I signed up with Hartford insurance in July of 2022. My first renewal notice came and it had an increase of almost 28% in my rate. I have not had any accidents or traffic violations and did not change any coverages. I called and spoke to their representative. His only response was, "Well, rates go up over time." I believe Hartford insurance offers a reasonable rate so you sign up with them and then jacks up your rate significantly upon renewal. Beware of buying insurance from this company.

the worst car insurance experience I've had in 30 years. Be aware, they give you a discount and you have to use an app that will track all your car trips. If you don't get out of the house within 45 days, they increase your premium and start sending you emails saying your payments are overdue (even if you paid your premium in full). There is no customer service available for 24 hours. Pray that the worst (such as a car accident or a ticket) doesn't happen during the weekend. AARP did not do a good job selecting this car insurance company. The premium price is not beneficial when they take your discount without notifying you. It's the same as any other car insurance price.

Horrible customer service from a claims adjuster who was rude, condescending and just wanted to rush me off the phone. I also had WC and GL insurance for my business for over six years and when I contacted them to cancel the policy, they didn't process the cancellation. I had to call again, and they kept me on hold for a long time.

A gentleman rear-ended our car on 07/07/2022. Drivable but could not get into body shop until end of August. It took 30 days to complete work and shop complained to us about having to argue with Hartford Insurance regarding parts needed. Then we returned rental car. Hartford paid $600 which left $870 for us to pay out of pocket. Tried to call and e-mail claims processor Dorothy Faust. After no response for 20 days called complaint #. Bingo, got thru to Dorothy. She tells me I should go after the other insurance company myself. Great customer service. NOT !!!

I would not recommend this company to anyone. The adjuster who contacted us lived in another state. Our insurance is bundled - Homeowners/auto. During the Covid outbreak, agents began working out of the home. This became known to us when we paid our insurance for the year and the person taking the payment over the phone notified us that he took care of the auto portion, but the HO side was in the main office and it was closed. That person then promised to send the credit card payment over the next day when the office opened - that person never did. There was no notification that our HO was canceled, we received the new Policy like always, a few days later we had a housefire and immediately contacted Hartford who took our information and in less than a few hours informed us that our HO had been canceled due to nonpayment - did I mention we bundle? We nearly lost our minds then recalled that all phone transactions are recorded and demanded that an investigation take place as we had never received notification that we were late, much less had been removed from Hartford. Our auto policy was the same amount it had been in the past when bundled and we knew then that the person taking our payment for the entire upcoming year had failed to perform that service. We were reinstated but clearly, Hartford proved to be a company that advertises something it will not honor and the next battle was on.

I've been trying to get the Hartford to cover the damages that they're insured was responsible for under the claim number Pa0019516394. It's been over 6 weeks since I found the claim and they still haven't been able to reach their insured. This has so disappointing and destructive to my life.

Please train your representatives to be thorough. I have had the absolute worse experience dealing with this company. I have contacted you numerous times and it's always the same outcome. Clueless reps providing inaccurate information and mailing said information out. This is ridiculous.

I was with The Hartford for at least nine years for both home and auto insurance. My homeowners insurance premium went up by $300 recently which I could not afford so I switched to another insurance company taking my home and auto insurance needs with me. During this process, I received a bill from The Hartford for$85 for auto insurance from January to June. My premium was $61 month on autopsy and The Hartford is telling me it’s a “fee” they charge to process the cancellation from what I understand. I’ve had auto insurance for nearly 36 years with various carriers and I have NEVER come across an insurance company that charged me anything like this. I had insurance prior to canceling the auto and homeowners insurance with The Hartford and sent The Hartford my Dec pages proving this along with a letter TWICE now and today I received yet another bill in the mail with no response to my letters.I would NOT recommend The Hartford for any of your insurance needs as their customer service is virtually nonexistent. I don’t think a written response to my letters is too much to ask. They are no friend to the elderly and I feel AARP should not endorse them.
