Items delivered by hatchback car and were damaged
Tesco may as well team up with Fisher Price and create "My First Supermarket" because their 'service' is rapidly going downhill. On 25th April I ordered some heat logs and a bag of smokeless coal for a Holiday trip to a remote cottage in Scotland on Saturday 30th April, and with it being out of Winter Season the items were not available in my local Tesco store. I selected the 2 - 5 day delivery option at checkout, and needless to say it took them the full five days to get it to me, but that is fine because it did arrive on time (just) and was delivered on the Morning of the 30th, a few hours before I started the long drive to Scotland. The items (heavy) were delivered by two ladies in a hatchback car, no doubt the cheapskates at Tesco Direct are using a service like Hermes rather than their own vans, or a 'proper' carrier service like DHL or Fed Ex, however I had paid for a carrier delivery, not a pizza delivery service and I was not surprised given the method of transport, for the coal to turn up in a ripped bag with half of the contents missing. The delivery ladies were very apologetic but the item was damaged and had to be returned, and I was told it would be Tuesday before they could send a replacement. This is ludicrous, I was leaving for a Holiday, 400 miles away later that day, and needed to take the goods with me to use up there, but there was nothing they could do. So this is a company who can't even deliver something like a bag of Coal without damaging it, so it makes you wonder what state other, more delicate items would arrive in, and if they turn up broken don't expect Tesco Direct to resolve it in a timely manner. My advice, if you ever foolishly find yourself on the Tesco Direct website, then hit the back button and buy from a company who gives a damn. No doubt Tesco's plan to alienate its customers until the point where it has non of them left is almost complete.
