I have had the Hartford homeowners insurance for over 20 years. I’m tired of being ripped off and should have dropped them a long time ago. We pay almost $2000 a year for protection. We have been through hurricanes and a hale storm. I live in Virginia. The Hartford refuses to pay for any damages to the roof or the interior due to storm damage. So what do I need them for? They were endorsed by AARP so I thought they would be trustworthy. They are not. Any company can collect your money. But they don’t care about any damage done to your property. They are a complete rip-off. My advice. Keep looking. The Hartford will not help you.the date of experience was set by the computer. This is an ongoing experience over the many years I paid for coverage. It was not just one incident. Three claims filed over 20 years. Three claims denied. I feel like I’m just giving my money away.

This is a VERY CRAPPY insurance company. My mother was a Hartford customer for +25 years. She is now 88 years old and has had one other claim on her house in the +25 years. She had damage to her roof caused by hail & wind. Her contractor confirmed this and still they would not pay a dime and ended up cancelling her insurance because of a small previous repair to the roof. They are an awful company! NEVER BUY INSURANCE FROM HARTFORD! Please let all people know how terrible this company is!

We were in contact with an agent named Felicia if you get her for an agent request another one. WE filed a claim for a $7000 plumbing bill and after 3 months of wasted time and 45 emails the decision was made to not cover the bill. Why do we have The Hartford? Would I recommend them not on your life. I will be looking for another company that takes care of seniors and does not just take their money.

I went out for a colon cancer surgery and had part intestines removed and the first return to work date was July 5th but due to the type of surgery the doctors had got together a determined i needed more time for my inside to heal due to my job duties.... so they stop my payments on the 4th. my doctor has been filling out all paperwork and returning it but the hartford keep on delaying things as if they figure i should have been back at work and looking for a reason to deny the doctors request for more time off. it is now Aug 2 and all someone can say is they need more paper from doctors and still no pay

I was Blatantly lied to by the adjuster Jerry Ray about my claim on June 30, that they were sending “a starter check” to get the work started until they got the estimates in from the glass shop and body shop. Then I wasn’t able to contact him ever again by phone or voice mail. On June 29 I was told by another claims team member that they hadn’t received an estimate from the body shop, so the check they sent was only for the glass. Then on August 1 a completely different story by a different and very rude team member Judy that I’d been paid in full, that the check was for the glass and body work, and they weren’t paying any more. Then call from another rude team member duplicating what Judy said, while not answering my questions, but basically repeating over and over a scripted response. I DO NOT recommend The Hartford unless you want to get the run around and like being lied to.

I have nuerothopy and arthritis from past chemo treatments, i went out on disability due to my condition, i got on short term disability in that 6 month period they would pay me but sometime hold it for weeks and weeks saying they need more paperwork which became a problem. After short term i went on long term disability, which at this point they made everything difficult, from filling out numerous amounts of paperwork for the doctor and i, and requesting more medical records after sending the same ones months back. I was forced back to work, which i been missing work due to my disability, trying to get accomodated at work and still dealing with the hartford. They have not paid me for 5 months being out of work disabled, i am about to lose my house, my truck, behind on electricity bill and still disabled and broke. This company should be out of buisness of course after a big class action suit, this is ridiculous!

I had a massive heart attack in 2008 and was unable to return to work , my employer had the hartford as our long term disability insurance provider which at the time was a good thing , flash forward to 2020 I received a letter that for the most part I did not understand so I called them to get a better understanding of what it said , so in a nut shell I was told that they had made a miss calculation on my claim and had been under paying me for 10 years , now to me that's a mistake , a $100,000 mistake although they say miss calculation , now I don't know about other people but that's a lot of money especially when you have been struggling for years and find out that things could have been a lot better , now they did give me the money which helped me pay off some debt that had amassed over the years , but I still lost my home and my car and had to file bankruptcy plus I knew there would be taxes involved , so I kept out some money to pay them , now normally the taxes I pay on the money I get from them is just a few hundred dollars a year so imagine my surprise when I got hit with a $22,000 tax bill so needless to say I didn't keep out that much so now I owe the IRS , In hindsight maybe should have done more research but I feel that the Hartford needs to be held accountable for what happened , it was a mistake plain and simple and I had to pay for it , I lost everything and I'm not saying everything would have been perfect but I can assure you it would have been better .
