Stock prices unreliable
The tesco direct website as at 23/07/16 listed product 304-8730 'Golds Gym 5kg Weight' as being sold at a discounted price of £6.50 (normally £10). As this seemed like a reasonable offer I proceeded to use the 'Please Check Stock in your Local Store' function to verify that the product was in stock. After making a special trip to the nearest Superstore I found plenty of stock but being sold at £10. I asked an assistant to verify the price and showed her the online webpage. She checked at the tills and stated the correct price is £10, after which I thanked her and left the store empty handed. This has been a complete waste of petrol and time for me and I do not think this is a satisfactory shopping experience. Nowhere on the product page did it state that this was an online offer only, and having a 'check local stock' option gives the impression that the prices are good in store as well. Sent an email to Tesco and they phoned me back later in the day to say sorry but that's just the way it is. No offer of a goodwill gesture such as allowing me to purchase the goods in store at the offer price. I could of course use the 'click and collect' function but they even charge for that nowadays if the order value is under £30 (unlike most other stores).
