feedback, we're already working on an update that will make it even easier to manage your monthly subscription straight from your dashboard!
