Firstly on my experience with the therapist - my therapist missed two booked live video sessions which means that I did not get to use 2 out of 4 sessions included in my plan. That was super disappointing as this was the reason why signed up in the first place! Some responses from my therapist were helpful and insightful, however this was not enough to make me feel like I was properly supported. I lacked an active and action based approach you get when you visit a therapist face to face. I do not feel that there was enough structure and I was often wondering what I should do or say next rather than my therapist leading it. Afterall I wanted to get some structure and understanding of my situation on how to improve it, not to simply write down my thoughts (I can do that in a notebook for free!). I did not get a proper assessment or an action or a goal plan. Most of the time I felt like I was just talking to a random person online and not a professional therapist. Unfortunately this has been a disappointing experience and I feel like I wasted my money. Especially cause I wasn't even able to use the full 4 sessions I paid for. BEWARE: the advertising is very misleading as they advertise as an X amount per week and it is not clear that you will be charged for one month in advance. Even on the final confirmation page I saw a weekly figure which led me to think that I will be charged weekly not monthly. In hindsight I should have raised a chargeback with my bank as this is not what I signed up for. I also experienced many technical issues with the app, not being able to reset my password and VERY slow response times from the support team. They never even responded to my feedback which is why I am posting it here now to make sure others do not use this poor service! In conclusion I would not recommend this service. It is too expensive for what it offers, there are too many quality problems. Bottom line is that you can get proper, high quality therapy face to face or online for the same price or even less!

Shady company. Support only cares about money and dodges questions around how they exploit therapists.

Could not get past the confusing initial robot messages, couldn't connect with my therapist emotionally. Therapist of supposedly 14 years decided to give me advice I did not ask for. Very confusing, and not for when you're in emotional distress for sure. I shouldn't have let myself get pressured into online therapy. 260 dollars wasted on a therapist to do something my friends could've done for free. It's no different from going to an actual therapist once and paying 260 for that one visit.

This app is terrible. It is exorbitantly expensive and while signed up I tried several different therapists. They took a day to respond at minimum and talking over FaceTime is a much higher price. It’s hard to have a conversation when the delay is so long. I did not feel a connection with any of them and they hardly tried to get to know me. Their responses were short and not very probing or inquisitive with insightful questions to really make me think. It felt like talking to a wall. They never had any advice and instead just asked dumb questions anyone could figure out by reading what I had already said. I went to a real therapist after this and it was extremely different. I actually got diagnosed and sent to a psychiatrist for medication that could help me. This app isn’t even worth it if regular therapy is too expensive for you. Your better off finding an online support buddy. Wisdo is an example of an app with support buddies. If you have state programs to make therapy affordable take advantage. Don’t waste your money on this app

The therapist that was assigned to me didn't seem intuitive and didn't even care about my issues. It would be the same thing if I grabbed some random person off the street and tried to have a conversation with that person. I realize that TalkSpace has a lot of therapists and I might have just got one that wasn't meant for me. In any case, it was a complete waste of time and money.

I signed up for one month and the therapist said she is available M-F. I started writing about my issues and initially, she responded with long "copy & paste" information about how therapy works. I wasn't sure if she read my letters so I resent them. She responded with one or two sentences each day. She then started to talk about her Church and how wonderful it is and has the nicest people. She highly recommended that I join a Church. She kept making remarks about church even though I told her I belong to one. She recommended that I try out different churches since the one I'm going to isn't working for me. I didn't feel "heard" by her except when the subject matter was about church. The therapist should advertise as a "Christian Therapist" because this just isn't fair. It's deceptive practice.

I decided to try Talk Space as a cheaper and more convenient alternative to traditional therapy. I was matched with a therapist quickly and began working with her. As a person, she was very nice, but I got the unfortunate vibe that our time together was simply a "side job." A few things that didn't sit well with me were: 1. Unlimited Therapy. Therapists are only available Monday- Friday and are only required to respond once per day. The website makes it seem like you can text your therapist at 3am and you'll get an answer. They technically have up to 24 hours to respond. Additionally, the therapist decides when he/she responds. Mine made it clear she checks her sessions twice per day- once in the morning and once at night. If I happen to write something after she checks in, she won't answer until the next check in. Saying, "I am going to read this more and get back to you tomorrow." technically counts as a response as I quickly learned. It's misleading and defeats the purpose of "convenient." I felt pressured to rush so I wouldn't miss her check ins. 2. Talk Space was going to charge me $196 for only 2 weeks, rather than the advertised 4 weeks. Talk Space advertises weekly rates (I'm assuming to put things into perspective), but bills you monthly. There is no option to purchase weekly access. Sure, the $49/ week may sound great, but $196 for 4 required weeks is the reality. About a week and a half into my second month of therapy, my therapist informed me she was going on vacation for the last 2 weeks of my prepaid month. She informed me I had 2 options: To take the last 2 weeks of the month as a time to reflect on my therapy and or we could schedule a 30 minute video session to "make up for it." I declined both and requested to end my therapy early. Instead of respecting my decision, my therapist pressured me into staying by questioning if I was really ready. I told her exactly what I thought she wanted to hear and immediately complained to the company. I was given a partial refund, but the experience left a poor taste in my mouth. I'm astounded this therapist was going to allow me to pay the company $98 to "reflect and relax" or pay more than $3 per minute for her "live advice." It was a complete rip off as I could have scheduled a 45 minute live session for $60 under my insurance with an in-person therapist. I'm even more uncomfortable that I had to speak up in order not to get my money stolen. This should have been a common courtesy on their part. I'm sure the experience is going to largely depend on how well you connect with your therapist. I did not have a good connection with mine as I felt like my experience was simply her side hustle. It almost felt like it was a chore responding to me and the bare minimum was done in order to meet the requirements. I will not be returning.
