Psychiatry services sucks. Therapist good
I signed up for both therapy and psychiatry. I was completely misled that talkspace has actual psychiatrist, so after meeting with an aprn who treated me like a number for multiple sessions I was told I need to go to zocdoc to get a psychiatrist to assist with previously diagnosed ADHD. My intention on going on talkspace psychiatry was for services that i need. There should have been a disclaimer early on so i wouldnt have wasted months and money in useless follow-ups to feel misunderstood. To elaborate, he clearly didnt understand pmdd nor care to learn about current life stressors impacting my symptoms but rather jumped to just bucket me into someone with anxiety and to educate me about how he has a "3 month wait list to see him" since he's "so good" ( yes, his words). Being a nurse, and healthcare leader, i updated him on the many undesirable side effects of the prescribed medication and he was response was to thank me for the update - not one ounce of concern nor reassurance. Not to mention, when i last logged on he disappeared and i was matched with another aprn with no communication as to why. Maybe my therapist wrote in her note how disatisfied i told her i was with him, or perhaps he just didnt want to bother with a client who actually wanted the right kind of help and not a quick script. The therapy sessions with a therapist are much better as my therapist takes the time to build a rapport. It's a shame because I have advocated for decades for people to utilize mental health services and I experienced exactly why others steer away. Talkspace, you can do better. Get real psychiatrist on board, triage patients accordingly and educate the general public on what they need so they can be proactive in finding the right services. Lastly, find aprns with a drop of empathy. Being treated like a number is not what healthcare strives for.
