Called to get some information/quote on adding another car and insuring my son in the future and the customer service rep/agent changed my policy and 3xed my previous rate without my consent and lied about the reason it was "legally" required. Now i have to wait to receive a form in the mail to fill it out and send back to reverse their mistake. A one star is really to generous for the experience I've had with them and if I could I would give a negative numer of stars in the thousands.

Website user experience is garbage. Not only do you need a password, which is obvious, but they make you create a multi digit pin. And who remembers this? No one is logging into this dumb website more than once a year. And if you get it wrong, you are locked out — and there’s no one you can call it Hartford, they’re not working at that time. Thanks for crappy customer experience and wasting my time on unnecessary layers of security for a stupid insurance website, as if this was Fort Knox.

This company sucks! I will never do business again with them my husband has a claim with them and if he don’t cancel it I’m divorcing him! Not one person there knows what they are doing.

We have an ongoing claim for our roof and we have had The hardest time getting our claims representative to call or email us back. We have tried since May to get someone to email or call back and it seems like every time we talk to someone we just get the runaround and no final answers.

I wanted to contact Hartford about their TV commercials, but this was only input possible. Their usual driving salesman on television for car insurance drives me crazy because he is talking to passengers (and facing them away from the street traffic) as he drives. This is unsafe driving under all circumstances, one does not face one's passenger (away from road traffic) much of the time while he is driving. Good way to have an accident Hartford!!! s/Paul Banford

I am a 79-year-old woman who was recently robbed of all my fine, heirloom jewelry that was to be left to my nieces and daughter-in-law. This robbery occurred while I was in my home -- by my housekeeper. It approximates $12k+ in fine jewelry and a designer a handbag. Upon filing a claim with The Hartford, the insurer of the cleaning company I hired, I was told unless I had proof, like a photo, or video of the housekeeper taking the items the claim would be denied. How many people who sleep and undress in their bedrooms keep a video camera running in their bedrooms? I am disabled and chronically ill and do not have people over. No one had been into my home, much less my bedroom in many months if not a year. I had only just purchased one of the items for my daughter-in-law, to be a Christmas gift and had only recently looked at it when I placed it in a special place for storage. This cleaning lady stole it all in less than 5 minutes. I was in the house at the time, but hurting and barely able to move from my recliner...she knew this and took advantage. I am just grateful I wasn't able to be up and happen upon her in the midst of the robbery -- I could have been seriously hurt or killed had I caught her in the act! The Hartford claims person was rude, talked over me, probably using the talking points provided by Hartford. I could barely tell him about my experience. I asked him to call the Detective handling my case, but he refused. I am at the end of my life and care little about the monetary loss, it was the sentimental loss, unable to leave these pieces to my nieces that hurts the most. I am a Christian woman soon to meet my Maker....there is nothing in this world that would make me lie at this stage of my life. I was not treated kindly, shown no empathy. Thankfully, I am able to turn this whole mess over to God to make right. The thief will be made to answer for her actions one way or another. I have the peace that passes all Understanding thanks to my faith. I am an AARP member but I cannot recommend The Hartford because of my terrible experience.

The Hartford insurance company is very deceptive in their payments. Clearly you’re supposed to build the beginning of the month they send a bill whenever and then claim that that’s OK. That is not OK. We ought to do our billing. Furthermore, I canceled my insurance the day I canceled it they still sent me a bill and said I had to pay it because it was for the month before they bill in arrears. That’s also confusing and then when you speak to them, I reached out to the CEO they talk to you like your child. It is the most unacceptable company I’ve ever dealt with. I would not refer anybody to it. .
